[18:08]<xnljn>hi, I want to learn using of firewall in Linux. So, I started to read Firewall HOWTO from tldp.org. But it says i have to compile a new kernel. Then i downloaded kernel 2.6.17-6. But i can't find CONFIG_IP_MASQUERADE, CONFIG_FIREWALL.. in menuconfig. is there any patch for this? Or is the features not added to 2.6 kernel?
[18:12]<vyrn-vnzsr>XeLoN: Networking ---> Networking options ---> Network packet filtering (replaces ipchains) ---> ( Core Netfilter Configuration ---> and IP: Netfilter Configuration ---> )
[18:13]<xnljn>vice-versa: thanks, I'm looking right now
[18:14]<vyrn-vnzsr>XeLoN: the key one under Core being <*> Netfilter Xtables support (required for ip_tables)
[18:15]<xnljn>vice-versa: I looked there, but the variable names are not same

[19:34]<rlraxne>you cant
[19:34]<rlraxne>you can however scan an ip range and then look in your mactable
[19:35]<rlraxne>like nmap -p 80 -P0 192.168.0.0/24 followed by arp -a
[19:46]<s19g>any tips on making iptables log to specific filenames?
[19:47]<rlraxne>ULOG ?
[19:47]<rlraxne>but other than that
[19:47]<rlraxne>configure that in syslog somehow
[19:51]<s19g>Apachez: what do you use to catch ULOGs? syslog-ng?
