[02:15]<dyszpyz_>how little talk is there on this channel
[02:16]<dyszpyz_>probably because NetBSD is a great system, problems just don't arise :-)

[02:39]<fysx->good bye
[03:19]<gfg>tc
[03:19]<gfg>er
[03:20]<gfg>if I'm implementing a port to a machine without an RTC (that'll get its time out of NTP), is there anything special I need to do?
[03:24]<slwnw>nqn: like what?
[03:25]<slwnw>well, you probably know better than me if you're porting it...
[03:34]<gfg>jakllsch: do you still have your sentry5 device?
[03:34]<rraffsax>yeah
[03:35]<rraffsax>a few actually
[03:35]<gfg>I emailed you about it; I've gotten my port up to the stage where it's probing devices
[03:37]<ggjgajmg>Hi, I have a NetBSD 3.0 CD that will not boot in a machene that can boot a ubuntu CD and can read from the NetBSD CD in it's installed OS(Win 98)... Any ideas why it's not booting?
[03:40]<zzzgnjus>neoncode: where did you get the netbsd CD?
[03:41]<ggjgajmg>someone in #kubuntu-offtopic gave me a link
[03:41]<asjpv>erm... mozilla thinks its already running.
[03:41]<zzzgnjus>well, it'r perhaps not bootable
[03:41]<ggjgajmg>http://mirror.inter.net.il/pub/NetBSD/iso/3.0/i386cd-3.0.iso <-- that's it
[03:42]<zzzgnjus>hm no, that one should be fine
[03:44]<rraffsax>nqn: great, althogh I'm not seeing any mail about it
[03:44]<ggjgajmg>The MD5 sum checks... and the disk is readable in win98 and linux on my main machene...
[03:44]<gfg>jakllsch: I haven't emailed port-mips
[03:45]<ggjgajmg>*machine
[03:45]<rraffsax>nqn: fine, how long ago was this mailed?
[03:46]<gfg>oh, I think we're miscommunicating; I emailed you right at the very start of my project to ask if you'd made any progress
[03:46]<gfg>about a month ago
[03:46]<rraffsax>oh, I see
[03:46]<gfg>and you wished me luck; I thought you might be interested in testing
[03:47]<rraffsax>sure, I'd love to
[03:48]<asjpv>Seeing how im running netbsd, You need to help me with my windows XP problem....
[05:59]<xrrvns>when I installed NetBSD I had to use my onboard LAN, but after I was able to disable it and the Generic kernel seemed to load and use my Linksys NIC. For the past few days the net connection worked, today I rebooted the system and the connectiion was lost, /etc/rc.d/dhclient restart didn't do anything and at bootup it said ---> tlp0 unalbe to wake from power state D3 reboot required
[06:00]<xrrvns>how can I figure out what interface I have for this thing to use, if tlp0 is correct or not, and if it wasn't has was then able to work
[06:00]<xrrvns>wasn't has/how....
[06:07]<xrrvns>does NetBSD have a like a curses network setup that will automatically configure the device similar to how it works in the installation?
[06:11]<xrrvns>ifconfig -l lists ---> lo0
[06:11]<xrrvns>is ifconfig -l correct to list all the devices that are available?
[06:12]<xrrvns>or I guess ifconfig -a
[06:15]<xrrvns>crap I don't believe this how the HELL does a connection just die
[06:15]<xrrvns>errrrrrr
[06:23]<xrrvns>anyone around?
[06:23]<xrrvns>how do you cat a list of avaiable devices?
[06:25]<slwnw>Xgates: ifconfig -l for the interfaces
[06:25]<xrrvns>now I want see all the devices on the pci bus
[06:26]<xrrvns>ok I found ---> pcictl
[06:26]<xrrvns>but looking over man I don't get how to list all the devices on my box
[06:26]<xrrvns>hmm
[06:26]<xrrvns>now/no I want ....
[06:26]<xrrvns>sheesh my typing,
[06:27]<xrrvns>how do you list all the pci devices on the box with 'pcictl'?
[06:27]<slwnw>prolly pcictl pci0 list
[06:27]<slwnw>maybe try with pci1, pci2, etc
[06:28]<slwnw>looks like you can have multiple PCI buses
[06:28]<xrrvns>yeah pci1 did it
[06:28]<xrrvns>one sec
[06:29]<slwnw>looks like I have devices on pci0 to 2
[06:31]<slwnw>afk
[06:31]<xrrvns>brb now the connection is working again
[06:31]<xrrvns>errr this thing
[06:32]<xrrvns>I think NetBSD is messing up with my devices
[06:33]<xrrvns>this is my nic it's listing ---> xgates@NetBSD ~# pcictl pci1 list
[06:33]<xrrvns>002:07:0: ADMtek AN985 10/100 Ethernet (ethernet network, revision 0x11)
[06:33]<xrrvns>but I'm using a Linksys, and I think that falls under as Sundance
[06:34]<xrrvns>ok here's the deal again, I had to use my Onborad LAN to get NetBSD installed over FTP, then once it was installed I turned off the onboard LAN and it still gave me the connection off the Linksys
[06:35]<xrrvns>but I don't really know that if I configure it with the onboard LAN, then disable it, and reboot, if the Kernel will actually detect the other NIC and set it up or its just going to try and connect with as how it was setup in the installation
[06:35]<xrrvns>rc.conf says ---> dhclient_flags="tlp0"
[06:36]<xrrvns>can tlp0 be used for just about any supported NIC?
[06:37]<rraffsax>what's ifconfig -a show?
[06:38]<xzgmzyx>aint tlp0 a tulip type card ? like some very old trl's and certain 3com cards
[06:38]<xrrvns>I just don't get this, whatever gets detected on the 3.0 install is all that is going to work correct? because my Linksys was not detected during the install of NetBSD, but the onboard LAN was
