[00:00]<wsduzp>I think it was there before, but I could be wrong
[00:00]<2rff>Was PPC601 support the only thing stopping NetBSD on a 6100?
[00:01]<2rff>brb
[00:01]<wsduzp>yeah I think OldWorld is PCI only
[00:02]<wsduzp>and before that is non OF
[00:04]<2rff>hello ada
[00:33]<2rff>Hello Cryo
[00:35]<wsduzp>I really can't figure out why my MX refuses to delivers the mail
[00:35]<wsduzp>maillog: http://rafb.net/paste/results/TfZOeM60.txt
[00:35]<wsduzp>capture from the transactions: http://rafb.net/paste/results/q71q5910.txt
[00:35]<wsduzp>hexdump fo this capture: http://rafb.net/paste/results/1THddj19.txt
[00:35]<2rff>Have you tried a different router?
[00:35]<wsduzp>the first few emails (3 iirc) go through
[00:36]<wsduzp>two of which went throught the second MX (mail4.zoneedit.com) and one was sent manually by telneting to mail3.zoneedit.com
[00:36]<wsduzp>the last few mails did not go through and we sent automatically (from gmail) and were routed through mail3.zoneedit.com
[00:37]<2rff>I don't know then.
[00:37]<wsduzp>fawwwwwwwk
[00:37]<2rff>hello h4
[00:37]<x9>hi
[00:47]<czdj>why do you feel the mail isn't being delivered?
[00:47]<-- dvxn|syzzzyus xzs>http://www.bagdadsoftware.de")
[00:48]<czdj>all of those succeeded and were delivered to your maildir
[00:48]<wsduzp>no
[00:48]<wsduzp>not the last one
[00:48]<wsduzp>192.168.000.010.00024-216.133.067.106.52590: 421 Fripouille.local Error: timeout exceeded
[00:50]<wsduzp>I which I had an idea as why mail isn't getting delivered
[00:50]<2rff>hello __nico_
[00:50]<czdj>your virtual configuration incorrect?
[00:51]<czdj>is the mail still in the queue?
[00:51]<wsduzp>Cryo, it works from both manually send email and from mail4.zoneedit.com (secondary MX)
[00:51]<wsduzp>only mail that doesn't get delivered is from the primary MX (mail3.zonnedit.com)
[00:51]<wsduzp>so my virtual conf is fine
[00:52]<czdj>try tracerouting to mail3 to see if theres's a network issue?
[00:52]<wsduzp>I did
[00:52]<wsduzp>none
[00:52]<czdj>ask the admin on there to see if there is any errors transmitting that causes a disconnect from their side?
[00:52]<wsduzp>if I telnet to mail3 and send email manually it works
[00:53]<wsduzp>just not when mail3 is delivering mail for an external host (say gmail)
[00:53]<wsduzp>I did, they were like "blah it works when you telnet to mail3, so there it no problem"
[00:53]<czdj>so the problem is... mail3 and not your end?
[00:53]<wsduzp>most definitely
[00:53]<czdj>change your MX? :)
[00:53]<wsduzp>I just sent them these logs and dumps, let's see what they think about it
[00:53]<wsduzp>I will if they don't fix this
[00:56]<czdj>interesting.
[00:56]<wsduzp>sup?
[00:56]<czdj>you're hosting mail on a dsl?
[00:56]<wsduzp>yes
[00:57]<czdj>dynamic?
[00:57]<wsduzp>yeah
[00:57]<wsduzp>got ifwatchd update my A Record when the ip changed
[00:57]<czdj>there are a lot of MXs that will reject you because of that.
[00:57]<wsduzp>the DNS host is the same as the MX host
[00:57]<czdj>like.. mine.
[00:57]<wsduzp>and they specifically allow that
[00:57]<wsduzp>and as I said, it works fine on the second MX (which is the same host)
[00:58]<wsduzp>they even allow delivering to non standard ports (which is what I use)
[00:58]<czdj>ah, ok. I didn't see anything obviously wrong, so I still point my finger at mail3.
[00:58]<wsduzp>so do I and another guy
[00:58]<wsduzp>I already mailed them once but they were like "manually sending email works so it's not on our end"
[00:58]<czdj>of course not
[00:59]<wsduzp>I just sent them a more detailed report with the logs and dumps
[00:59]<wsduzp>hopefully they'll investigate a little further
[01:00]<czdj>good luck with that
[01:00]<wsduzp>as my friend's saying... it's either that or mail3 and mail4 aren't running the same version of Postfix and postfx as a deep implementation issue that only affects connections from these two version
[01:00]<wsduzp>btw regarding dynamic IPs, that's the whole point of using them as an MX, so that I don't get blacklisted and all (and also bypassing my isp that blocks port 25)
[01:05]<ggjgajmg>Do I have to use a floppy to install netBSD?
[01:05]<czdj>no
[01:05]<dzezycssjg>No
[01:05]<dzezycssjg>:)
[01:05]<dzezycssjg>cdrom, or netboot works just great :)
[01:06]<czdj>boot from a USB key
[01:06]<2rff>hello neoncode
[01:06]<ggjgajmg>The CD-rom I got isn't bootable, and when I read it on the computer's default OS(windows 98) it said something about floppy disks....
[01:06]<2rff>tape's been used too.
[01:07]<ggjgajmg>ball: hi...
[01:07]<2rff>Does your target platform (PC?) have a floppy drive?
[01:07]<ggjgajmg>Yes, but it doesn't work
[01:07]<ggjgajmg>And shouldn't this CD-rom be bootable...
[01:08]<2rff>neoncode: whether your machine can boot from CD-ROM depends (amongst other things) on its firmware.
[01:08]<2rff>(and perhaps, if it's a PC, on it's CMOS settings).
[01:09]<ggjgajmg>Yes it's a PC. It can boot a ubuntu install CD.
[01:10]<ggjgajmg>Any ideas?
[01:10]<2rff>If it can boot ubuntu from CD, it should be able to boot NetBSD. Which version did you burn?
[01:11]<ggjgajmg>ftp://iso2.uk.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/iso/3.0/i386cd-3.0.iso <-- that's the CD I got. The MD5 sum checked out and I verifyed the Disk when I burnt it.
[01:13]<2rff>Have you tried a 2.1 CD?
[01:13]<ggjgajmg>ball: No
[01:14]<2rff>neoncode: Might be worth a shot.
[01:15]<ggjgajmg>Does 2.1 get security updates still?
[01:15]<dzezycssjg>neoncode: You could boot the 2.1 CD and install 3.0 binaries via FTP
[01:16]<ggjgajmg>I'll need talking though it...
[01:16]<wsduzp>argggg WTF this is really really bad
[01:16]<2rff>neoncode: Yes, but I mostly meant to see whether it was 3.0-specific.
[01:16]<wsduzp>all the ports on my server keep going slealth after a while
[01:16]<wsduzp>(maybe 20h)
[01:16]<wsduzp>/etc/rc.d/network restart won't do, I have to reboot
[01:17]<2rff>If 2.1 worked, you could try another 3.0 CD to rule out the coaster effect.
[01:17]<wsduzp>what could cause this??????
[01:17]<ggjgajmg>ball: Ok. downloading the 2.1 i386 disk now, from the same sever. and That was the 2nd 3.0 CD I tried. I even downloaded the ISO a 2nd time.
[01:17]<wsduzp>this is really really really bad
