[11:04]<2rff>...and what dependencies you lack
[22:53]<wsduzp>but, it's not impossible... are you gonna dual boot or will you trash mac os after??
[22:53]<zsvzz-w>doesn't matter
[22:53]<zsvzz-w>whatever works
[22:54]<zsvzz-w>this is going to be a server
[22:54]<zsvzz-w>once i get netbsd rolling
[22:55]<zsvzz-w>so i need to find documentation on how to netboot it
[22:56]<wsduzp>ok, so yeah forget yaboot
[22:57]<zsvzz-w>i am honestly ready to trash this machine and just pick up a neworld
[22:57]<zsvzz-w>or go use of the many x86 machines i have laying around
[22:58]<wsduzp>heh, don't you like challanges?
[22:58]<wsduzp>took me like a week when I first started with the 6500
[22:59]<zsvzz-w>yeah but th benefit is really worthless to th challenge
[22:59]<zsvzz-w>it have a 4 gig scsi drive in this machine
[22:59]<zsvzz-w>not a whole lot of data can work on that
[23:04]<zsvzz-w>however
[23:04]<zsvzz-w>i have a imac g3 500 new world
[23:04]<zsvzz-w>it could serve enndless data!!!
[23:09]<wsduzp>hee
[23:09]<wsduzp>*hehe
[23:10]<wsduzp>yeah that'd be a nice server apart for the fact that you can't turn off the monitor nor install more drives :/
[23:10]<wsduzp>I picked up a G4 DigitalAudio real cheap (real real cheap), it's a great server machine
[23:12]<wsduzp>hmmmpf realy, what the .... "PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/pkg/lib/php/20040412/mysqli.so' - /usr/pkg/lib/php/20040412/mysqli.so: Shared object has no run-time symbol table in Unknown on line 0"
[23:19]<lyllyag>does anyone want to join my workshop about Security?
[23:21]<ugnw>xSmurf: cvs up
[23:24]<wsduzp>I updated the pkgsrc yesterday (from cvs)
[23:37]<ugnw>xSmurf: Which Apache MPM are you using?
[23:43]<zsvzz-w>hey #netbsd, why would i want to run netbsd over openbsd?
[23:45]<rrl>astra-x, because you ask.
[23:45]<rrl>:)
[23:46]<rrl>astra-x, besides pkgsrc is really great.. although you can run it on OpenBSD too.
[23:48]<zsvzz-w>pkgsrc builds from source or just installs binary packages?
[23:48]<rrl>astra-x, both it can.
[23:49]<rrl>Most people build themselves though.
[23:49]<zsvzz-w>i want someone to sell me netbsd like their life depended...i am lazy like that
[23:49]<mrvnbsm>the reason is that netbsd runs on more architectures
[23:49]<wsduzp>Unex: MPM?
[23:49]<mrvnbsm>and the people who use it are generally much cooler than OpenBSD folk
[23:50]<wsduzp>re pkgsrc: I usually build, but on my Cobalt Qube is takes a heck of a long time, so me and my friend build for each other, so first one to want something buildsit and uses pkg_tarup to make a binary of it
[23:50]<wsduzp>very neat
[23:50]<ugnw>xSmurf: Multi Processing Module - prefork, worker, etc..?
[23:50]<wsduzp>daveBSD: hehe for sure, and think abou the ppl who use Free :PPP
[23:51]<ugnw>xSmurf: And what about them?
[23:52]<zsvzz-w>yeah, I happen like to the openbsd community, as i currently a part of it
[23:53]<rrl>astra-x, then stay with it! But OpenBSD is not as much fun as NetBSD :-p
[23:53]<zsvzz-w>bah, that is why computer nerds are not salesmen
[23:54]<zsvzz-w>if you can get xen to run on all 57 platforms...
[23:54]<rrl>astra-x, OpenBSD's kernel is slow compared to the other BSDs and Linux, if you need scaleable systems. And OpenBSD's packages are often outdated as hell.
[23:54]<zsvzz-w>cap, you are my new friend
[23:55]<zsvzz-w>netbsd still has the fatest tcp/ip stack, correct?
[23:57]<rrl>Dunno, you can have a look at http://bulk.fefe.de/scalability/ though. Maybe there's a newer benchmark.
[23:59]<zsvzz-w>thanks
