[01:12]<vygvyg>hi, i'm trying to get working some CP210x USB<->UART bridge, it does not seems to be a driver for netbsd, but it does for openbsd, is it easy to port it for netbsd ? anyway, when it is plugged, it is discovered as ugen0: Silicon Labs CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller, rev 1.10/1.00, addr 2, is this just a vendor/product recognition ?
[01:14]<zz0w>I just find this http://mail-index.netbsd.org/netbsd-bugs/2006/05/16/0008.html about it
[01:16]<vygvyg>wow ar0x i didn't find anything good about that, was that on google ? o_O
[01:17]<zz0w>yep :)
[01:18]<zz0w>searching "CP210x netbsd" ;)
[01:19]<vygvyg>i must be in another dimension
[01:19]<vygvyg>sorry
[01:19]<ddnsr>sweden is another dimencion? o.0
[01:19]<jdzezycssg>No, that it is not :)
[01:19]<ddnsr>:P
[01:19]<vygvyg>fr is france
[01:19]<dgzgyf>i need a bourbon, one scotch and one beer! and FAST! ;-)
[01:20]<dgzgyf>im so freaked out .. been horrased two times now :-|
[01:21]<jdzezycssg>mernil: I'm starting to understand why you gave up the tkd :-)
[01:21]<dgzgyf>omrErikssn: :-)
[01:21]<dgzgyf>actually im thinking of taking up something else .. not so violent martial art
[01:22]<dgzgyf>not tai chi .. but something softer .. for exercise
[01:22]<dzezycssjg>Well, I don't really concider tkd to be violant
[01:22]<dgzgyf>mrEriksson: it was i can assure you ;-)
[01:23]<dzezycssjg>Oh,,, Still, I don't see it.
[01:23]<dgzgyf>at least when i happened to kick someone with a roundhouse kick and the police came .. gah it was horrible :-/
[01:23]<dzezycssjg>On the other hand, I've only been doing it for three years or so..
[01:24]<dgzgyf>mrEriksson: what is your rank?
[01:24]<dgzgyf>colour of your belt?
[01:24]<dgzgyf>but i cant judge it, ur itf
[01:24]<dzezycssjg>Well, perhaps,, But imo tkd does not focus enough on how to get power in your kicks..
[01:25]<dzezycssjg>4 cup only
[01:25]<dgzgyf>thats pretty good anyway
[01:25]<dzezycssjg>Well, perhaps,, I just enjoy the exercise :)
[01:26]<dzezycssjg>belts are a side-effect :)
[01:26]<dgzgyf>yeah.. at least wtf focus to much on game-teckniqs .. not so much on self defeence
[01:26]<dzezycssjg>Umhum,, I think that's the problem with both itf and wtf, both have lost the focus on what it's all really about..
[01:27]<dgzgyf>mrEriksson: you are prolly true!
[01:27]<dzezycssjg>On the other hand, wtf is WAY more focused on competition, and they have ALOT more members too :)
[01:28]<dzezycssjg>So I guess that could be a reason for this to.. Members are needed to pay the bills :)
[01:28]<dgzgyf>yeah, therefor i somewhat is drawn to jujutsu, they are more focused on selfdefence, and if you want to compete, the you combat-jutsu
[01:29]<dgzgyf>but the best self defence is of course to run away and stay out of trouble :-)
[01:29]<dzezycssjg>anyway, I don't do tkd because I love the style or believe it to be the best thing there is,, but it's an exercise-model that suits me quite well and the club and its members are great..
[01:30]<dgzgyf>mrEriksson: okay! Its great training thats for sure!
[01:30]<dzezycssjg>Right, I do like jujutsu more too,, But that's probably because it was the martial art I first started out with :)
[01:31]<dgzgyf>aha :-)
[01:39]<vygvyg>ar0x can I get the bz2 out of the webpage ?
[01:39]<vygvyg>or somewhere else ?
[01:41]<zz0w>yep, just copy thew to two file and run uudecode them
[01:41]<zz0w>-w+m
[01:41]<vygvyg>cool
[01:41]<vygvyg>thanks
[01:42]<zz0w>but it doesn't seem to bz2 file but just source file
[01:42]<zz0w>hum .. so sorry, it vim which bunzip2 them ..
[01:43]<zz0w>s/so/no/
[01:43]<vygvyg>ok
[01:53]<vygvyg>sorry ar0x, but how can I compile this ? i've looked at the simple fibo lkm example but there is no command for compiling it...
[01:54]<zz0w>but there don't seem to be any patch to do the proper kernel integration (on files.?, attach/detach code ...)
[01:55]<vygvyg>:/
[01:56]<vygvyg>how did he test it... He must have written that
[01:56]<vygvyg>I may mail him
[02:25]<xdff>hello
[02:41]<rraffsax>vinvin: I'm here. (Also, I just replied to that message.)
[02:41]<fysx->good bye
[02:45]<vygvyg>didn't see you here jakllsch :) i've seen it, i'm recompiling the kernel
[02:45]<vygvyg>thanks for the reply
[02:50]<vygvyg>it did compile properly
[02:51]<rraffsax>good
[02:52]<vygvyg>i reboot it
[02:53]<vygvyg>jakllsch did you ever code some program that uses the CP210x ?
[02:54]<rraffsax>not other than that driver, the ucom(9) layer allows it to act as a tty
[02:54]<vygvyg>ok
[02:55]<vygvyg>I have troubles using it with linux :/ I may not have set the right params for termios
[02:56]<vygvyg>damn i've forgotten the vendor and product id, it's detected as ugen
[02:58]<rraffsax>run `usbdevs -v` to find those numbers
[02:59]<vygvyg>yes thanks
[03:03]<vygvyg>great it is detected
[03:04]<vygvyg> portno -895191652 is this ok ?
[03:04]<rraffsax>yes, I seem to remember seeing something about like that
[03:05]<vygvyg>ok
[03:07]<vygvyg>jakllsch i'm not able to find the driver number for mknod
[03:08]<rraffsax>try /dev/ttyU0
[03:09]<vygvyg>oh it's already created allright
[03:19]<vygvyg>jakllsch if I chmod 666 /dev/ttyU0 will it be bad ?
[03:19]<rraffsax>only if there are other people who use your computer
[03:20]<vygvyg>ok
[03:21]<vygvyg>that's ok, i've got the same problem than with linux now, my program isn't able to read data from it, but open and write seem ok
[03:21]<rraffsax>have you tried something simple like tip or cu yet?
[03:22]<vygvyg>i don't know what tip or cu are
[03:22]<2zgzgzpzzd>hi, i'm installing netbsd-3.0 through an old cd i had (2.0rc4), downloading the sets from the ftp... is there something i might be missing doing it this way?
[03:22]<vygvyg>jakllsch do you know what flags must be set in termios struct for cp2102 ?
[03:23]<vygvyg>bananafarm http://wiki.onetbsd.org/index.php/How_to_upgrade_NetBSD this is a good link :)
[03:23]<rraffsax>they are programs that connect your terminal to the serial port, and have some auxillary functions, `cu -l /dev/ttyU0 -s $BITRATE` for example
[03:24]<2zgzgzpzzd>vinvin, hi, there is no system yet, i just used the 2.0 cd to boot the installer and download the 3.0 sets
[03:25]<vygvyg>bananafarm I don't know how this is supposed to be done so.
[03:26]<2zgzgzpzzd>vinvin, np, thanks
[03:26]<rraffsax>oh, and <enter>~. to get out of cu or tip
[03:27]<vygvyg>lol thanks
[03:31]<vygvyg>damn ~. closed my ssh too
[03:32]<vygvyg>jakllsch, btw i don't think this will be usefull to me, since i have to send special bytes on the device to make the mcu which is behind the uart communicate on it
[03:43]<rraffsax>ah, this isn't something like the phone cable I was using to test with
[03:46]<rraffsax>unfortunatly I've never dealt with the tty API, so I can't really help you there
[03:48]<vygvyg>ok
[03:49]<vygvyg>the worst thing is i've got the windows code for tty parameters, and doing exactly the same with linux or netbsd does not work...
[03:50]<vygvyg>I'm goind to bed jakllsch, thank you for the driver, and thanks for the help !
