[03:52]<hurrdb>yeah, going into a pentD805 sys that me and my dad are building a pair os w/the idea of clocking them in the 4.5 -5 2 range, from stock at 2,5
[03:53]<hurrdb>going in this case: ] www.mounta

[03:55]<hurrdb>http://www.mountainmods.com/gallery/ <-- that is how some folks have had this little company buiild there cases, these are not user mods but from the company
[03:55]<hurrdb>www.mountainmods.com
[03:57]<hurrdb>Jerr: yeah we are going to start on arir with a airconditioner (like a window unit) blowing in caold aire. i've seend numbers where the case themp have gotten to be aroun 15c w/the sys undeload and clocked at 4.2
[03:57]<jnzz>hehe
[03:57]<hurrdb>if we can go that route and hit 5.2 then we will prolly be happy
[03:58]<jnzz>I saw that my mobo was being used for a Conroe system
[03:58]<jnzz>phase change cooling plz?
[03:58]<hurrdb>if not neaxt comes water w/the ac unit used to sool teh resavor
[03:58]<jnzz>ASUS P5N32-SLI Deluxe

[03:59]<hurrdb>the boards we bought were Asus P5WDG2-WS
[04:00]<jnzz>mm
[04:00]<hurrdb>dual pci-e 2 pci-x (read pci 64 bit)
[04:00]<hurrdb>and three standard pci's
[04:01]<jnzz>hehe, I have 2 PCIe x16, 2 PCIe x2, 1 PCIe x4 and 2 PCI regular
[04:01]<hurrdb>the intel reaid controller for the prmary sata ports but the marvel for the secondary raid controller, which isn't so bad for me as i fun gentoo, but will be a little tougher for him as he will be running XP
[04:02]<hurrdb>yeah thios has those as well
[04:02]<hurrdb>we both just wanted to have 5 pci slots
[04:04]<gjmrmsjuf>HuggyB, gentoo.. good coiche :P
[04:04]<gjmrmsjuf>*choice
[04:04]<hurrdb>prolly going to go w/ 300 gb seagates in 50 raid on the intell contraoller then i will go 2 raptors stripped on the secondary and wait for sata to get in gear w/ dc/dvd rw drives
[04:05]<hurrdb>yeah, i'm a Gentoo guy all the way
[04:05]<gjmrmsjuf>50 raid?
[04:06]<jnzz>I don't get it, why would I want just 1 SATA raid port?
[04:07]<hurrdb>rather than try and explain ity heres a great links that explains all the types of raid configs
[04:07]<gjmrmsjuf>couse you are dumb? :P
[04:07]<hurrdb>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAID
[04:08]<hurrdb>nomadsoul: i am dumb?
[04:08]<gjmrmsjuf>don't know :P
[04:08]<gjmrmsjuf>ok raid 50 is raid 5 + 0 :P
[04:08]<jnzz>RAID 5 is already striping with parity, why would you want to stripe it again?
[04:09]<hurrdb>no ooffense but you don't know anything about my intelegence level nor my experience in whcih we are talking
[04:09]<hurrdb>:P
[04:09]<gjmrmsjuf>so why only 1 sata connector?
[04:10]<hurrdb>if you will read what i sent you you will unerstand
[04:10]<hurrdb>were did 1 sata connector come into this convo
[04:11]<gjmrmsjuf>i'm too tired
[04:11]<gjmrmsjuf>good{night,morning,evening,afternoon}
[04:11]<gjmrmsjuf>bye
[04:34]<jnzz>21:05:05 < Jerr> I don't get it, why would I want just 1 SATA raid port?
[04:55]<vjzxrd>how well are the nforce4 based motherboards working in linux?
[06:14]<sajvv__>how cheaply do you think you could build a thin client?
[06:16]<lsd`>depending on how you source the parts it shouldn't be all that expensive
[06:28]<svjzdsrrln>bwahahaha
[06:28]<svjzdsrrln>my 98SE box is working perfectly
[06:28]<svjzdsrrln>it can see the XP network
[07:37]<nnw2ynmjj>Is anyone familiar with the different T40+ models of the IBM Thinkpads?
[07:39]<sajvv__>LSD: are you familiar with amd geode?
[07:51]<nnw2ynmjj>Unfortunately no.
[07:54]<wrxrxrxr>the internet is soo fucki small
[07:54]<svjzdsrrln>Is there anyone out there who could possibly help me out and give me a link to an ISO of the 8500DV CD? Cause I've lost my CD.
[08:33]<vzyppym_hugvnz>Stormscape: maybe if you told us what an 8500DV is, you'd have better luck
[08:45]<lsd`>My first guess would be the Radeon 8500
[08:46]<lsd`>Stormscape: If that's the case, is there anything in particular you need from that CD? The more important things (drivers, etc) are usually provided on the manufacturers web site and are usually more up to date than whats provided on the CD
[08:46]<svjzdsrrln>the ATi Multimedia centre queries the Cd to make sure I really bought the card before it lets me install the Multimedia centre
[08:47]<lsd`>...
[08:48]<svjzdsrrln>I know
[08:48]<svjzdsrrln>it's gay
[08:49]<lsd`>I had something like that once. My old Diamond Viper V550 came with an OEM copy of motorhead but in order to ensure you only ran it on a system with the V550 installed it looked for Diamond branded OEM drivers. Of course, when you used the Detonator reference drivers or when Diamond stopped producing their own branded versions you were screwed
[08:50]<lsd`>It would be more productive to probe for the actual card but then that would be sensible
[08:50]<svjzdsrrln>holy hell my printer is a power hog
[08:50]<svjzdsrrln>my UPS reported a 150W jump in power usage when I tried to print a test page
