[12:52]<rrgyvyj>yeah, compiling a kernel by hand for the first time is quite overwhelming (it was for me at least) I didn't know at all what I was doing

[12:53]<rrgyvyj>that sounds weird, it shouldn't happen unless you overwrote them yourself using etc-update or dispatch-conf
[12:53]<xjffjwsjuf>JustinS, type ls -l /usr/src/linux and check its pointed to right directory. also double check u had /boot mounted etc..
[12:53]<vxjdrsd|2usd>and about the freq scaling, my motherboard supports it, my cpu is an athlon64, but i've never got it working before.

[12:58]<rrgyvyj>that might indicate a broken ebuild or something, try emerge --sync and then emerge again?

[12:58]<svzzc>agnitio: when i was using livecd, i emerged the stage 3 tarball, and it did the whole install, and then when it got to mail-mta/ssmtp it failed..and i couldnt emerge
