[04:01]<lzjlxnvlx>i installed debian from a netinst cd but it gave me probs cuz my net stoppde workin ( damn buggy old 99 nic)
[04:02]<lzjlxnvlx>i dont know where to look. i am still a debian newbie but NOT to linux in general
[04:03]<mrrynfmr>what is the problem - the NIC doesn't work? or no IP?
[04:03]<lzjlxnvlx><--- is here on bitchx so it is just a bit confusin seeing 2 chans at once lol
[04:04]<lzjlxnvlx>the nic works alright LOL but it tends to stick in half duplex ... i almost 99% got that 1 prob, beat heh
[04:05]<lzjlxnvlx>hmmmm
[04:09]<lzjlxnvlx>thanks ... searching now.. but how do i find out which logging pkg i am using? I forgot lol

[04:14]<lzjlxnvlx>n/m i found sysklogd and klogd - what do i do now
[04:15]<lzjlxnvlx>i just need to know how to stop iptables from cluttering my screen. dpkg-reconfigure on my log daemon pkgs does no good
[04:16]<mrrynfmr>do you have a LOG line?
[04:17]<zj20>Yeah, just get rid of all -j LOG rules, problem solved.

[10:10]<wg2dzrrjg|rwrd>I'd like this May 31 02:45:32 localhost kernel: IN=ppp0 OUT= MAC= SRC=222.88.90.94 DST=70.111.75.246 LEN=40 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=101 ID=256 PROTO=TCP SPT=6000 DPT=7212 WINDOW=16384 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 to read kernel: [iptables-log] before spitting out the pile of data -- how do I edit the output logging so that it'll do this?
[10:19]<wg2dzrrjg|rwrd>mm tutorial had the answer. cool :) cheers
[10:20]<wg2dzrrjg|rwrd>good place for that url, up there ;)
[10:26]<zjgvzzvggvjz>hi
[10:26]<drwygn>hi, contraventor.
[10:27]<zjgvzzvggvjz>maxine =)
[10:27]<drwygn>contraventor: excuse me?
[10:27]<zjgvzzvggvjz>maxine i'm with problem on my net
[10:27]<drwygn>contraventor: what?
[10:27]<zjgvzzvggvjz>hehhe
[10:27]<zjgvzzvggvjz>nat on subnet 10.0.2-254.1
[10:28]<zjgvzzvggvjz>iptables -A POSTROUTING -t nat -s 10.0.2-254.1 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE
[10:28]<zjgvzzvggvjz>heheeh
[10:29]<zjgvzzvggvjz>bot tosco ma
[10:29]<zjgvzzvggvjz>bot tosco maxine
[10:35]<zj20>"10.0.2-254.1" is not proper IP address syntax. Do you mean 10.0.2.1 and 10.0.3.1 ... through 10.0.254.1? If so there's no good shorthand way to represent those.
[10:36]<zj20>10.0.0.0/16 might also be close to what you want ... that's 10.0.0.0 through 10.0.255.255.

[18:59]<ioszzggnz>anyone here running iptables and ipsec with 2.6.16 kernel?
[19:00]<ioszzggnz>I am not sure if I am having a firewall issue with my ipsec traffic or routing issue. I can ping and access system from the remote network wich is a cisco VPN with a network behind it.
[19:01]<ioszzggnz>I can't talk to anything the other way. Not sure where to look if IPtables is blocking it
[19:01]<ioszzggnz>any ideas?
[19:01]<nnnnnn>anyone have any ideas/thoughts/input on setting up an iptables linux firewall box with another one as failover? I need it to have identical rules and in the event of the main box failing, the other pickup the load
