[00:00]<syddnee>Garibaldi: just that inside int main()?
[00:00]<rmyj->reisio sorry to bother you again, but is there anyway around this error im dying for my X to be up and running again heh
[00:00]<cgjllywwq>reisio: That's what I just said. When I did root() and setup(), it told me everything suceeded.
[00:00]<gzzy2zfmy>simmerz: yes
[00:00]<znysyj>adio-: which error was it?
[00:00]<gzzy2zfmy>int main(int argc, char* argv[])
[00:00]<rmyj->that 404 not found on xorg.freedesktop.org
[00:00]<gzzy2zfmy>simmerz: /j ##Garibaldi
[00:01]<znysyj>simmerz: this is covered in 'The C Programming Language' fyi :p
[00:01]<rmyj->and how can i get my mouse to work in the terminal so i can paste a more specific error to u guys if ya need it
[00:01]<tfkdfn>woo, netsplits
[00:02]<2zjjcscm>adio-: what files do you need
[00:03]<rmyj>reisio hey sorry, got diconnected
[00:03]<ajzwyg>I screwed up something when I tried to recompile my kernel. I got through configuring it and compiling it alright, and I followed the Installation Handbook in order to get the config files to the right place. I used cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/<kernel-version> and updated grub to use /boot/<kernel-version> and root=/dev/hda3. Now when I startup, grub tells me error 15, file not found
[00:04]<2zjjcscm>adio: what files do you need?
[00:04]<rmyj>well to my knowledge its some fonts
[00:04]<rmyj>im not exactly sure
[00:04]<znysyj>adio: oh the fixed thing?
[00:04]<rmyj>its all to do with emerge xorg-x11
[00:05]<2zjjcscm>adio: http://arbitor.slothweb.com:8002
[00:05]<rmyj>brookskd whats that url for ?
[00:05]<2zjjcscm>adio: that has all my distfiles, i have xorg-x11 7.0, you should find what you need
[00:06]<2zjjcscm>put it into /usr/portage/distfiles
[00:06]<2zjjcscm>and you emerge will work
[00:06]<rmyj>kk ill give it a shot
[00:06]<drdd_>welpg to cinelerra to run and work
[00:06]<drdd_>pretty spiffy
[00:06]<ajzwyg>I even went into my fs through the installation cd to try and make sure I did everything right, recopying the bzimage to /boot/linux-2.6.16 and still, grub tells me it kind find the file. I have no idea how to reconfigure the grub.conf file because it does not appear in /boot anymore =\
[00:06]<dnzpd>corwin: is boot/ mounted?
[00:07]<fyguwrrqfnq1>hey how can i get sata and ide to work toghter ?
[00:07]<ajzwyg>merfy, I don't understand the question
[00:07]<me>corwin: did you use /boot/linux-2.6.16 in grub.conf?
[00:07]<me>if so, that's wrong
[00:07]<ajzwyg>dz: yes, I did
[00:07]<me>assuming you have a seperate boot partition
[00:07]<ajzwyg>dz: uh oh x)
[00:07]<znysyj>dz: sepArate
[00:07]<dnzpd>well if in /etc/fstab is noauto the boot/ partion then boot/ isn't mounted in start up
[00:07]<caayza>lol, hello, jeeves
[00:07]<ajzwyg>I have the basic boot /dev/hda1 and root /dev/hda3
[00:08]<znysyj>ya then you don't want the '/boot' part
[00:08]<drdd_>works edits, now i have stuff to do
[00:08]<rmyj>brookskd sorry new to the whole portage thing how to i exactly put it into me /usr/portage/distfiles?
[00:08]<dnzpd>corwin: mount /boot/ will work
[00:08]<ajzwyg>reisio: oh? I just followed the handbook like I was installing it fresh =\
[00:08]<rmyj>like add that for my gentoo mirror?
[00:08]<znysyj>mzbot: just cp it there
[00:09]<2zjjcscm>adio: well download the file to your a directory
[00:09]<rmyj>oh okay
[00:09]<rmyj>sorry
[00:09]<2zjjcscm>adio: then as root cp the file to /usr/portage/distfiles
[00:09]<znysyj>corwin: in grub.conf, the 'root (hd0,0)' (e.g.) is where /boot is
[00:09]<znysyj>corwin: having '/boot/kernel-name' is like saying '/boot/boot'
[00:09]<ajzwyg>*nod*
[00:09]<znysyj>corwin: no idea if the handbook is messed up or not, though :)
[00:10]<ajzwyg>so what should I change it to, and more importantly, how?
[00:10]<ajzwyg>I should mount /dev/hda1 to /boot I'm guessing...
[00:10]<znysyj>corwin: nano -w /boot/grub/grub.conf
[00:10]<ajzwyg>then /boot/grub/grub.conf will be there?
[00:10]<znysyj>corwin: and remove the '/boot' part from the kernel line
[00:10]<znysyj>corwin: ya, mount first :)
[00:10]<wnfl[mnsc]>corwin: yeah, mount first
[00:10]<ajzwyg>cool!!! ^^ Lemme go see if that does the trick
[00:11]<wj>hello good evening. I'm looking for a tool that could provide some kind of "font preview". does anyone knows of one ?
[00:11]<caayza>lol
[00:11]<znysyj>wo: xfontsel
[00:11]<wj>reisio: nothing more appropriate ?
[00:12]<caayza>reisio: 600GB of pr0n via email?
[00:12]<wj>hey kojiro ! thanks for the help the other day, xorg7 is running fine
[00:12]<znysyj>wo: um, try that first :p
[00:12]<caayza>wo: oh, good
[00:12]<znysyj>kojiro: :)
[00:12]<wj>reisio: it works, but it's really annoying to check many fonts at one (families become unavailable as soon as I choose a font name ...)
[00:12]<usnzrvxny>q: net.lo doesnt load, it says : no interface module has been loaded
[00:12]<znysyj>wo: do you have GIMP or Inkscape?
[00:12]<wj>reisio: both
[00:12]<znysyj>wo: Inkscape's font selection box is nice
[00:13]<wj>okay, I'll use that one
[00:13]<znysyj>wo: GIMP's is a little less nice, but still nice, imo
[00:13]<wj>thanks :)
[00:13]<zzrxzrrnf>is madwifi possible to add in the kernel?
[00:13]<dcegge>I should still be able to use a 64-bit stage if I've booted to a 32-bit install disk right?
[00:13]<znysyj>wo: actually, maybe it was GIMP's that's nicer
[00:13]<rmyj>okay brookskd if i add that mirror to my GENTOO_MIRRORS will that work just as well ?
[00:13]<znysyj>wo: I think GIMP actually uses the fontface to display the name of the font, and Inkscape doesn't
[00:13]<me>mkrenz: no, you won't be able to chroot to it
[00:13]<wj>reisio: but how can you find out the real x-x-x-x-x-x-x crappy name of the font using inkscape ?
[00:13]<txznnn>why would changes I make to /etc/modprobe.conf disappear after a reboot?
[00:13]<rmyj>cause there alot of files im gonna have to download off that heh
[00:14]<znysyj>wo: heheh, that _is_ a good question
[00:14]<rmyj>jsut wondering if there is a quicker way
[00:14]<2zjjcscm>adio: yeah, but it'll only be up for about a day or two
[00:14]<znysyj>wo: most of the time you can grep your fontpaths for the first few characters and figure it out
[00:14]<rmyj>thats all i need it for
[00:14]<dcegge>dz: ok, well that explains some things then. ;-)
[00:14]<znysyj>wo: I'm not sure what the perfect way to do that would be
[00:14]<rmyj>ill try that out
[00:14]<rmyj>thanks
[00:14]<2xy_>is it possible to set my current shell to a certain width/height in characters?
[00:14]<me>mkrenz: trust me, I tried :P
