[05:40]<vvuvvfn>What's a good, tough (hardware-wise--not a Toughbook, but nothing flimsy) Core Duo laptop?
[07:29]<jnzz>ttuttle: MacBook Pro?
[07:37]<vvuvvfn>Jerr: Bah.
[12:44]<zzzgmznw>hi brick :-)
[14:28]<sddvxdqqq99>hello
[14:29]<sddvxdqqq99>anybody help a brother out?
[14:34]<trffu>just ask
[14:38]<xyxrq>I bought myself a new S-ATA disk yesterday. I already have a S-ATA disk connected, and I simply disconnected it and connected the new disk. Now, the BIOS hangs on «detecting ide drives». What could be the reason for this?
[15:06]<vajusc>XiXaQ: I had the same problem with a sata drive a while back, was too fast for my onboard controller, drive had a jumper to slow it down, this fixed it on my system.
[15:08]<xyxrq>this drive doesn't have jumpers I think.
[15:23]<mnznc_>Hello
[15:35]<mnznc_>I wonder if there is an equipment which connects a desktop HDD to a USB port externally to a laptop without needing an external adaptor for power
[15:39]<trffu>Ive seen those around.. cant remember the brand though
[15:39]<mnznc_>they take the power from USB?
[15:40]<trffu>yeah
[15:41]<mnznc_>cool
[15:42]<mnznc_>can you show any picture?
[15:43]<xyxrq>hmm. I've seen USB casings for IDE drives, but all of them needs external power.
[15:44]<trffu>Let me see if I can look it up
[16:17]<lzynsv>Can't "all new" video cards handle wide resolutions? Like 1440x900?
[16:20]<lzynsv>I have a Geforce MX 440.
[16:44]<svjzdsrrln>I broke my ISP's bandwidth meter
[17:36]<zrmzzrj>hi
[17:36]<zrmzzrj>ther is a pci-card that I can use to enter the output of sat digital decoder? like euroconnector?
[18:25]<zyrnpp>what's amd marketspeak for dual core?
[18:54]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>Anyone have a view on these "Powerline Ethernet Adapters"...? Friend of mine reckons they run a bit hot and are not that reliable - any views ?
[18:56]<zyrnpp>do you have.. a link? a datasheet? a manufacturer name?
[18:57]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>nothing
[18:57]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>just a general opion required ?
[18:57]<zyrnpp>then i don't know what they are
[18:57]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>are they any good?
[18:57]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>oh
[18:57]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>it's a technology for running ethernet over the power cables in the home
[18:57]<zyrnpp>horrible idea
[18:57]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>saves running ethernet cabling all over
[18:57]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>oh...
[18:57]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>haha
[18:58]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>fair enough...
[18:58]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>Why ?
[18:58]<zyrnpp>run the cable or get wireless
[18:58]<zyrnpp>at least in my area, i can only imagine the level of distortion attributable to dirty power
[18:58]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>i see....
[18:58]<zyrnpp>what speed are they boasting?
[18:59]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>naybe i should just run ethernet cables and be done with it
[18:59]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>50 mb ish
[18:59]<zyrnpp>that's what i did, but then.. i'm in a rental so i can drill holes and no one cares
[18:59]<zyrnpp>100mb ish is slow these days ^^
[19:00]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>haha
[19:00]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>well
[19:00]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>this is my house now so I can do as I please
[19:00]<zyrnpp>w00t
[19:00]<zyrnpp>let the drilling commence
[19:00]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>lol
[19:01]<2zyvysxsnzljwnz>i need a load of cable
[19:02]<zyrnpp>when i was an electrician i could buy it @ $40usd/1000ft
[19:02]<zyrnpp>imagine it would be a little over double that now
[19:13]<cvjs>hi, can you tell me does L3 cache of proccesor give some better performance for LAMP server? (linux, apache, mysql, php), please help me
[19:23]<cvjs>hi, can you tell me does L3 cache of proccesor give some better performance for LAMP server? (linux, apache, mysql, php), please help me
[19:28]<cvjs>am i heary?
[21:32]<gyajo9ow>hello
[21:34]<gyajo9ow>found an old HP deskjet 930c that i'd like to use with my laptop but i plan to clean the print heads before replacing the ink cartridge... would someone by chance know how to do it without the software tools? (should be possible with the printer's buttons but which ones?)
[22:06]<pfd2rac>nico hi
[22:06]<pfd2rac>isn't the cartridge the printhead on that model like most of hp's
[22:08]<gyajo9ow>dunno... found the hp tool on their site and according to it my "old" cartridge is almost full... i'm using the tool to clean it
[22:11]<gyajo9ow>well it seems to only print pink although it says my black cartridge is 100% full
[22:11]<gyajo9ow>:-/
[22:11]<2zyac>hehe
[22:12]<lsd`>yeah, older HPs tend to have the ink tanks and print heads in the same package - 'tis why the cartridges for 'em are so damned expwnsive
[22:13]<hjfgfgssggss>didn't that changed with newer ones either
[22:14]<lsd`>I have no idea, I haven't seen a HP printer in years
[22:14]<hjfgfgssggss>ugh
[22:14]<hjfgfgssggss>*didn't think that changed
[22:22]<ansy>is it ok to get some water in the plug on the bottom of the cellphone?
[22:22]<2zyac>what kind of cartridge approach do you guys think is most economical for occasional B/W? i don't know how the brands' approaches vary
[22:22]<ansy>does electricity run through there at all times or only when something is plugged in there?
[22:22]<2zyac>guess it depends on the phone, did you break it?
[22:31]<pfd2rac>nico hang on
[22:33]<pfd2rac>nico dude
[22:33]<pfd2rac>take one of the carts out
[22:34]<pfd2rac>see if it's the head
[22:35]<pfd2rac>yeah I just checked
[22:35]<pfd2rac>appears it's one of the models where the cart is the printhead
[22:36]<ansy>Find me the ingredients in RONOR INTERNATIONAL Anti-Reflective LENS CLEANER.
[22:36]<pfd2rac>probably just isopropyl alcohol
[22:36]<pfd2rac>it's bad to leave water in there
[22:37]<pfd2rac>you could flush it out with some isopropyl alochol
[22:37]<ansy>flyback, The lady at the store said it contains no alcohol.
[22:38]<ansy>flyback, And it doesn't evoporate like a high alcohol content would. And it suds up.
[22:38]<pfd2rac>dunno then
[22:38]<pfd2rac>google it
[22:39]<ansy>$100 PAYPAL instantly sent to the first lackey to find a list of the ingredients in RONOR INTERNATIONAL Anti-Reflective LENS CLEANER.
[22:39]<pfd2rac>duude
[22:39]<2zyac>hehe
[22:39]<pfd2rac>"RONOR INTERNATIONAL Anti-Reflective LENS CLEANER" msds
[22:39]<pfd2rac>in google
