[05:10]<vzyppym_hugvnz>Phenax: i'd go for freecraft first, but freeciv isn't bad
[05:10]<pwggrw>Nope, I haven't
[05:10]<znysyj>Phenax: it's a fun game :)
[05:11]<drdwry>reisio: the config.log say something like conftest.c:(.text+0xf): undefined reference to `sasl_version'
[05:11]<drdwry>then error exit 1.
[05:11]<znysyj>dcmwai: is that the _first_ error?
[05:12]<mzvyz>so I've got an iMac running OS X and my desktop running Gentoo... I'd like to be able to mount one of the Gentoo boxes drives on the OS X box, but not use NFS (NFS has all kinds of authentication issues, of course, needing common uids and all)... any thoughts?
[05:12]<drdwry>reisio: yep
[05:12]<znysyj>Matir: erm, surely you can mount the usual Linux filesystems in Mac OS...
[05:12]<pnnrnnf>reisio, apparently gcc-4.1.1 is emerged, but gcc --version reports 3.4.6.
[05:13]<znysyj>ferazel: like I said, you need to follow the guide
[05:13]<mzvyz>reisio, sorry, should've been more clear. I do want to mount it over the network
[05:13]<l-svrvya>ferazel, you need to use gcc-config, but read the guide first
[05:14]<l-svrvya>if you don't read the guide you'll break your system horribly; that's why it doesn't update automatically
[05:15]<mzxzzjg>hey guys, I'm trying to set up my desktop as a wireless router, and for some reason it isn't working. I can connect to the desktop wirelessly, but cannot get internet access. Something that seemed strange: from the laptop if I do a nslookup 192.168.0.1, I get an error. if I do nslookup <desktop hostname>, I get 127.0.0.1
[05:16]<znysyj>dcmwai: dunno, file a bug: http://bugs.gentoo.org/
[05:17]<drdwry>oh no...
[05:18]<crxlpy>monokrome: ?
[05:18]<djgjczjdn>yo
[05:19]<crxlpy>here is a list
[05:19]<rssjryrvnx>isomer`, did you ever figure it out?
[05:19]<djgjczjdn>kk
[05:19]<drdwry>reisio: will retry emerge -eav system && emerge -eav world
[05:19]<xmmzjrgg>way to overkompile
[05:19]<xmmzjrgg>>_<
[05:20]<xfyg2gzdrg>Yikes.
[05:20]<znysyj>dcmwai: erm, I'd definitely file a bug first :p but it did take me an entire week to do that command, so maybe my situation isn't quite yours
[05:20]<xfyg2gzdrg>dcmwai, Go to sleep. Come back in a few weeks. :)
[05:21]<xmmzjrgg>you can just do a -eav world
[05:21]<xmmzjrgg>and be happy
[05:21]<rssjryrvnx>is there a way to check for all man pages that start with net like using "man net<tab>" or something like that?
[05:22]<znysyj>AssociateX: whatis?
[05:22]<rssjryrvnx>whatis what?
[05:23]<rssjryrvnx>that's not a joke
[05:23]<znysyj>...
[05:23]<znysyj>man whatis
[05:23]<crxlpy>amsynth, elara, ultramaster juno6, bristol, legasynth, alsa modular, spiralsynth modular, mss, aube, rtsynth, jsyn, zynaddsubfx, cumulus, galan, jmax, pd, freebirth, ultramaster rs101, iiwusynth, rx/saturno
[05:23]<crxlpy>monokrome: ^^
[05:23]<rssjryrvnx>reisio, ok, thank you
[05:23]<rssjryrvnx>lol
[05:23]<znysyj>wtf is that a list of?
[05:24]<xmmzjrgg>AssociateX: you can emerge gentoo-bash-completion also
[05:24]<xmmzjrgg>and turn on other bash-completions
[05:24]<crxlpy>synth apps reisio
[05:24]<rssjryrvnx>hydrogen, I have that emerged but the tab complition didn't work. Is there something else that I should be reading?
[05:24]<xmmzjrgg>AssociateX: eselect bashcomp
[05:24]<rssjryrvnx>thank you
[05:25]<znysyj>CRXLPY: ah, fun
[05:25]<rsmp>seemant: ping
[05:26]<crxlpy>an aural artiste requested
[05:26]<sggdrgv>asdf: hey
[05:26]<sggdrgv>asdf: what's happening
[05:27]<sggdrgv>asdf: I'd pinged you about lunch, earlier :P
[05:27]<djgjczjdn>sorry buddy my roommate tripped
[05:27]<djgjczjdn>CRXLPY ^
[05:27]<crxlpy>tell him the clowns arent real
[05:27]<crxlpy>lol
[05:28]<djgjczjdn>lol
[05:28]<djgjczjdn>He tripped cuz I am messing around in spiral
[05:28]<crxlpy>already?
[05:28]<djgjczjdn>and I created a low osciallator, and linked it to output assuming it would be at a low level
[05:28]<crxlpy>u r quick
[05:28]<djgjczjdn>Loud.
[05:28]<djgjczjdn>Very loud.
[05:28]<axzjg>i can't add mp3's to xmms
[05:28]<crxlpy>ahh roknrol
[05:29]<crxlpy>chron: can you play them other wise
[05:29]<axzjg>yea
[05:29]<axzjg>with like kplayer for instance
[05:29]<axzjg>but i just can't add mp3's to xmms
[05:29]<axzjg>using the add button
[05:30]<crxlpy>can you add other audio types
[05:30]<znysyj>_in XMMS_
[05:30]<rrdrsy>chron, ditch xmms and get audacious.
[05:30]<znysyj>not sure why you're using XMMS when you have kmplayer...
[05:30]<djgjczjdn>CRXLPY: I've been doing audio for 8 years and done some colloege courses concerning DSP but have recently moved to linux and don't know what's worth trying.
[05:30]<axzjg>well my friend has the same problem
[05:30]<axzjg>because i'm helping a friend that prefers xmms
[05:30]<axzjg>i can't play a wav either
[05:31]<crxlpy>what happens
[05:31]<vzyppym_hugvnz>chron: try audacious
[05:31]<rrdrsy>well, audacious looks like xmms, but fixes some very annoying bugs. (like line breaks in playlists)
[05:31]<znysyj>Audacious uses GTK+2, though :)
[05:31]<rsmp>anyone get a 'Gdk::PixbufError' when they try to load lyx?
[05:32]<znysyj>asdf: http://bugs.gentoo.org/
[05:32]<znysyj>common bug
[05:32]<rsmp>reisio: ah cheers
[05:32]<znysyj>chron: what USE flags are enabled for your xmms? What version is it?
[05:33]<axzjg>alsa arts mmx nls
[05:33]<axzjg>oh
[05:33]<axzjg>i didn't enable mp3
[05:33]<axzjg>heh, i see now
[05:33]<znysyj>:p
[05:33]<sydvjwnz>does anyone know of a tutorial for securing sshd good enough to have it open to the world? i am nervous mine is not secure
[05:33]<xfyg2gzdrg>simtower, You can try Denyhosts.
[05:33]<xfyg2gzdrg>simtower, Truly, though.
[05:33]<znysyj>simtower: openssh is retardedly secure, any other security is going to be added by other packages afaik
[05:33]<axzjg>thanks
[05:33]<xfyg2gzdrg>simtower, The best way is, force Protocol 2 only. Disallow root access. And use a non-default port.
[05:33]<crxlpy>np
