[00:00]<zzzjgczdf2nff>:| I got a nice new monitor, and it looks like crap with my vid card
[00:00]<srdddw>excellent
[00:01]<srdddw>i got a old 19 inch tube type monitor
[00:02]<zzzjgczdf2nff>Sammy1: that's what I just upgraded from...
[00:02]<zzzjgczdf2nff>not a lot bigger, but widescreen and flat panel...
[00:02]<zzzjgczdf2nff>Dell 2007WFP
[00:03]<srdddw>ok
[00:03]<srdddw>mine is a 7dln monitort
[00:03]<srdddw>monitor*
[00:03]<2zyac>AaronCampbell, i just was shopping for radeon 9250 amd 9550, they seem to do it at around $40-$50
[00:04]<zzzjgczdf2nff>brick: I have a radeon 9250
[00:04]<zzzjgczdf2nff>I can't seem to make it do 1680x1050
[00:04]<2zyac>OK, but i think its specs say it will
[00:04]<zzzjgczdf2nff>hmmm...
[00:04]<2zyac>maybe only on one of two monitors
[00:05]<2zyac>i just got an FP202W, practically the same screen, yesterday
[00:09]<zzzjgczdf2nff>Any idea if dell has a list of "recommended" cards? Or is it more like "we recommend you buy a dell"
[00:12]<srdddw>they say buy a dell
[00:54]<grgrgr>hallo i have an eide main disk drive and I add a second one but when i m playing a song from the second one i see a delay in playing it.Any suggestion?
[00:55]<2zyac>use a bigger song buffer and don't connect IDE devices on the same bus, they have to wait for each other
[00:55]<grgrgr>a bigger song buffer how?
[00:55]<2zyac>depends on your player
[00:55]<grgrgr>winamp
[00:56]<2zyac>bbiab
[00:57]<grgrgr>could i have bigger song buffer in winamp player?
[01:14]<grgrgr>brick:i have installed the winamp player in the second drive and i see no delay now
[01:15]<2zyac>sounds unrelated to me, but OK
[01:16]<grgrgr>i think that thes programm installed in the c: have to wait to play the song in f: so if the programm is installed to f: then it's ok
[01:25]<cxzzjgx>Quick question, PC2 and PC2 SBDIMM are the same form factor? And you can use PC2 SBDIMM in any PC2 motherboard ?
[02:04]<zzzmgg>anyone know anything about the Asus P5W DH delux and conroe (core 2)? I just bought a processor and I would like to buy a motherboard for it
[02:10]<zzzmgg>anyone know of a channel where people actually talk about hardware?
[02:17]<lzjpjx`>I have a friend with a 3com network card and he can't get a network connection anymore... on his laptop it works fine though.. but on windows xp and ubuntu live on his pc it doesn't get an ip from dhcp
[02:17]<lzjpjx`>what could be wrong?
[02:19]<cxzzjgx>profoX`: DHCP disabled on the desktop ?
[02:20]<lzjpjx`>CharonX: no because I use DHCP in the ubuntu live cd
[02:21]<lzjpjx`>and I request dhcp with dhclient.. but it gets nothing
[02:21]<lzjpjx`>but on his laptop (dhcp - automatic ip (windows)) it works fine
[02:21]<quzszzzyaxvnz>PC2 SBDIMM? heh
[02:26]<kbfzyz>Grr, what's with the increase of RAM prices lately?
[02:26]<kbfzyz>RAM that was once $80 is now $105
[02:26]<quzszzzyaxvnz>happens all the time, blair.
[02:26]<quzszzzyaxvnz>really
[02:26]<kbfzyz>I'm guessing it has to do with oil prices
[02:29]<lzjpjx`>lol
[02:29]<lzjpjx`>hey can anyone help me? :(
[02:30]<lzjpjx`>network trouble..
[02:30]<lzjpjx`>3com card
[02:30]<lzjpjx`>I think it's the hardware
[02:41]<lzlnz>Anyone have any ideas on what a new pc build, has no OS installed, hangs at Verifying DMI Pool Data?
[03:11]<nwljsn>hi
[03:11]<nwljsn>anyone got an idea where to buy 4-pin fans? (PWM-style 4-pin, _not_ standard hdd-connector)
[03:12]<lzjpjx`>heey
[03:12]<lzjpjx`>any help :(
[03:12]<lzjpjx`>network card.. 3com.. not working right.. what should i try ?
[03:12]<lzjpjx`>dhcp works on laptop, not on the pc with 3com network card
[03:13]<lzjpjx`>I try sending a dhcp request but I get no IP from dhcp
[03:13]<lzjpjx`>cable modem is connected to the 3com card
[03:13]<lzjpjx`>without router/switch
[03:13]<nwljsn>does the card work in general?
[03:13]<lzjpjx`>well it's strange..
[03:13]<lzjpjx`>I think the hardware has failed somehow
[03:14]<lzjpjx`>because it doesnt work in windows Or linux
[03:14]<lzjpjx`>but when I plug the cable in my laptop I acquire an IP address in a matter of seconds (with dhcp)
[03:14]<lzjpjx`>te card gets detected though
[03:14]<lzjpjx`>lspci returns .. 3com.. something.. (it's my friends pc/laptop.. don't know precisely anymore)
[03:16]<nwljsn>Does the card work in general?
[03:16]<nwljsn>you didnt really answer this.
[03:22]<lzjpjx`>well.. how can I find that out.. the card gets detected..
[03:22]<lzjpjx`>but does it really work.. it doesn't get an IP address when I request one from DHCP
[03:22]<lzjpjx`>so I'm not sure
[03:28]<nwljsn>connect it to another pc?
[03:28]<nwljsn>or to some general network?
[03:28]<nwljsn>like your local LAN or so
[03:28]<nwljsn>if it works there, problem is specific to cable modem, if it doesnt, problem is specific to card itself
[06:34]<nnw2ynmjj>Can someone help me get my laptop connected to my desktop? I am having problems.
[06:44]<nnw2ynmjj>hello expose
[06:45]<nwljsn>hi
[06:45]<nwljsn>Newbiedoo: dont ask to ask just ask.
[06:45]<nwljsn>(concerning you laptop problem i mean)
[06:45]<nnw2ynmjj>I am having an awfull time. I bought this IBM Thinkpad used the person who sold it to me didn't provide any software.
[06:46]<nnw2ynmjj>I don't think I can install the wireless connection because I am missing drivers for the "ethernet". I have a bunch of yellow exclamation marks in device area.
[06:46]<nwljsn>windows or linux?
[06:47]<nnw2ynmjj>I am installing Win2k and plan on doing a dual boot with SUSE 10.1 and Win2k.
[06:47]<nwljsn>If windows, run driver assistent which wont help you since its windows, then boot knoppic run lspci as root and write down whats inside, reboot to windows and download the drivers.
[06:48]<nwljsn>if you do not have any networking, use usb-stick or burn a cd to get them on there.
[06:48]<nnw2ynmjj>IBMs site will allow you to connect your pc directly and download what is needed.
[06:48]<nwljsn>And, for the networking part of your problem i suggest ask in #networking first - i am not the best when it comes to that.
[06:48]<nnw2ynmjj>I am running Win2k. Would knoppix be ok for that?
[06:49]<nwljsn>you can also use suse to run lspci and write down the PCI devices installed in the box - this is just to help you get the drivers
[06:49]<nnw2ynmjj>You mean download the drivers from IBM?
[06:49]<nwljsn>Not neccessarily.
[06:49]<nnw2ynmjj>I do not have suse installed as of yet.
[06:50]<nwljsn>Maybe you have a intel-NIC in the laptop, so get the latest drivers from intel
[06:50]<nwljsn>or get the latest of nvidia, if you have a nvidia graphics chip in there and so on.
[06:50]<nnw2ynmjj>Thats an idea.
