[03:56]<szzzzl>well, i used the command you gave me to run that app
[03:56]<mjxrmy2>i dunno then
[03:57]<szzzzl>hehe
[03:57]<szzzzl>hmm, well...even though i added export etcetc to /etc/profile, when i do echo $PATH, the JMF directory isnt in there
[03:57]<szzzzl>for some reason
[03:59]<ruyrjue>sagarp: did you login again ?
[03:59]<ruyrjue>or source /etc/profile
[03:59]<szzzzl>OH
[03:59]<szzzzl>guigouz, thanks, i knew i was forgetting something like that!
[04:00]<ruyrjue>just details :)
[04:00]<szzzzl>:P
[04:03]<szzzzl>grr..that player's player works fine, but the browser still doesnt know about JMF apparently
[04:04]<mg9> WOOOOOOOOOOT! GOOO SPURS!
[04:05]<mjxrmy2>sagarp: it played a mpeg for you?
[04:05]<szzzzl>yeah
[04:05]<mjxrmy2>nice :)
[04:05]<szzzzl>yeah :D
[04:05]<szzzzl>thanks man
[04:05]<mjxrmy2>np :)
[04:25]<my22fnrj>how can you get the VM to trust a certificate even though the HTTPS hostname is wrong?
[04:26]<my22fnrj>when you go to http://google.com/adsense the server presents a certificate with a hostname "www.google.com" and so the browser gives you a warning (should be "google.com") - but you click OK - I want the VM to do the same
[04:50]<sju|auvvnz>I'm getting some... unexpected results from running an xslt with saxon.... http://phpfi.com/118733 basically the result seems to be missing all the xml structure. Any thoughts?
[04:53]<tsurryrxrg>locks can be used between classes right? do you need to do anything special or will unlockAll() still work?
[04:55]<afracwnff>Tsukkichan: monitors? read up on multithreading in java
[05:00]<xra>Sou|cutter: XML question?
[05:11]<zzzvv>Why doesn't a simple java application that runs fine on windows run on linux? I'm using a very simple sample app as an example - java AlarmClock.class gives me Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: AlarmClock/class
[05:12]<zzzvv>I'll copy the source to a pastebin
[05:12]<sgjjffsd>If a non primitive object resides in a vector, but contains primitives inside its class, upon methods such as void setEnabled(boolean b); if I do myObject o = (myObject)vector.get(i); o.setEnabled(true), will it set the object thats in the vector as enabled?
[05:14]<zzzvv>http://pastebin.com/727584 if anyone wants to view the alarmclock app that will only run on Windows
[05:22]<tsurryrxrg>question? in the example http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/essential/threads/waitAndNotify.html , how do the Threads have ownership over eachother?
[05:22]<vynvyvq>is it possible to define an enum outside of a class (or in an interface)?
[05:26]<xra>gartt: java -cp . AlarmClock
[05:29]<xra>snooplsm: Yes.
[05:44]<gr2fr>tieTYT2: Sure.
[05:44]<gr2fr>An Enum is pretty much a class though.
[06:01]<mjxrmy2>pr3d4t0r: ?
[06:11]<znfraxs>how do i get the path of my app?
[06:13]<vrr>Is it just me or is JMS unecessarily complex
[06:13]<mjxrmy2>tag: but its an enterprise solution
[06:16]<vrr>I don't understand why a pub sub API has to be so convoluted
[06:17]<mjxrmy2>its all apart of be an enterprise solution
[06:17]<mjxrmy2>did you not get thye memo?
[06:17]<sazyfvdnvyf>i need a gui toolkit for java which is platform independent as Java, slightly intutive, but still giving me power and hopefully GPled
[06:17]<sazyfvdnvyf>any suggestions
[06:18]<mzaivnz>gtk? ;)
[06:18]<mjxrmy2>ScriptDevil: swing?
[06:18]<mzaivnz>oh for java
[06:18]<vrr>awt?
[06:19]<sazyfvdnvyf>mohadib, i that i think ill take but whats ant
[06:19]<mjxrmy2>er
[06:19]<mjxrmy2>sure?
[06:19]<ajvvyzznz>oh man
[06:20]<sazyfvdnvyf>tag: awt is not good . Java folks themselves themselves said it was made in a hurry
[06:20]<znfraxs>(05:11:47)<relachs>how do i get the path of my app?
[06:20]<sazyfvdnvyf>mohadib: it is not ill but i'll
[06:20]<mjxrmy2>ok :P
[06:20]<vrr>ScriptDevil: Ok.
[06:20]<vrr>they both suck
[06:21]<mjxrmy2>swing is decent
[06:21]<vrr>in what regard?
[06:21]<sazyfvdnvyf>tag: thats why i wanna know what to choose any ideas from here http://home.pacbell.net/atai/guitool/
[06:21]<mjxrmy2>a like the api , and its easy to use
[06:21]<ajvvyzznz>yeah, awt is an afterthought
[06:21]<mjxrmy2>imho
[06:21]<vrr>I'd rather not write GUI apps for java, honestly.
[06:21]<ajvvyzznz>swing is actually pretty decent once you grok its model
[06:21]<mjxrmy2>jottinger: yep
[06:21]<z2ysgg_wjzc>i am unable to download j2sdk from java.sun.com is it my ip issue or the site is down
[06:22]<z2ysgg_wjzc>?
[06:22]<vrr>swing isn't supposed to come with a model, it's a view and a controller, you bring your own model...atleast that's what I would expect from it
[06:22]<sazyfvdnvyf>abisen_work: which distro??
[06:22]<ajvvyzznz>uhhhh
[06:22]<azdjzyaas>Nope.
[06:22]<azdjzyaas>It has a model too.
[06:22]<ajvvyzznz>abisen_work: it works for me
[06:22]<z2ysgg_wjzc>ScriptDevil, j2sdk 1.5 x86_64
[06:22]<sazyfvdnvyf>i think the deb package is there everywhere
[06:22]<vrr>kamoricks: so what part am I supposed to write?
[06:22]<vrr>heh
[06:22]<azdjzyaas>You better freakin make sure your model works with theirs. And since theirs remains closed source, if it doesn't, you have to change yours.
[06:22]<mjxrmy2>tag: you override or implemnt a model the gui can work with
[06:22]<z2ysgg_wjzc>jottinger, it works for me to but as soon as i press the download link
[06:22]<z2ysgg_wjzc>it dosent connects
[06:23]<vrr>I see
[06:23]<sazyfvdnvyf>abisen_work: do u use linux??
[06:23]<vrr>fair enough
[06:23]<azdjzyaas>tag: Well, you're supposed to tell what to display where.
[06:23]<z2ysgg_wjzc>ScriptDevil, yes RHEL 4
[06:23]<sazyfvdnvyf>get the rpm
[06:23]<sazyfvdnvyf>yum install j2sdk??
[06:23]<vrr>kamoricks: See, I don't like program source to do that
[06:23]<vrr>because, program source is difficult to change
[06:23]<z2ysgg_wjzc>if you go there ... http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
[06:23]<z2ysgg_wjzc>click on the download link does it work
[06:23]<ajvvyzznz>uhhhh
[06:23]<ajvvyzznz>tag: what?
[06:23]<vrr>Although, I suppose if you were to embed rhino, swing wouldn't be too bad.
[06:23]<z2ysgg_wjzc>i am behind the firewall and setting up proxy with yum is not working for me
