[01:50]<d0rsy>I think it starts with a k
[01:50]<deeygge>Tim2: I'm aware of that. The command I gave you will tell if portage considers that version of zaptel to be masked or not.
[01:50]<deeygge>Tim2: and if it is masked, it'll tell by what
[01:50]<mrvnsvdfn>I just upgraded to xorg 7 and soon as it starts now its shuts down again with error (waiting for X server to shut down FreeFontPath: FPE "/usr/share/fonts/misc" refcount is 2, should be 1; fixing) anyone able to help ?
[01:50]<mrvnsvdfn>im kinda stuck
[01:50]<deeygge>Tim2: no need to run it without the -vp
[01:50]<2yrjrrsv>DarkRyu cool :) Thanks a bunch
[01:50]<vvuvvfn>Is there a good, up-to-date guide on using virtual hosts with apache2 and webapp-config?
[01:51]<cjzsv1g>Tim2 try something like ACCEPTKEYWORDS="~x86" && emerge asterisk
[01:51]<deeygge>frostburn: I'm aware of that, but that's not necessarily a good idea (might want a newer version and to wait for stable to "catch up" without sticking to latest ~x86 forever)
[01:51]<pzjsv2uzg>m0gsi, http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/where.xml scroll down to live cd
[01:51]<wnfl>ttuttle: have you checked the wiki?
[01:51]<deeygge>Tim2: don't do what korst3n said!
[01:51]<tydq>marienz: ok sorry... well it reports not to be masked
[01:51]<d0rsy>ok thx
[01:51]<dzzczdu>bigongst: do you have a SSH client for windows ?
[01:51]<tydq>marienz: i wont... i know its depreciated
[01:51]<deeygge>korst3n: that's a really bad idea, pulls in ~x86 versions of various deps *and* messy downgrades if you do a -Du world later.
[01:51]<2yrjrrsv>DarkRyu i'm lookin' for one now. suggestions?
[01:51]<nyrxvsxrmjw>Anyone know why 2.6.17 is masked?
[01:51]<deeygge>Tim2: it's not so much deprecated as it is a bad idea, package.keywords is saner
[01:52]<nyrxvsxrmjw>(Is it actual bugs, or just lack of complete testing)
[01:52]<deeygge>Tim2: ok, what command are you running that doesn't do what you want and what is it doing wrong? :)
[01:52]<fdnfmd>NightShadow: Changelog in the same directory as the ebuild may tell you
[01:52]<cjzsv1g>marienz, that will just save bunch of time ^^
[01:52]<tscdrg>Shirakawasuna: Ha! It worked :P
[01:52]<crrgufgyg>CAMPIONI DEL MONDO!
[01:52]<crrgufgyg>eheheh
[01:52]<deeygge>korst3n: the explosions caused by the downgrade you get when you -Du world will cost you more time to fix than you save by not editing package.keywords.
[01:52]<fdnfmd>yes yes, congrats italy :) calm down though
[01:52]<tscdrg>lol
[01:53]<dzzczdu>bigongst: you can take puty http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/
[01:53]<crrgufgyg>ehehe
[01:53]<crrgufgyg>k Fieldy :)
[01:53]<deeygge>korst3n: it's ok to use it on the commandline with a -vp attached to it, but not without a -vp.
[01:53]<fdnfmd>god that must be party centry right now
[01:53]<fdnfmd>party central
[01:53]<nyrxvsxrmjw>Fieldy: nothing there
[01:53]<fdnfmd>NightShadow: no idea then
[01:53]<nyrxvsxrmjw>Well, nothing pertaining to my issue
[01:53]<deeygge>NightShadow: for that kernel most likely the need of more testing.
[01:53]<2yrjrrsv>DarkRyu used that for years, any suggestions for a windows SSH host?
[01:53]<ygvnzajjf>where do i set the use flags for myql ? is compiled without-mysqli and i would like with-mysqli :)
[01:53]<nyrxvsxrmjw>marienz: So it should be safe for the most part to unmask?
[01:53]<sxyzrcrwrsugr>TSCDan: cool
[01:53]<cjzsv1g>marienz, wot about tempstr=$acceptkeywords && acceptkeywords="~x86" && emerge asterisk && acceptkeywords=$tempstr ?
[01:53]<ygvnzajjf>sorry not mysql, php
[01:54]<nyrxvsxrmjw>(I just want it for the BCM34xx driver)
[01:54]<tydq>marienz: i want to emerge asterisk, with the zaptel use flag, but I want to use an unstable version of zaptel since the stable one appears to to compile. in a nutshell, i want to force zaptel-1.2.6 to compile after issuing my "emerge asterisk" command
[01:54]<pzjsv2uzg>intercool, try ufed, if you want to change global keys
[01:54]<tscdrg>Shirakawasuna: I just modified the init script for wif, there was a like "run ${IFACE} start". I added & to the end of it. lol
[01:54]<deeygge>NightShadow: I don't know! If the answer to that question was known it wouldn't be ~arch :)
[01:54]<nyrxvsxrmjw>Yup
[01:54]<tydq>marienz: *appears to not compile
[01:54]<deeygge>korst3n: that makes no sense.
[01:54]<ygvnzajjf>frostburn: thanks, ill take a look.
[01:54]<nyrxvsxrmjw>It's hard to decide between switching to an unstable kernel w/ better wifi support, or staying on the old one =P
[01:55]<deeygge>Tim2: just emerge -va1 zaptel to upgrade and then emerge asterisk? Or does asterisk downgrade zaptel?
[01:55]<sxyzrcrwrsugr>TSCDan: cool
[01:55]<fdnfmd>i've been using 2.6.17 kernels for a while (manually installed), however I don't need that driver. no issues here.
[01:55]<tydq>yes, asterisk always tries to install zaptel 1.0.10
[01:55]<deeygge>Tim2: ok, sec
[01:56]<deeygge>Tim2: there's an explicit "<net-misc/zaptel-1.2" dependency in that version of asterisk. You probably need the ~x86 version of asterisk for it to work with that newer zaptel.
[01:57]<dzzczdu>bigongst: erm maybe i missunderstood you do you want to remote a linux guest system from a XP host system ? if yes you can use putty. there is a windoes version from putty
[01:57]<tydq>marienz: ok..
[01:57]<tydq>marienz: will have a look
[01:58]<2yrjrrsv>DarkRyu my linux system runs within VMware workstation though. so for instance, from work, I'd have to ssh into my Windows box and then into my VMware client if i understand right
[01:58]<pzjsv2uzg>windows supports secure shell?
[01:58]<jrmrle>where to install the universal cd
[01:59]<pzjsv2uzg>on /dev/hda?
[01:59]<nnzjvx909>howdy
[01:59]<cjzsv1g>marienz, ah if i install packs with that cmd, it will affect the future (next emerges) i guess?
[01:59]<deeygge>korst3n: which command? The one you gave doesn't really do anything afaict
[01:59]<jrmrle>where to download the universal iso x86
[02:00]<deeygge>JaMaLz: there's a mirrors list on www.gentoo.org
[02:00]<pzjsv2uzg>JaMaLz, http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/where.xml
[02:00]<gla>hey guys
[02:00]<jrmrle>there is no universal for x86
[02:00]<gla>help me out
[02:00]<gla>i'm lost on this sound thingie
[02:00]<jrmrle>is P4 M capable with x86
[02:00]<gla>i've just killed esd and artsd
[02:00]<zu2rrrjra>hi guys
[02:00]<gla>and i can softmix... prolly because of dmix
[02:00]<zu2rrrjra>whats the best way to remove all gnome related stuff?
[02:00]<cjzsv1g>marienz, modifying accept keywords for one emerge.. if i emerge a packet with that way, that packet's next emergings will be affected right?
[02:01]<deeygge>korst3n: the problem with the ACCEPT_KEYWORDS env var is that its setting is not "remembered" by portage. So if you later do a world upgrade it'll downgrade everything to latest stable version (or if you have A_K set it'll upgrade everything to latest unstable). Keeping a "mixed" system is pretty much impossible.
[02:01]<gla>does it mean i should use USE="-artsd -esd"?
[02:01]<deeygge>korst3n: if you set it in /etc/portage/package.keywords then that *is* taking into account for future runs of emerge.
[02:01]<dzzczdu>bigongst: if u use bridged mode on your guest os so the guest is directly bounded on the local network so it is for the network like a real mashin you can directly access to it over network so how i know
[02:01]<deeygge>npc: imho using -artsd -esd is a good idea. The only thing it'll "cost" you is some of the system sounds in gnome and kde, afaik.
[02:02]<cjzsv1g>marienz, aha thank you so much ^^
[02:02]<2yrjrrsv>DarkRyu awesome :)
[02:02]<deeygge>npc: (pretty sure gnome system sounds don't work without esd, not sure about kde and artsd)
[02:02]<2yrjrrsv>that's perfect to know
[02:02]<gla>npc: hum... i'm on fluxbox but i do use some gtk+ based apps, and i dont need any system sounds
[02:02]<syddnee>where in /etc/conf.d/net do i configure the gateway address for a static ip?
[02:03]<gla>all i need is for kopete to work with sounds though.
[02:03]<jrmrle>is the livecd = universal ?
[02:03]<deeygge>npc: I have no idea at all what kopete uses to play stuff I'm afraid (I'm very much not a kde person)
