[00:01]<sxzzcxzv>BA BSc MA MSc MBA PhD
[00:01]<sxzzcxzv>Within 4-6 weeks!
[00:01]<sxzzcxzv>No Study Required!
[00:01]<sxzzcxzv>100% Verifiable!
[00:01]<ljjlsdyvx>Oh, sweet.
[00:02]<ljjlsdyvx>I bet it's from Princeton.
[00:02]<sxzzcxzv>yea, i am really excited about my 5 degrees i am purchasing
[00:02]<sxzzcxzv>lol
[00:02]<ljjlsdyvx>They're probably useless.
[00:02]<ljjlsdyvx>I.e. from Vassar.
[00:02]<sxzzcxzv>and then to cover up the spam, they put a little quote of some random book.. "
[00:02]<sxzzcxzv>All cassava get same skin but all nah taste same way. The first step is the hardest. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause. Fish ah deh ah watah but nah ah dam tap. One beats the bush, another takes the bird Past cure, "
[00:03]<ljjlsdyvx>It's not from some book. It's partly random.
[00:03]<sxzzcxzv>really?
[00:03]<sxzzcxzv>i saw one once that was a quote from The Hobbit
[00:03]<ljjlsdyvx>haha
[00:03]<ljjlsdyvx>I believe they try to piece together random words in a proper English syntax. Or piece together random sentences from many sources. >Not sure which.
[00:04]<ggrfrvgm>nah it's like the fortune cookie factories
[00:04]<ggrfrvgm>they have a bunch of people sitting around
[00:04]<ljjlsdyvx>haha
[00:05]<jz2yvrf>hello again... what happens when you don't follow the "leave charger connected until fully charged" recommendation?
[00:05]<sxzzcxzv>you cut the life of your battery
[00:06]<sxzzcxzv>noticeably
[00:06]<jz2yvrf>aside from throwing off the calibration, can an incomplete charge hurt a fully discharged battery?
[00:06]<ggrfrvgm>just return it now
[00:06]<sxzzcxzv>no, not if it was already calibrated
[00:06]<sxzzcxzv>lol
[00:07]<c-rjm>Answering Stuffit, linux tools, build on OS X: http://linuxmafia.com/faq/Apps/stuffit-archives.html
[00:10]<c-rjm>... but doesn't handle recent sit files.
[00:10]<jz2yvrf>heh
[00:10]<jz2yvrf>too old to return
[00:10]<c-rjm>Eg: what system-profiler generates.
[00:15]<mzgmzya>does anyone have a mod_dav_svn.so that works with default macosx webserver?
[00:17]<mzgmzya>oh, nm i guess that requires apache2
[00:21]<djd>hey folks, finder keeps crashing for one of the users here. we've got the latest 10.4.6 with updates installed and when she logs in finder keeps rapidly crashing. looking online, the recommendation is to remove her ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist, which doesn't help
[00:22]<djd>It's just this one user and it happens on at least the two machines we can try
[00:23]<2gguz2rg>dom: hold shift after clicking login?
[00:25]<djd>BenUrban, that lets us pick her primary group and then when the login continues, same failure
[00:25]<2gguz2rg>dunno then
[00:28]<cryus>dom: try trashing ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist
[00:30]<djd>no luck from that either, Caius
[00:30]<wjgcgu_>eat pizza
[00:33]<cryus>dom: what was the last thing she installed (if any?)
[00:33]<djd>Caius, probably nothing. She's a user and we just re-imaged the lab
[00:34]<cjjgnz6t0>hello
[00:34]<cjjgnz6t0>anyone here use Fink?
[00:34]<cryus>dom: and other users on the same machine can login fine?
[00:35]<djd>right
[00:35]<djd>Cooner750, everyone uses fink
[00:36]<djd>Caius, this is definately a per-user issue and not machine dependant. I'll ask her about applications though
[00:36]<cryus>dom: sounds like theres something in that account making finder crash then
[00:37]<2gguz2rg>hence the shift key
[00:37]<2gguz2rg>but i don't think it's supposed to ask about groups
[00:37]<2gguz2rg>is this tiger?
[00:38]<djd>yes, tiger
[00:38]<cryus>BenUrban: sounds like its pulling the user data from a server
[00:38]<2gguz2rg>oh
[00:38]<2gguz2rg>didn't see anything about that in the training course :/
[00:39]<cryus>dom: are these mobile accounts? (I think they're called that)
[00:39]<djd>it sure is. NFS mounted home directory, users are in the opendirectory on an xserver
[00:41]<sxzzcxzv>nfs?
[00:41]<sxzzcxzv>on os x?
[00:41]<sxzzcxzv>oh no
[00:41]<sxzzcxzv>we switched to ldap and afp
[00:43]<sxzzcxzv>damn, it seems like if i want our web site to be cool (tm) it has to have all rounded corners
[00:43]<sxzzcxzv>can i get some feedback on looks and usability from you guys?
[00:43]<cryus>sharkhat: url?
[00:44]<wjgcgu>yeah give the url sharkhat
[00:44]<zyzxzzmp>sharkhat: http://82.152.52.97/ :)
[00:44]<wjgcgu>sharkhat, for rounded corner u can use CSS3, or image with div
[00:44]<cryus>or javascript
[00:45]<cryus>RichardP: nice
[00:45]<djd>sadly, sharkhat, NetApp doesn't support AFP and neither does anyone else on the planet.
[00:45]<sxzzcxzv>http://www.cs.uiowa.edu/~skuhl/solltech/index.html
[00:46]<sxzzcxzv>RichardP: your site inspired me a bit on the layout
[00:46]<sxzzcxzv>i liked the opaic buttons and highlight on hover part a lot
[00:46]<sxzzcxzv>how did you get rounded corners RichardP
[00:47]<zyzxzzmp>sharkhat: iamges with alpha set
[00:47]<sxzzcxzv>i was trying to use niftycorners, a javascript libreary, but things stopped working so nicely once it vailidated
[00:47]<wjgcgu>crappy
[00:47]<sxzzcxzv>crappy? "(
[00:47]<rgmygyus>So the Apple store is too busy to deal with me. AppleCare said to take to some place in town.
[00:47]<sxzzcxzv>WHAT?
[00:47]<sxzzcxzv>that is insane aedinius
[00:47]<wjgcgu>sharkhat, i mean using a java lib for rounded corner is crappy
[00:48]<sxzzcxzv>wonknu: o yea, i stopped using it..
[00:48]<rgmygyus>I get to take it to CompUSA
[00:52]<smgm`>CompUSA > Apple Store
[00:52]<sxzzcxzv>lol
[00:53]<pzjjmyrg>now, let's see, if the alligator mouth is eating it, does that mean it's bigger or smaller?
[00:53]<cryus>RichardP: I do like that site, snazzy
[00:55]<sxzzcxzv>:( no suggestions on my crappy ditty
[00:55]<sxzzcxzv>i bet if my corners were rounded people would say "ooo nice" and "very web 2.0"
[00:56]<2jfzjm>is there someone on this planet that can explain 'web 2.0' anyway
[00:56]<pzjjmyrg>please, web 2.0 is so last year
