[21:24]<mogn_>really ?
[21:25]<mogn_>thats wierddd
[21:25]<caayza>NeddySeagoon: no windows? what do you do when you want to look outside?
[21:25]<annznz>how can i check if the system is booting up in a bash script? Because i wrote a script that backs my data up and starts when i plug in my usb harddrive, and i dont want it to backup during boot, or i get filesystem corruption errors. any ideas?
[21:25]<mogn_>kojiro , LMAAOOO
[21:25]<mogn_>hahahahahaa
[21:25]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>kojiro, take a brick out of the wall
[21:25]<kduu>kojiro: vim
[21:25]<caayza>Kyuu: heh
[21:25]<bfunon>does gatos have hardware 3D support or is it only for tv in/out ports?
[21:25]<nycj>Kyuu: was trying to emerge nmap, gtk in red, later on it says gtk is not installed, and compiling fails
[21:26]<mogn_>so does anyone have some lvm2 knowlage they could throw my way
[21:26]<mogn_>drazak , sorry i couldnt help = \
[21:26]<kduu>eiko: when was the last time you synced and updated your entire system?
[21:26]<asvjzd>eiko, simple, emerge -C gtk; emerge gtk; emerge -uDN world
[21:27]<nycj>Kyuu: i'm synced now but haven't updated everything for a very long time
[21:27]<kduu>eiko: uh.. and there is your problem
[21:27]<nycj>Kyuu: i guess
[21:27]<kduu>eiko: emerge -uDNatv world
[21:27]<pugcdzsvnz>hi there ppl :) i have a question, how can i get a sh script to be executed on boot up?
[21:27]<mogn_>drazak, !!! did you emerege xorg ?
[21:27]<|zv|>dOne_: what kind of lvm2 info you looking for?
[21:27]<ssg>hi
[21:27]<nycj>Kyuu: so this thing isn't going to work with gtk+ 2.6, that's why?
[21:27]<kduu>funkmaster: add it to /etc/conf.d/local.start ?
[21:27]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>funkmaster, add it to /etc/conf.d/local.start
[21:27]<nddfdfjvn>alright...i'm done for awhile..thanks for all the help!
[21:27]<nycj>Kyuu: btw, i'm already trying it with -gtk in package.use
[21:27]<pugcdzsvnz>ah cool thx ppl :)
[21:27]<kduu>eiko: it might require a slightly newer revision.. im not sure
[21:28]<syddnee>what do i need to configure in the kernel to enable nat?
[21:28]<nycj>Kyuu: i really didn't need the gui for nmap anyway
[21:28]<mererc>dOne_: of course
[21:28]<mogn_>|rt| , well whenever i try to open the lvm.conf to void out my cdrom when i vgscan the conf is not existant it just blank so ive tried just putting down that line but it didnt help any
[21:28]<mogn_>hmm
[21:28]<kduu>eiko: either way, i would suggest you update your entire system regularly
[21:28]<mogn_>than you should have a /etc/x11 .. conf file thing
[21:28]<mererc>it works with fluxbox
[21:28]<pugcdzsvnz>i just put in the location of the script that's it?
[21:28]<nycj>Kyuu: i'm working on it
[21:28]<kduu>eiko: otherwise, it cant be guarenteed that things work properly
[21:28]<mererc>but it's in really bad resolutuons
[21:28]<mererc>reolutions
[21:29]<nycj>Kyuu: i know, i know
[21:29]<kduu>"P
[21:29]<mererc>it's in 640x480
[21:29]<nycj>Kyuu: this isn't a system i use very often
[21:29]<kduu>eiko: at the least i would run glsa-check on it
[21:29]<mogn_>http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/xorg-config.xml
[21:29]<mogn_>drazak , http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/xorg-config.xml
[21:29]<nycj>Kyuu: hmm, wonder what glsa-check is
[21:29]<|zv|>dOne_: that should be in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf
[21:29]<kduu>eiko: man glsa-check
[21:29]<mererc>dOne_: yeah, i know, have that open in firefox
[21:30]<jlvyccjzn>how do u stop a program that has been ran as a daemon
[21:30]<mogn_>|rt| the files completly empty
[21:30]<caayza>optikkore: well, normally /etc/init.d/daemonname stop
[21:30]<dyaggyw>what is the best method to lock my desktop under linux?
[21:30]<jlvyccjzn>yeah but thats saying it hasnt even started yet
[21:30]<mogn_>drazak , so you editied it to use whatever resolution you wanted ?
[21:30]<nycj>Kyuu: guess i need to emerge -u man
[21:30]<2j2wxjjls>If I connect to a vnc session with a password, that's not encrypted by default, is it?
[21:30]<kduu>...
[21:30]<kduu>eiko: make that -uD
[21:31]<kduu>bobwhoops: no
[21:31]<|zv|>dOne_: hmm should atleast be the default example file....try reinstalling lvm
[21:31]<mogn_>drazak , thats the only thing i could think of but ive had that problem before on obsd .... even afte editing it it still went all gaay
[21:31]<caayza>optikkore: are you sure it's started? if so, killall <daemonname> && /etc/init.d/daemonname zap
[21:31]<kduu>bobwhoops: generally the only way to do that is to tunnel it through ssh
[21:31]<wcryrxv>where are the iptables log files generally found?
[21:31]<nycj>Kyuu: thanks...
[21:31]<mogn_>|rt| I cant emerge anything yet because I havent installed gentoo
[21:31]<2j2wxjjls>Kyuu: If someone looked a that the traffic is it pretty easy to figure out what's in it?
[21:31]<lzjvnw_>Whats a good simple video editing program for editing an AVI and removing scenes, etc
[21:31]<kduu>wknight: if you dont turn on logging... they dont go anywhere
[21:31]<mogn_>|rt|, ive just parted me disk
[21:32]<mogn_>|rt| so should i go through with the install until the part where i chroot then emerge lvm2 again ?
[21:32]<kduu>bobwhoops: depends...
[21:32]<jlvyccjzn>yay
[21:32]<jlvyccjzn>ty
[21:32]<mogn_>|rt|, because i cant now
[21:32]<kduu>bobwhoops: either way, you cant consider it to be secure
[21:32]<|zv|>dOne_: ah..i've never used lvm with the root filesystem
[21:32]<wcryrxv>kyuu: I would assume that to be the case. but if I did have logging on, where would they be?
[21:32]<frac>Kyuu: Nope, drm looks correct.
[21:32]<kduu>wknight: depends on what kind of logging you enabled in the kernel
[21:32]<jlvyccjzn>thank god i have an ftp again
[21:33]<|zv|>dOne_: i'm not sure what the process for that is....I only use lvm here for managing the storage on our file server
[21:33]<mogn_>|rt| , yeh i just dont like the idea of all my file system thingies all under my /root ... so i wanted seperate partitions
[21:33]<kduu>wknight: if you enabled the LOG target.. then it would go to your system log... but thats only if you put a LOG rule in your uptables
[21:33]<mogn_>|rt| , hmm i was following the guide but lol it didnt do much for me
[21:33]<kduu>wknight: however, if you enabled ULOG.. then you could use ulogd to handle the logging, of course youd still have to put in the ULOG target
[21:34]<mogn_>i wonder why it wont let me emerge anything
[21:34]<mogn_>its all command not found or else id emerge try to re emerge lvm2
[21:34]<kduu>dOne_: did you chroot?
[21:35]<wcryrxv>nevermind. I found what I need. thx though
[21:36]<pugcdzsvnz>hm is there a bash profile for the user root?
[21:36]<affggjb>ULOG is markedeither obsolete or deprecated in current kernels if I remember correctly
[21:36]<jnff-o-fysxy>funkmaster : not by default.
[21:36]<kduu>AllenJB: really? what replaced it?
