[02:50]<2frrarrn>iain_: it's up to you, bare minimum is things you need to boot
[02:50]<rmfrs>.x
[02:50]<2frrarrn>jdlas: there is no other way...this is linux.
[02:50]<lzrvus>iain_: beyond what you need to see the disk subsystem, everything else can pretty much be a module
[02:50]<yryg_>blackace: What's the difference?
[02:50]<lzrvus>but i compile most everything in myself
[02:51]<2frrarrn>iain_: come again?
[02:51]<rmfrs>blackace but maybe pine has a command like pine -unistall
[02:51]<rmfrs>or something
[02:51]<rmfrs>.x
[02:51]<yryg_>blackace: Why would I make something a module or not?
[02:51]<lzrvus>iain_: you can unload modules (if support is compiled in)
[02:51]<2frrarrn>jdlas: it doesn't as it didn't install anything.
[02:51]<2frrarrn>jdlas: just use rm.
[02:51]<rmfrs>ok
[02:51]<lzrvus>sometimes handy for wonky sound cards or something
[02:51]<zgvzzus>blackace: etc-update for $HOME! :)
[02:51]<2frrarrn>antarus: don't start :)
[02:51]<2yv`>blackace, well he could emerge kde-meta, then could use the pretty gui to delete the folder
[02:51]<tycytdo>Anyone here have eperience with getting sudo working on an ldap server?
[02:51]<2frrarrn>bit`: would still be "manually" wouldn't it? :)
[02:52]<zajg2nznwwjzc>so the LiveCD properly detects my raid controller (a megaraid device) and loads the modules and drivers for it (lsmod/lspci) but no devices appear to be found on it nothing in either /dev/ or sys/blocks/ no ideas?
[02:52]<2yv`>blackace, bah, even removing it with portage is 'manual' ;)
[02:52]<vzjgzzy>I am having problems getting klibido to compile. I have read a couple threads in the gentoo forums but the suggestions for db linking haven't fixed anything. Any ideas?
[02:52]<2frrarrn>bit`: right-o :)
[02:53]<2frrarrn>aconbere1work: does your raid controller have a bios where you administer arrays?
[02:55]<zajg2nznwwjzc>blackace: yup!
[02:55]<2frrarrn>aconbere1work: did you create an array there?
[02:55]<syvzuayjus>for some reason my apache2 build is not seeing my entry for insomdev.com it sees the www version which should be the same. Anyone have an idea. config is here http://pastebin.ca/172278
[02:55]<zajg2nznwwjzc>blackace: I hadn't even thought to look there though, I suppose I could poke that around. (yeah the drives I believe are a raid 1 array mirroring eachother)
[02:55]<syvzuayjus>I'm just getting default apache page for it
[02:56]<rnjzrdj>Is there any support on linux for the duel DVI 30' monitors?
[02:56]<vxnxryfj>Georgyo if your video cards and drivers support it, the OS will
[02:57]<rnjzrdj>thehailo: In that case, does nvidia?
[02:57]<zajg2nznwwjzc>Sitrucious: you're overwriting your vhosts about 5 times in that file.
[02:57]<vxnxryfj>Georgyo yes, but only the very high end models can handle the rez (25xx by 19xx?)
[02:57]<jfznzn0w>ok
[02:57]<zajg2nznwwjzc>Sitrucious: it will simply use the last one in the list, they don't add into eachother
[02:57]<lzrvus>Georgyo: i have dual DVI 24" widescreen LCDs running off of Nvidia's TwinView... works great!
[02:57]<jfznzn0w>I got my videocard to work but not witht he i810 driver
[02:57]<vzjgzzy>Anyone have any ideas on my klibido compile errors? I have pasted the error here...http://pastebin.ca/172279
[02:58]<scugcd>olger901: does it hate you?
[02:58]<jfznzn0w>I got an Intel GMA945 card on my dell Inspiron 6400 but it tells me no devices detected
[02:58]<rnjzrdj>COOL, I know how I am upgrading now then. Thanks.
[02:58]<lzrvus>olger901: what version of X?
[02:58]<jfznzn0w>7.0
[02:58]<syvzuayjus>I have to redirect them eventually
[02:58]<lzrvus>hrm... i think have that same chipset on my laptop and it works...
[02:59]<syvzuayjus>aconberelwork: why do three of them work then
[02:59]<jfznzn0w>I810: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:0:2:1) found
[02:59]<jfznzn0w>No devices detected
[03:00]<zgm|zryg>is there a way to get a discription of a package? like with ubuntu I could "aptitude show <package name>" is there such a thing in gentoo?
[03:01]<zgvzzus>red|rain: esearch, eix, emerge -s <pkg>
[03:01]<zgvzzus>red|rain: the former you must emerge first
[03:01]<lzrvus>olger901: perhaps add 'BusID "PCI:0:2:1"' to your Device section in xorg.conf ?
[03:01]<zgm|zryg>antarus: why would I have to emerge the package first?
[03:02]<zgvzzus>red|rain: no, you need to emerge eix or esearch first ;)
[03:02]<lzrvus>olger901: you might need to create 2 device sections... that card can do a pseudo dual-head
[03:02]<zgvzzus>red|rain: as in they don't come standard
[03:02]<zgm|zryg>antarus: ahh ok thank you ^_^
[03:04]<jfznzn0w>I did
[03:04]<lzrvus>olger901: i don't have my laptop here... otherwise i'd pull my X config
[03:05]<vzjgzzy>Could someone take a look at the error I am getting when trying to compile klibido and see what I might need to do to fix it? http://pastebin.ca/172279
[03:06]<mysnzsnz>can anyone recommend any good math software?
[03:06]<vfxyv>diseaser: what type of math software?
[03:07]<syfvnz_alu>WOOT! I got freenx to (partially) work! It turns out that I needed to patch the nxnode file, and add in the nxclient v.1.5
[03:07]<tjaggmragud>is there a sane way to get regular users to mount smb shares?
[03:07]<mysnzsnz>tlhiv: I dunno heh.. anything really.. maybe a graphing calculator type app, tutoring app, anything really
[03:07]<syfvnz_alu>however, how that I have it running, every time I connect it shows an active session, but when I try to resume, or create a new session, it goes through the motions and then drops me back to the login box
[03:07]<syfvnz_alu>any ideas?
[03:08]<tjaggmragud>or more specifically, i wan't my desktop user account to be able to access a drive that is also being shared by samba.
[03:08]<lzrvus>TokenMacGuy: just use the smbmount command
[03:08]<lzrvus>all mount does it call it for you
[03:08]<tjaggmragud>non-root users can't use mount.
[03:08]<lzrvus>TokenMacGuy: they can if "user" is an option for that filesystem in /etc/fstab
[03:09]<lzrvus>TokenMacGuy: but that's why you use smbmount
[03:09]<lzrvus>no need for root
[03:09]<tjaggmragud>hmm, i'll see if that works.
[03:10]<tjaggmragud>sweetass, thanks privus:
[03:10]<jfznzn0w>gonna continue to puzzle tomorrow
[03:10]<jfznzn0w>cya al later bye
[03:10]<lzrvus>kp
[03:17]<2zyrgw>W8TAH: app-crypt/mit-krb5
[03:17]<wotah>brianw -- thanks -- found it -- sorry i forgot to tell you
[03:17]<wotah>i just joined the domain and i can see users
[03:17]<wotah>getting ready to try building a share
[03:18]<2zyrgw>W8TAH: sweet
[03:18]<wotah>yeps
[03:18]<2zyrgw>W8TAH: you may want to try and update the wiki if you get a chance
[03:18]<syfvnz_alu>anyone with any ideas why freenx client keeps going back to the login after i start up a new session?
[03:19]<wotah>brianw, im sorry -- i wouldnt do it any good at all - im wayyy to inexperienced for that -- ive been getting help from several places along this path
[03:19]<wotah>i would only mess things up
[03:19]<_mw69w_>Has anyone here got Unreal Tournament 2004 for Linux up and running?
[03:19]<2zyrgw>W8TAH: heh, I doubt it :)
[03:19]<wotah>:)
[03:19]<2zyrgw>W8TAH: I just looked at it, and it is pretty bad imo
[03:20]<wotah>ya - it is -- but.... so are my skills
[03:23]<rsxrc>Hi, I just installed Gentoo using a 2006.1 stage3, updated world, in /etc/conf.d/net I have a config_eth0 containing two ip addresses, when the init script for eth0 runs it seems to happily set the two IP addresses, but if I run ifconfig, only eth0 is listed, no eth0:1 like i've seen on older Gentoo systems. Both IP addresses I have configured are pingable, I just can't see the alias under ifconfig.
[03:23]<anddsan>depclean wants to remove virtual/opengl (provided by x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers). if i remove it and i need it, will re-emerging nvidia-drivers get the opengl virtual back?
[03:23]<dzzcmjzlx>anybody residents of Canada here? :-/
