[00:27]<xasv>+I put an ubuntu live cd in my powermac in the office today and it made more noise booting than I've ever heard it make under osx

[00:34]<mgfygcr>+hjst: electrical transformers don't have moving parts and they make noise - not the disks, the sound can change with mouse movement (and goes back to the original sound when the mouse stops) - I suspect electrical/magnetic somethings cause the noise
