[15:52]<sjfrdrwzzryrr>Normal routers only take one external IP
[15:52]<sjfrdrwzzryrr>I mean a router that takes over lots of public IP's, one for each machine on it
[15:52]<svjgngnwv>a router has one IP and lets the machines under it take a unique IP then routes all traffic to the specific IP...
[15:53]<svjgngnwv>now when each of those IPs is another router and some are interconnedted you start to get a WAN
[15:58]<-- gjmrm9ww xrs fuyv>http:www.devmatrix.org")
[21:28]<pxrgvjd>Hi there, I need a bit of unusual help... I need the part number of a component on the "pc chips M811 Ver:3.1" athlon board... does anyone have one near him?
[21:39]<zgmcjzn>hey guys
[21:39]<zgmcjzn>i'm putting together my computer
[21:39]<zgmcjzn>and the i/o panel, the little things on it are to hold back the mobo right?
[21:55]<2zyac>Phantom, very dubious...
[21:55]<2zyac>andkore, "things"?
[21:55]<pxrgvjd>a friend of mine got his board damaged during the shipping, the hd took that thing away..
[21:56]<slcjd2>brick: the small metal bits, I bet
[21:58]<2zyac>metal mounting tabs on the backplate?
[21:59]<pfd2rac>Phantom
[21:59]<pfd2rac>yes but you must say "I am a stupid canuck
[21:59]<pfd2rac>3 times first
[21:59]<pfd2rac>j/k
[21:59]<pfd2rac>hang on :P
[22:00]<pxrgvjd>k
[22:00]<lsd`>brick: the ones that stick out from the connector holes
[22:00]<pfd2rac>I don't have one but I think it's almosta clone of something I have
[22:00]<2zyac>LSD`, SpComb, andkore, i don't know what they are
[22:00]<pxrgvjd>in a corner near the DDR slots, you have D5, a TO92... I need the part number
[22:01]<pfd2rac>part number of which?
[22:01]<pxrgvjd>that thing is broken and lost
[22:01]<pfd2rac>oh
[22:01]<pfd2rac>damn
[22:01]<pxrgvjd>board is non-working because of that
[22:01]<lsd`>Phantom: It's a PC Chips so it's no great loss :P
[22:02]<pxrgvjd>LSD`: I know, but he's stuck on a k6 350MHz instead of an athlon 1.3
[22:02]<pxrgvjd>and no money for a new board
[22:02]<pfd2rac>looking
[22:02]<lsd`>Phantom: That K6 is probably on a Via-based Super7 board, right? Even Via is better than PC Chips shit
[22:02]<pfd2rac>lsd uhh no
[22:03]<pfd2rac>via socket 7 stuff is pure horshit
[22:03]<pfd2rac>I am dumping all the oens I have and giving people celerons to replace them
[22:03]<lsd`>flyback: Via stuff is pure horsehit, period
[22:03]<pfd2rac>na
[22:03]<lsd`>flyback: PC CHips is worse
[22:03]<pfd2rac>since KT266A and up are decent
[22:03]<pfd2rac>uhh dude
[22:03]<pfd2rac>pc chips uses via, ali or sis chipsets
[22:03]<pfd2rac>and they are even decent now
[22:03]<lsd`>flyback: The only reason people think Via shit is any good is because Intel fucked up and AMD didn't care
[22:04]<pfd2rac>na this is from talking to techs
[22:05]<pfd2rac>theer you are Phantom
[22:05]<pfd2rac>heh
[22:05]<pfd2rac>couldn't find the conversation in #electronics I was like wtf?
[22:05]<pxrgvjd>lol
[22:07]<pfd2rac>how many pins is this chip
[22:07]<pfd2rac>why didn't the shipper replace the board
[22:07]<lsd`>flyback: it's either a transisotr or a diode so either 3 or 2
[22:08]<pfd2rac>huh
[22:08]<pfd2rac>how would you know
[22:08]<lsd`>flyback: he said it was a TO92 package
[22:08]<pxrgvjd>I believe it's those variable zener
[22:08]<pfd2rac>ah
[22:08]<pxrgvjd>identified as D5
[22:08]<lsd`>TO92s are they those things with the metal tabs at the back?
[22:08]<pxrgvjd>and pin identified as R A C
[22:08]<pfd2rac>Phantom why don't you just email pc chips
[22:08]<lsd`>or the semi cylindrical things?
[22:09]<pfd2rac>d5
[22:09]<pfd2rac>d = diode
[22:09]<pxrgvjd>LSD`: D shaped
[22:09]<pxrgvjd>someone said it might be a lm431
[22:10]<lsd`>flyback: usually, but diodes don't typically come in TO92 packages
[22:10]<pfd2rac>actually
[22:10]<pfd2rac>those 3 pin diodes I forget what they call them
[22:10]<pxrgvjd>Adjustable precision shunt regulators
[22:11]<lsd`>Ah, TO-220 is the one with the metal tab
[22:11]<pfd2rac>lsd
[22:11]<pfd2rac>did you used to know someone named fishhead
[22:12]<lsd`>I saw hime here once or twice
[22:12]<pfd2rac>yeah that's me but I knew someone named lsd or mabye lsa from yrs back
[22:12]<pfd2rac>phantom I will tell you what I am doing
[22:12]<pfd2rac>so you can try the same
[22:13]<pfd2rac>google the board and keep looking at pics of it
[22:13]<pfd2rac>till you find one readable enough to get he chip id
[22:13]<pxrgvjd>hmm good idea
[22:13]<pfd2rac>you can even get sw to blow up the image a bit
[22:14]<lsd`>I'm not sure how well it would work though, the print on semiconductior packaging is usually fairly hard to read as it is, it'll be almost impossible on most low-res mobo propaganda pics...
[22:14]<pfd2rac>mabye it's best just to email ecs/pc chips then
[22:15]<pfd2rac>be back in a few mins
[22:21]<2zyac>Phantom, the last resort may be to buy another, study and return it
[22:23]<pxrgvjd>and get charged 25%
[22:25]<2zyac>"noone said it was going to be easy"
[22:37]<2ygdrgwo0>Will i be able to run a cr drive on its side?
[22:37]<2ygdrgwo0>CD*
[22:37]<pxrgvjd>binman180: can it hold the cd in the tray when it's on the side?
[22:37]<2ygdrgwo0>Or so the back of it faces the bottom of my case?
[22:37]<2ygdrgwo0>Think so?
[22:38]<pxrgvjd>if you can then it's fine
[22:38]<2ygdrgwo0>:) thanks
[22:38]<pxrgvjd>my dvd rom have some knotch that hold the disk in the tray when it's on the side
[22:38]<pxrgvjd>my 2 burners don't so can't be used on the side (as the disk won't stay in the tray)
[23:30]<bzrmm>hi, shold I install an internal case fan blowing in or blowing out?
[23:30]<pfd2rac>depends if in the front or back
[23:31]<pfd2rac>usually in the back should blow out since the power supply fan in the back blows out also
