[19:10]<cryn>and I'm still waiting for someone to give a hint. let me re-ask my question :-)
[19:10]<dxbrfa>kaie, my yumex has been running for almost 20 minutes now and it's still getting the same error
[19:10]<cryn>on one of my fedora systems (fc5) nothing happens when I plug in an usb storage device. No prompt asking what to do. No automatic mounting. I use KDE. I tried to "rm -rf .kde" already. I verified haldaemon and messagebus are running. I wonder how I could debug where it is failing
[19:11]<cryn>DXBglc, try "yum update" from a terminal, maybe that gives a better error message
[19:11]<sgrg11>Foolish , tried that
[19:11]<cjw>kaie: thanks
[19:11]<dxbrfa>kaie, i already did... i did yum update first then i tried yumex
[19:11]<cryn>and what happens sean33 ?
[19:11]<sgrg11>kaie , didnt find it
[19:12]<sgrg11>kaie , oh hang on big M
[19:12]<cryn>sean33, and "rpm -qi ImageMagick" doesn't say it's already installed?
[19:12]<sgrg11>kaie , please and thankyou !
[19:13]<cryn>who understand what's happening at auto-mount time? what is the chain of tools that finally leads to a prompt coming up "what do you want to you?"
[19:13]<cusxdrg>when i try to moun ntfs i get this msg
[19:13]<cusxdrg>mount: unknown filesystem type 'ntfs'
[19:13]<am2jj>kaie, installing software that needs the source
[19:13]<sgrg11>kaie , this is the same as installing the CPAN image magick isnt it ?
[19:14]<cryn>kushman, support ntfs is not included by default with fedora, you need to look elsewhere on the web if you need support for it
[19:15]<cryn>sean33, i don't know
[19:15]<cryn>CPAN sounds like a perl interface on top of ImageMagick
[19:15]<dxbrfa>hi. can a freenode staff help me?
[19:15]<cusxdrg>http://fedorasolved.org/post-install-solutions/ntfs/
[19:15]<cryn>DXBglc, you should probably ask on a general freenode support channel, not on a specialized channel like this one?
[19:16]<dxbrfa>kaie, i need some help with regards to my other nick...
[19:16]<dxbrfa>i can't send message.
[19:16]<cryn>DXBglc, don't ask me, I can't help, go find some freenode support people
[19:16]<cusxdrg>also i get an error msg No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found.
[19:16]<rgmdcrl>DXBglc: did you register? if not, I don't think you can send privmsg
[19:17]<dxbrfa>AndyCap, i did register. i was kicked once 'coz i accidentally sent 4 lines of msgs on my clipboard and it went straight through the board.
[19:17]<dxbrfa>:(
[19:17]<dxbrfa>after that incident i can no longer send msgs to anybody
[19:18]<dxbrfa>boltz78, wassup/
[19:18]<dxbrfa>boltz78, enjoying?
[19:20]<dxbrfa>i need some help. i can't make an update on yum and yumex... just now i got this error from yumex => failure: repodata/primary.xml.gz from extras: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.
[19:22]<dxbrfa>boltz78, u r back!
[19:26]<dxbrfa>boltz78, i can't accept
[19:26]<2jfve6o>DXBglc, i've cancelled it
[19:26]<dxbrfa>boltz78, ok
[19:26]<dxbrfa>boltz78, how do u find this?
[19:27]<dxbrfa>boltz, thought u were an op and you cancelled the ban.
[19:27]<dxbrfa>:)
[19:32]<sdwd>hi - is there way to get more than one xserver to automatically login with gdm?
[19:33]<vyryfrgvn>Anyone here use cedega on fc5? 64 bit?
[19:34]<axn>vigilante, wine works.
[19:34]<axn>vigilante, its in fedora extras.
[19:34]<svznnvnz>but liquor is quicker
[19:34]<vyryfrgvn>really...
[19:34]<vyryfrgvn>che does it work for CS?
[19:34]<vyryfrgvn>64 bit?
[19:34]<sdwd>another question as well - ~/.gmorerc isnt working, where should i put command that i want to run on login?
[19:34]<axn>vigilante, its 32 bit wine. it runs on 64 bit fedora
[19:34]<cd2nzsld>Yes, it works for me
[19:35]<vyryfrgvn>thats nice!
[19:35]<vyryfrgvn>CyberSpy: Really?
[19:35]<axn>vigilante, 64 bit wine couldnt run 32 bit windows apps/games
[19:35]<vyryfrgvn>yeah lol
[19:35]<axn>vigilante, for the games running check appdb.winehq.org
[19:35]<vyryfrgvn>so just yum install wine ?
[19:35]<axn>vigilante, yup
[19:35]<cd2nzsld>[12:34] <vigilante> che does it work for CS? <--- Just ask me directly next time
[19:35]<axn>vigilante, yum install wine* if you want it all :)
[19:36]<axn>hi Foolish
[19:37]<cd2nzsld>vigilante: If you want support for the latest games, cd protection and point to play, then use cedega, if you want it for general apps, then use wine
[19:37]<cd2nzsld>cedega is what winex turned into
[19:37]<fjjfysx>che: hi
[19:37]<vyryfrgvn>CyberSpy: I see sir, but i have cedega on 64 bit here... i'm trying to run Counter-Strike, but i cant run using my video card.
[19:37]<axn>CyberSpy, some latest games also run on the free wine.
[19:37]<vyryfrgvn>CyberSpy: When i run the tests, 3D acceleration won't pass.
[19:38]<2zzgzafn2j2>vigilante, did you do the fedorafaq instructions for your video card?
[19:38]<cd2nzsld>vigilante: You need Cedega support then
[19:38]<vyryfrgvn>yes sir
[19:38]<vyryfrgvn>I can do "glxgears"
[19:38]<vyryfrgvn>It works
[19:38]<2zzgzafn2j2>vigilante, what speeds do you get with glxgears?
[19:38]<cd2nzsld>(that was meant as opposed to Fedora support)
[19:38]<sdwd>do any of you know of some slightly more 'technically-orientated' linux spoort channels?
[19:38]<2zzgzafn2j2>vigilante, run glxinfo and pastebin the output
[19:38]<vyryfrgvn>okay thank you
[19:38]<vyryfrgvn>speeds, like 500+ fps
[19:38]<vyryfrgvn>brb
[19:38]<axn>sixy, like what? :)
[19:39]<axn>sixy, #C ?
[19:39]<axn>sixy, do you have an unsolved problem?
[19:39]<sdwd>no just general user channels taht are more focused ont he advanced user than the newbie
[19:39]<sdwd>lots
[19:39]<sdwd>and i never even get replies here
[19:39]<axn>sixy, whats your biggest problem?
[19:39]<sdwd>other than 'i dont know' that is
