[07:32]<ofnr_>People, I burned the fedora image on my DVD, but I can't boot from the DVD for some reason
[07:32]<ofnr_>why?
[07:32]<ofnr_>Nero verified that the burning was correct
[07:32]<alwywnqw>getting an 403 error on public_html.. 755 directory and all.. pastebin.com/752807
[07:32]<vgwrvy0g>how do you get kwifimanager to work properly in fc5 o.O .. i have to log on to my wifi network using the nm-applet in gnome, then log out of gnome and log into kde
[07:32]<alwywnqw>for my httpd.conf
[07:33]<ofnr_>hello?
[07:34]<ofnr_>ok, how do I check md5sum?
[07:34]<vgwrvy0g>Oleg > you have your DVDROM as the first option in your BIOS boot sequence?
[07:35]<ofnr_>Atapi CD-ROM
[07:35]<ofnr_>and it is actually my DVD+-RW drive
[07:35]<vgwrvy0g>yeah, as long as that refers to that drive. if the image is good it should boot.
[07:35]<ofnr_>but in Bios, it says ATAPi CRROM
[07:36]<vgwrvy0g>if it doesn't boot, it's either because you've been running windows too long and it's made your computer stupid, or you have a failed burn regardless of what nero says.
[07:36]<vgwrvy0g>i'll give you a link to a free program that does ISO burning better than nero.
[07:36]<vgwrvy0g>for windoww
[07:36]<vgwrvy0g>-w+s
[07:37]<vgwrvy0g>http://www.deepburner.com/download/DeepBurner1.exe
[07:37]<ofnr_>thanks
[07:38]<vgwrvy0g>sorry what was that ?
[07:38]<ofnr_>I said thanks
[07:38]<vgwrvy0g>oh. np
[07:42]<rggynn>so no idea on a legace nvodoa driver?
[07:42]<rggynn>*legacy
[07:43]<sdjzcgg>is there a IDE for linux available that is like DevCpp for windows?
[07:52]<sdjzcgg>does anyone know what to search for with yum to find code::blocks?
[07:56]<sdjzcgg>am I muted or something?
[08:03]<mrasfjw>Greetings everybody!
[08:03]<fyguwrmmyavs>greetings
[08:03]<sdjzcgg>MacSlow shhh people are sleeping in here
[08:03]<fyguwrmmyavs>lol
[08:04]<mrasfjw>smorken, I hope not :)
[08:04]<mrasfjw>hi linuxaddicts
[08:04]<fyguwrmmyavs>sup/
[08:04]<mrasfjw>Is it "wise" to try to update FC4->FC5 (without a full reinstall)?
[08:04]<mrasfjw>I this possible at all?
[08:04]<fyguwrmmyavs>it is possible
[08:04]<mrasfjw>btw, I'm not using any 3rd-party rpm-repositories.
[08:05]<krmrrmrr>possible but not clean if you have 3rd party repos
[08:05]<fyguwrmmyavs>not necessary
[08:05]<mrasfjw>any "magic" yum command to do that?
[08:06]<mrasfjw>I have this fedora-release-5-5.noarch.rpm installed already
[08:06]<fyguwrmmyavs>i have heard ppl suggesting a fresh install rather than upgrade
[08:06]<fyguwrmmyavs>however not sure why
[08:06]<zaugn>w00t
[08:06]<krmrrmrr>cause there maybe some packages from the old version that were deprecated
[08:07]<fyguwrmmyavs>alright,thx Kamandag
[08:07]<rrvr_mnv>wont yum update do it?
[08:08]<krmrrmrr>well, call me conservative but i always do a fresh install then restore the configs and data
[08:09]<mrasfjw>hm... yum update just spits out some pyhton-errors regarding locale-settings wtf?
[08:09]<mrasfjw>I havn't touch this FC4 box in months
[08:09]<jlsna>do a fresh install .. period.
[08:09]<mrasfjw>*sigh*
[08:10]<fyguwrmmyavs>its not recommended to upgrade in the faq too
[08:10]<mrasfjw>what a pity
[08:11]<krmrrmrr>yeah, you might end faq-up
[08:11]<krmrrmrr>:D
[08:11]<sdjzcgg>that sounds like a fun weekend....
[08:11]<sdjzcgg>or 2
[08:11]<xud2jfv>very unstable this FC5 is!
[08:12]<fyguwrmmyavs>eh unstable?
[08:12]<xud2jfv>x86_64 running on Xeon
[08:12]<fyguwrmmyavs>in what sense
[08:12]<rrvr_mnv>yah im having trouble with hyperthreading in fc5
[08:12]<xud2jfv>died 3 times in 15 minutes on me
[08:12]<xud2jfv>java_dev: what can I do?
[08:12]<fyguwrmmyavs>is it a server humbolt ?
[08:12]<xud2jfv>the machine dies after bootup
[08:12]<xud2jfv>it should be!
[08:13]<fyguwrmmyavs>??
[08:13]<xud2jfv>I want to test XEN on it
[08:13]<xud2jfv>very unpleasent!
[08:13]<rrvr_mnv>mine wont start at all sometimes but sometimes it does lol
[08:13]<xud2jfv>java_dev: exactly
[08:13]<rrvr_mnv>so when i get it up i dont shut it down unless i really have too lol
[08:14]<xud2jfv>did not watch the first 2 times, but the screen was black and not even numlock would work
[08:14]<xud2jfv>but it does not stay up for me!
[08:15]<xud2jfv>so now I am really fu-ked
[08:15]<fjjlnz2jd>humbolt, i graduated from Humboldt State University. ;-)
[08:15]<sdjzcgg>does anyone know if code::blocks is available in yum repositories
[08:16]<sdjzcgg>i have searched and found nothing but was thinking that it would be named something else
[08:16]<xud2jfv>I installed SuSE 10.1 yesterday but it would not work, because the package manager is broken. Kind of sucks if you can't even update the damn thing and no apt-get like interface is available.
[08:16]<mrasfjw>But I assume I'll be able to do a install from an DVD-iso, right?
[08:16]<xud2jfv>today I spent several hours to finally get FC5 on it
[08:16]<xud2jfv>and now
[08:17]<xud2jfv>MacSlow: talking to me?
[08:17]<mrasfjw>humbolt, no... just generally into the crow
[08:17]<mrasfjw>d
[08:17]<xud2jfv>CD ISOs, yes install worked fine
[08:17]<xud2jfv>after an initial run with a faulty cd
[08:18]<xud2jfv>and the damn installer just wanted to reboot instead requesting me to replace the cd, very unpleasant indeed!
[08:18]<xud2jfv>so now it is on there, but I can't use it
[08:19]<xud2jfv>great!
[08:19]<xud2jfv>what can I do now?
[08:19]<fyguwrmmyavs>incase you are still interested in upgrading via yum
[08:19]<rsyd>anyone know if openoffice has the ability to open .wps files?
[08:19]<fyguwrmmyavs>k,time to go to work
[08:19]<fyguwrmmyavs>later all
[08:20]<xud2jfv>Guess I will revert back to Ubuntu and give up on XEN for now, which is the only reason for trying SuSE and FC anyway!
