[00:00]<pxyggfjzv>how do i fix this mess: http://rafb.net/paste/results/KngP8L78.html
[00:00]<pxyggfjzv>?
[00:00]<acygvgnz>bud_resin: ok, then this old modem is not really needed ... :-(
[00:00]<lxz0q1g_>gschwind: what's the best way to restore you grub and mbr?
[00:00]<2um_zgsyg>ckintner: not for internet access no
[00:00]<acygvgnz>bud_resin: but the audio part with the mic things and so could be interesting
[00:01]<gzzy2zfmy>phr023n_: do the same thing you did to get it on there to begin with
[00:01]<2um_zgsyg>ckintner: thats what im asking what could i do with this thing
[00:01]<slzp2gnzp>rebuilding a kernel that was working w an oldconfig w genkernel (which is config'd not to touch grub options & seemingly doesn't) breaks it... can't find root device nemor.... ne1 got an idea why that cld b?
[00:01]<lxz0q1g_>Gribaldi: hmm, that seems quite lenghty
[00:02]<gzzy2zfmy>phr023n_: no...
[00:02]<acygvgnz>bud_resin: my answer: open the thing, take the audio stuff and use it as a mic with a preamp
[00:02]<2frrarrn>spafbnerf: would your kernel work if you put "rut" instead of "root"?
[00:03]<slzp2gnzp>:(
[00:03]<lxz0q1g_>Garibaldi: is there a script to save and restore anywhere I could find?
[00:03]<rssjryrvnx> /root has 14 gig's of pure crap on it
[00:03]<gzzy2zfmy>phr023n_: it's a one-liner
[00:03]<axuacw>Steven Seagull ftw http://www.boind.com/fs.php?url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gg5_mlQOsUQ
[00:03]<l-svrvya>AssociateX, o_O
[00:03]<slzp2gnzp> /dev/hda3 ... therz just no way i can barstardise it dood
[00:03]<rsaxwygm>phr023n_: do you can boot with gentoo cd ?
[00:03]<pxyggfjzv>anyone know how to get around depencies who block?
[00:03]<lxz0q1g_>Garibaldi: you'd better show me then (i mean the one liner)
[00:03]<druf_>so... anyone good at setting up bluetooth or should I just quit?
[00:04]<l-svrvya>PhinnFort, uninstall the blocking package
[00:04]<eaym2enne>when i try to install libX11 with emerge it always fails with this error: make[3]: Leaving Directory `/var/tmp/portage/libX11-1.0.3/work/libX11-1.0.3/src/xkb'
[00:04]<lxz0q1g_>gschwind: yes
[00:04]<pxyggfjzv>p-static: it's not installed
[00:04]<l-svrvya>o.
[00:04]<l-svrvya>o.o
[00:04]<gzzy2zfmy>phr023n_: see the manual for grub-install
[00:04]<pxyggfjzv>http://rafb.net/paste/results/KngP8L78.html
[00:04]<gzzy2zfmy>phr023n_: or the manual for manual install
[00:04]<acygvgnz>maul_: its a bit difficoult without any information of the used hardware
[00:04]<szzrug>lol
[00:04]<rsaxwygm>phr023n_: You can boot on it, chroot, and reinstall grub on mbr :)
[00:05]<gzzy2zfmy>phr023n_: yeah, you'd have to boot w/ the livecd
[00:05]<gzzy2zfmy>so, not really a one-liner
[00:05]<druf_>ckintner: that's not really important, bluetooth itself is actually working, but I can't make it work if I want my mobile phone to connect to the net through my pc
[00:05]<pxyggfjzv>p-static: http://rafb.net/paste/results/KngP8L78.html
[00:05]<acygvgnz>maul_: oh, sry
[00:06]<l-svrvya>PhinnFort, weird
[00:06]<pxyggfjzv>i know
[00:06]<pxyggfjzv>and bothersome
[00:06]<acygvgnz>maul_: what tools you use?
[00:06]<acygvgnz>maul_: to connect
[00:06]<lxz0q1g_>Garibaldi: I thinks its simple enough :) thanks gschwind too!
[00:06]<saum>what is the syntax to copied a directory structure while keeping their ownerships and permissions?
[00:06]<axuac>NeddySeagoon; Megavolt, no luck on booting windows
[00:06]<druf_>ckintner: trying with gnubox on the phone
[00:06]<grrxr>hi
[00:06]<l-svrvya>PhinnFort, try building with USE="-openal"
[00:06]<druf_>dund and other bluetooth utils on the pc
[00:07]<slzp2gnzp>scud, cp -pR dir x
[00:07]<mnrrvjfv>Chuck: try a windows CD, boot into recovery mode
[00:07]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>Chuck, same errors ?
[00:07]<pxyggfjzv>p-static: but i really want it in blender :S
[00:07]<saum>spafbnerf: thank you
[00:07]<l-svrvya>d'oh
[00:07]<rsaxwygm>phr023n_: if you are not scary about that, you can follow the install manual of gentoo to boot, chroot and reinstall mbr
[00:07]<mnrrvjfv>Chuck: command line try: fdisk /mbr for the windows drive
[00:07]<axuac>Also, no luck mounting the drive
[00:07]<mnrrvjfv>Chuck: if you are lucky that will fix things
[00:07]<zznd>hi
[00:07]<pxyggfjzv>but i'll give it a shot
[00:08]<mnrrvjfv>Chuck: if not then you need more powerful recovery tools ... google may help
[00:08]<grrxr>when I plug in my usb flash it mounts corectly, but when I write some data into it and then unplug and plug in again, then the new data are lost, why?
[00:08]<axuac>so what is the syntax i need to type
[00:08]<zznd>my windows failed to boot because of damaged hard disk sectors (starts booting, then fails to load a specific file), i just loaded up knoppix - which tools should i use?
[00:08]<acygvgnz>maul_: sry, i'm away
[00:08]<druf_>k
[00:08]<|zv|>Gacha: it probably didn't sync before it umounted
[00:08]<lxz0q1g_>gschwind: reinstall mbr? hows that?
[00:09]<acygvgnz>grem: and what is with #gentoo? ;)
[00:09]<mnrrvjfv>http://www.ntfs.com/boot-sector-damaged.htm
[00:09]<|zv|>Gacha: you should be able to unmount it before removing it and have all the changes flushed to disk
[00:09]<zznd>ckintner, it's my favourite distro and there are lots of people here ;)
[00:09]<axuac>when i try to type fdisk /mbr in a terminal this is what i get: Unable to open /mbr
[00:09]<mnrrvjfv>Chuck: wait a sec ;) that link could help
[00:09]<acygvgnz>grem: oh ...
[00:09]<zznd>i booted the knoppix dvd which has lots of tools on it
[00:09]<lxz0q1g_>MegaVolt: thanks :) that should help I'll give it a go
[00:09]<mnrrvjfv>Chuck: its a windows command and used in the windows recovery mode ... it wont work in a linux terminal
[00:10]<axuac>i appreciate it, now i just need to get a command prompt, i didnt have much luck this last time
[00:10]<grrxr>|rt|: I should manualy unmount it?
[00:10]<mnrrvjfv>phr023n_: err did even read your problem ... i was referring to Chuck ;) but im glad to help
[00:10]<axuac>gotcha, looks like i will need a floppy. no luck getting to the recovery console using the install disk
[00:10]<rsaxwygm>phr023n_: it's master boot record, it's first 512 Bytes use to boot the system (it's this think that windows destroy on install and that remove grub)
[00:10]<mnrrvjfv>Chuck: why ?
[00:11]<mnrrvjfv>Chuck: insert CD, wait for boot cd stuff to go by, chose recovery mode
[00:11]<mnrrvjfv>Chuck: the cd will boot a crippled live cd environment that can do close to nothing
[00:11]<axuac>I dont know why, but it wouldn't let get to that drive, it only allowed me D: which is the one drive that is ok
[00:11]<grrxr>|rt|: if hal mount it automaticly I think hal unmount's automaticly too
[00:11]<|zv|>Gacha: it should...but i've found that it doesn't always do so
[00:12]<mnrrvjfv>Chuck: somehow you can write the hda mbr without going there, i just dont know the syntax ;)
[00:12]<axuac>Megavolt, yeah it is horrible, that is why i now run gentoo
[00:12]<rsaxwygm>phr023n_: it's not very important to know what is that, the only think important it's to know how to reinstall grub
[00:12]<|zv|>Gacha: normally i just make sure I right click on the drive on the desktop and pick unmount before i remove it
[00:12]<axuac>i will figure it out, We all know that i need to get to that drive using microsucks something, and see if i can repair it
[00:13]<lxz0q1g_>gschwind: sometime ago i used cfdisk, to recover the mbr
