[10:37]<2zzmm_2z>ok.. I'm having problems getting into openfirmware on my ppc.. the keyboard works, but the video is just a white screen.. I've applied the patches required by the netbsd install docs, but I still get the blank white screen.. any ideaqs?

[10:50]<2rff>grumpydog: it's not that. Mine has shoddy firmware and I'd like to find a replacement that pretends to be a Hayes modem on the end of a serial cable (or perhaps on the end of a ucom... )

[10:52]<2rff>grumpydog: I'm about to buy a new phone anyway. It's unfortunate that new firmware from the same manufacturer may contain worse bugs than what's already in there... I'm reminded of Netgear routers.

[10:53]<zzumlmmjz>ball I only use serious netgear and cisco kit. I must admit some netgear sucks my mums greasy hairy nipples as does lower end kit.

[10:58]<2rff>I'm not familiar with Linux, so I'm not sure I'd attempt that. I think there are some tiny-footprint Linuxes though, which might be an advantage

[14:59]<jzslnzw>i've got a dual proc SS20, and it's fairly loud.
[15:00]<jzslnzw>IPC's are quite, but there a bit too slow to be useful.
[15:01]<jzslnzw>are you in the UK? you can have the SS20 if you want, dual SM61's, i replaced the PROM/RTC whithin the last 5 or 6 years.
