[00:05]<zsvzz-w>ehh maybe
[00:06]<zsvzz-w>this on my openbsd server which i set up the email about 5 months ago
[00:06]<zsvzz-w>i'd have to look at my documentation on how i set it up
[00:07]<wsduzp>damn
[00:07]<wsduzp>I'd looking at the doc and all but it ain't working
[00:07]<zsvzz-w>i am about to leave work and go on vacation
[00:07]<zsvzz-w>so maybe wenesday
[00:07]<zsvzz-w>i'll help you
[00:08]<wsduzp>nice
[00:08]<wsduzp>all the howtos online are for postfix+courier+mysql
[00:08]<wsduzp>I don't wanna use SQL :/
[00:08]<zsvzz-w>i am getting a new world g3 for my powerpc project
[00:08]<zsvzz-w>WHAT WHAT?
[00:08]<zsvzz-w>you must sql
[00:08]<wsduzp>well I'd rather not if I can avoid it (just one more link that can break ;o)
[00:08]<zsvzz-w>mysql compeles you with the power of christ
[00:09]<wsduzp>the christ is dead... see where it leads you ;p
[00:09]<zsvzz-w>people say mysql sucks on *bsd
[00:09]<zsvzz-w>and it hasn't broken once
[00:09]<zsvzz-w>for me
[00:09]<wsduzp>me neither actually
[00:21]<zsvzz-w>i've got gnome 2.14 stable on freebsd
[00:21]<zsvzz-w>and gnome is pretty much written for linux
[00:54]<czysvrfygj>hi
[00:54]<czysvrfygj>is xen on netbsd stable enough for serious work ?
[01:19]<xrrvns>is there a way to check if there are any leftover dependencies?
[01:38]<xsrfyrc>\
[01:41]<xrrvns>xgates@NetBSD ~# pkg_chk -c
[01:41]<xrrvns>-c is deprecated - use -a -n
[01:41]<xrrvns>xgates@NetBSD ~# pkg_chk -i
[01:41]<xrrvns>-i is deprecated - use -u -n
[01:41]<xrrvns>sheesh everything I keep checking is deprecated
[01:42]<xrrvns>can pkg_chk be used to find leftover dependencies?
[01:42]<xrrvns>trying to figure looking at this help, if it works in this way
[01:51]<xsrfyrc>hi
[01:51]<xsrfyrc>im drunk
[01:51]<xsrfyrc>Hic!
[01:52]<xrrvns>hehe don't fall out your chair
[02:23]<dyszpyz_>anybody using ccache?
[02:24]<dyszpyz_>is it really faster?
[02:26]<dyszpyz_>how faster does it compile c++
[02:30]<rrl>misafir_: As the DESCR file says "5 to 10 times".
[02:30]<dyszpyz_>yeah, i read that
[02:30]<dyszpyz_>but couldn't believe my eyes :-)
[02:32]<dyszpyz_>ok, i think i should try and see for myself
[02:34]<rrl>misafir_: Good Idea ;-)
[02:34]<rrl>Haven't used it myself yet.
[02:35]<dyszpyz_>i'm interested because c++ compiles so slowly
[02:35]<dyszpyz_>so at the moment i try to avoid c++ packages
[02:35]<rrl>Oh yes, pretty sucky
[03:23]<dyszpyz_>i see, ccache is only good for recompilation
[03:24]<dyszpyz_>so the first time you compile something, it has no effect
[03:26]<dyszpyz_>but it can still be useful, for example in "make update" dependencies
[04:07]<zzzy>hi *
[04:09]<rsayej>how big /var partition you guys recommend for a fileserver?
[04:35]<daz>ascizo, not sure what kind of file server. NFS? SMB?
[04:36]<daz>in general, I give 250MB for /var on a machine that doesn't do a lot of logging. If it does a lot of logging (say, it's a syslog server!), I might create a 1GB /var/log.
[04:36]<daz>if it does email, then split /var/log from /var/spool, so that you don't loose logging when the mailspool fills up.
[04:37]<daz>mind you... given today's disk sizes, you could add a 0, and not blow the bank. Even two 0s...
[04:37]<rsayej>it's both smb and afs server for home use :)
[04:37]<rsayej>hmm. i'll go with 1GB
[04:38]<rsayej>and 2GB /tmp
[05:35]<xrrvns>say on a Intel box how well is xorg working compared to XFree86?
[05:36]<rraffsax>about the same, no real visible difference
[05:36]<xrrvns>ok I figured XFree was there for the portability that NetBSD is all about
[05:37]<xrrvns>personally I'd rather use xorg, being more up to date, that is unless on NetBSD there where some differences in it effectiing performance
[05:37]<xrrvns>so that's why I asked, thanks
[05:42]<wvxww>hello hello
[05:42]<xrrvns>isn't xorg in ---> ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/pkgsrc/2006Q1/pkgsrc.tar.gz?
[05:42]<xrrvns>I thought that was the pkgsrc I got last time with xorg in it
[05:42]<xrrvns>hmm
[05:50]<xrrvns>ok I must of just typed the /path wrong hehe
[06:05]<cjmd`>Has anyone in here used the bebox port?
[06:07]<xrrvns>I have audit-packatges installed and I ran download-vulnerability-list to get the latest list, then when I ran 'audit-packages' I got command not found
[06:07]<xrrvns>what happened, to audit-packages that it won't run, or isn't found?
[06:07]<xrrvns>hmm I don't get this
[06:12]<xrrvns>ok didn't know I would have to run 'rehash' hmm
[06:32]<zzzgnjus>Xgates: don't use *csh then
[06:35]<xrrvns>well I just reisntalled NetBSD, so I'm just in console at the moment building xorg, but later I'll get the sh fixed up so I don't have to rehash all the tijme
[06:35]<xrrvns>time
[06:36]<zzzgnjus>just use ksh
[06:37]<vgzrvjrgg>or bash
[06:38]<zzzgnjus>Teratogen: /bin/ksh
[06:38]<vgzrvjrgg>Xgates, I reinstalled netbsd too: had a bad hard drive so I had to swap it out
[06:38]<xrrvns>Teratogen: yeah so you where saying yesterday, so you swaped out that drive and reinstalled it?
[06:39]<vgzrvjrgg>yep
[06:39]<xrrvns>;p
[06:39]<xrrvns>me I was installing Gimp and killed it the install cause of a alot of deps, so I wasn't sure if I got it all cleaned out ok, so I reisntalled to avoid that. I like a nice, clean box, no dep clutter or bloat
[06:40]<xrrvns><------ MonkBSD
[06:40]<xrrvns>LMAO
[06:42]<xrrvns>Teratogen: so you got Xchat this time?
[06:42]<xrrvns>hehe
[06:56]<wyvyrjggg>tcsh represent.
