[00:00]<2afjurx>raven3x7, hmmm i went into /etc and do not even see a xorg.conf file
[00:00]<svjgdggg>in /etc/X11
[00:00]<zrvgg1w6>heh yeah sorry.
[00:01]<adlxnzt91>anyone know a good way to get MonoDevelop working in FC5? I downloaded the installer and it worked fine, but I don't like how it installs another instance of Mono. :(
[00:01]<2afjurx>thanks guys <-- big noobie here :)
[00:02]<sryslj>hi ppl, anyone say if a gui exist to configure mount point for nfs client or must manualy edit by hand fstab ?
[00:02]<2afjurx>raven3x7, do you know how to change the frequency...I belive the setting it asked for was 60 Hz
[00:06]<zrvgg1w6>bclough, well these are my setings (the generic lcd display ones for 1280x1024)
[00:06]<zrvgg1w6> ### Comment all HorizSync and VertSync values to use DDC:
[00:06]<zrvgg1w6> HorizSync 31.5 - 67.0
[00:06]<zrvgg1w6> VertRefresh 50.0 - 75.0
[00:09]<zrvgg1w6>bclough youu should consult your documentation before trying these.
[00:10]<zrvgg1w6>the monitors i mean
[00:11]<2afjurx>raven3x7, ahhh to see what it is capable of?
[00:11]<zrvgg1w6>yeah.
[00:12]<svjgdggg>bclough: To make sure you don't fry anything, specifically.
[00:13]<zrvgg1w6>does anyone know if theres an ncurses based config utillty fo xorg?
[00:13]<2afjurx>stormzen, hehe thx
[00:13]<2afjurx>I set it to what the lcd is said to be at and still having problems :(
[00:14]<2afjurx>should i try hooking up a regular monitor?
[00:14]<svjgdggg>bclough: Why not?
[00:14]<svjgdggg>raven3x7: I don't know of one, however, nvidia has a command line configurator, which you can find by reading their docs (if you installed the nvidia driver)
[00:15]<svjgdggg>raven3x7: And why did you want an ncurses config utility for xorg?
[00:16]<zrvgg1w6>bclough doesnt have running xserver so an ncuses based utillity might help
[00:16]<2afjurx>I do have one strange message at boot : "cannot allocate resource region 8 of bridge 0000:00:03.0
[00:16]<zrvgg1w6>yum -help
[00:16]<zrvgg1w6>oops
[00:16]<2afjurx>not sure if that could be related...
[00:19]<svjgdggg>bclough: You are fairly new at this, right?
[00:20]<2afjurx>stormzen, yes, I have done a FC4 install on a dual boot before...but it was with the gui
[00:20]<2afjurx>stormzen, for some reason, when i chose to install with the gui it would scramble my lcd (unreadable) so i could not proceed that way
[00:20]<svjgdggg>so you are doing an install, then?
[00:20]<2afjurx>stormzen, yes
[00:21]<svjgdggg>bclough: Did it detect the monitor correctly?
[00:21]<2afjurx>stormzen, yes
[00:21]<svjgdggg>bclough: So you are doing a text-based install... where are you at in the process?
[00:22]<2afjurx>stormzen, completed sucessfully, rebooted...it asked me to configure a few things...enables [ok] everything like normal...but instead of loading into a gui it just goest to "localhoastlogin:"
[00:22]<svjgdggg>Ok. login as root.
[00:22]<2afjurx>stormzen, i can login as root, manuver my way around...
[00:22]<2afjurx>kk
[00:23]<2afjurx>one sec :)
[00:23]<2afjurx>stormzen, thanks so much for your time!
[00:23]<svjgdggg>bclouch have you issued "init 5" yet?
[00:23]<2afjurx>stormzen, i have tried the command...is that what you mean by issued?
[00:24]<svjgdggg>yes. what happens when you do?
[00:24]<2afjurx>stormzen, my monitor does that same funky stuff it did at the beginning of the installation
[00:24]<svjgdggg>ok. Did you try the other monitor? What LCD brand is it, by the way?
[00:25]<2afjurx>SAMSUNG SyncMaster 710n
[00:25]<2afjurx>did try the regular monitor and it does the exact same thing
[00:25]<2afjurx>I almost feel like it never installed a gui
[00:26]<2afjurx>I don't remember it asking me specifically
[00:26]<svjgdggg>hmm... maybe you didn't install it... what options did you choose?
[00:26]<2afjurx>but it is strange that my display goes nutz when trying the install through the gui
[00:26]<2afjurx>I chos
[00:26]<2afjurx>chose*
[00:27]<2afjurx>default pretty much...it asked what type of stuff i wanted on it...development tools...office tools
[00:27]<2afjurx>but nothing about a gui
[00:27]<svjgdggg>The GUI was at the top... if you chose the default, you probably have Gnome.
[00:27]<2afjurx>I think the problem is with the monitor somehow tho...since it would not let me install thru the GUI
[00:27]<2afjurx>kk
[00:27]<svjgdggg>try this: yum install switchdesk
[00:28]<2afjurx>"cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: core"
[00:28]<2afjurx>at startup it says it has loaded eth0
[00:28]<kzzdzpjfyan>anyone using wacom tablet on fc5?
[00:28]<svjgdggg>What are you using for irc?
[00:28]<svjgdggg>I do.
[00:28]<2afjurx>I have FC4 on my laptop here
[00:29]<svjgdggg>Ok.
[00:29]<svjgdggg>KarmaPolice: I have a Graphire3.. it works pretty well with very little config changes.
[00:30]<2afjurx>stormzen, looks like i have all the directories and everything...is there a way to install KDE or GNOME from the command line?
[00:31]<svjgdggg>yes... just a moment.
[00:31]<kzzdzpjfyan>do you know where to change the setting?
[00:31]<kzzdzpjfyan>i have intous 3 but it doen't behave like in windows
[00:31]<2afjurx>no problem :)
[00:31]<svjgdggg>yes... You have to put some details in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.
[00:32]<kzzdzpjfyan>ok .. i will look into that. there is very little info about using wacom on fc5
[00:32]<svjgdggg>anyone have the URL for bin paste / paste bin... whatever...
[00:32]<svjgdggg>KarmaPolice: I can let you see the file that I use, if you hang on a sec.
[00:32]<kzzdzpjfyan>am i right that you are using the driver that come with fc 5 right?
[00:32]<svjgdggg>thanks, Southern_Gentlem.
[00:32]<kzzdzpjfyan>thanks mate.. that will be awesome
[00:33]<svjgdggg>http://rafb.net/paste/results/9mUlj710.html , KarmaPolice.
[00:33]<svjgdggg>ok, bclough... so yum gives you a message that it can't find a valid repo?
[00:34]<2afjurx>stormzen, yes :(
[00:34]<2afjurx>does this mean i have no connection?
[00:34]<sjuvxgzg_gggvfgd>bclough, yum clean metadata
[00:34]<2afjurx>k, 9 metadata files removed
[00:35]<svjgdggg>bclough: It could... but not necessarily.
[00:35]<sjuvxgzg_gggvfgd>run yum update and paste the command ae pastebinnd the result to rh
[00:36]<sjuvxgzg_gggvfgd>bclough, that was for you
[00:36]<2afjurx>Southern_Gentlem, sorry you will have to bear with me i am not sure how to do that
[00:36]<2afjurx>I went to the site
[00:36]<svjgdggg>KarmaPolice: The lines that you are interested are the 'wacom stylus', 'wacom mouse', and 'wacom eraser' under server layout, and the related input devices for them. Also, made sure that if you have a line that says /dev/input/mice that you change it to /dev/input/mouse0 .
[00:36]<sjuvxgzg_gggvfgd>open terminal su -
[00:36]<sjuvxgzg_gggvfgd>yum update
[00:37]<sjuvxgzg_gggvfgd>hightlight with mouse
[00:37]<sjuvxgzg_gggvfgd>control shift c
[00:37]<2afjurx>Southern_Gentlem, will this be difficult since I am on a different machine from the one I am working on?
[00:37]<sjuvxgzg_gggvfgd>go to site control v
[00:37]<2afjurx>lol
