[00:00]<tnllyax>Atheus: the docs worked for me, installing netbsd/sparc64 from linux
[00:01]<rysdjw7>hi
[00:02]<rysdjw7>i need help with the installation of xpdf under netbsd 3.0.1.... when i am doing with pkg_add, it says while he wants to find openmotif, that he cannot find it..
[00:02]<rysdjw7>does anybody have an advice?
[00:03]<dzezycssjg>Did you download the xpdf package and did pkg_add on it?
[00:03]<dzezycssjg>Or did you set PKG_PATH ?
[00:03]<rysdjw7>i set pkg_path
[00:03]<dzezycssjg>Sounds like a broken package to me
[00:03]<dzezycssjg>But I'm only guessing
[00:05]<rysdjw7>so, what can i do now.. or are there any other pdf readers in the package collection?
[00:11]<dzezycssjg>Well, you could try to download the dependencies by hand and install them to see if that works better
[00:11]<dzezycssjg>Or perhaps try Acrobat Reader, if you are on an i386 platform
[00:11]<rysdjw7>with the linux binary compatibility?
[00:11]<dzezycssjg>yes
[00:18]<rysdjw7>mrEriksson, do you think, it could work with the ports..
[00:18]<rysdjw7>i mean with pkgsrc
[00:22]<rysdjw7>the installation of xpdf
[00:23]<myfns_pzjwnz>Hello.
[00:23]<myfns_pzjwnz>Upon booting netbsd cd, it goes through boot, but hangs just after detecting CD0.
[00:23]<myfns_pzjwnz>any known issues with that?
[00:29]<ljugzzm>re
[00:29]<ljugzzm>yop
[00:29]<avxnus>mrEriksson: sorry to bug you, but the system hangs fetching the miniroot over tftp. It counts bytes as it goes and gets up to 17e00 before it fails, I suspect thisis the biggest image you can use
[00:31]<dzezycssjg>Atheus: I don't really recall how I did the netbooting when installing my sparc64, but I'm pretty sure that there are detailed instructions about this in the INSTALL file
[00:31]<dzezycssjg>Atheus: It could very well be that it is not the miniroot you should use for netbooting :-)
[00:32]<dzezycssjg>gismo16: Could work,, Why don't you give it a try? :)
[00:32]<rysdjw7>i'm doing it, now ;)
[00:32]<dzezycssjg>gismo :)
[00:38]<avxnus>mrEriksson: Probably :) I already have the 'boot.net' image that is supposed to be fetched via tftp, but the only thing it does it search for root over NFS
[00:38]<avxnus>maybe if I make dev seperately mountable?
[00:39]<yreey>m0o0
[00:39]<yreey>sup sup homies
[00:39]<dzezycssjg>Atheus: Yes, do that :)
[00:47]<ldry>hello,would anybody be interested in helping to make this library work on *BSD platform? (http://libburn.pykix.org)
[00:57]<2rff>hello pygmi
[00:57]<2rff>oops, I was too slow.
[01:04]<rysdjw7>mrEriksson, finally it works now, with ports :)
[01:13]<zzzgnjus>ports?
[01:15]<rysdjw7>yes, the installation of xpdf from ports..
[01:15]<rysdjw7>it doesn't work with pkg_add (binary version of xpdf, it's maybe a broken package)
[01:17]<zzzgnjus>gismo16: this is #netbsd
[01:17]<zzzgnjus>do you mean pkgsrc?
[01:18]<rysdjw7>yes
[01:18]<rysdjw7>aah... is there a seperate channel for pkgsrc?
[01:19]<zzzgnjus>no idea - just don't call it "ports"
[01:19]<rysdjw7>oo.. sry
[01:21]<2rff>When people say "ports", I picture the back of a minicomputer
[01:21]<2rff>...all DB9s
[01:21]<2rff>erm, DB-25s
[01:22]<2rff>s/minicomputer/multi-user microcomputer/
[01:33]<2rff>hello gm152
[01:33]<2rff>hello helgoman
[01:38]<2rff>hello s-mackie
[01:39]<2rff>s-mackie: did you go to school in Wootton Bassett?
[01:39]<xgfrjdrg>hello ball
[01:39]<s-dracyn>ball: nope.
[01:40]<2rff>s-mackie: just checking.
[01:41]<2rff>I was at school with someone of that name.
[01:41]<s-dracyn>I see.
[01:42]<s-dracyn>I'm in Glasgow, UK.
[01:42]<2rff>Give my regards to Refrew then ;-)
[01:42]<s-dracyn>Heh.
[01:43]<2rff>I'm in Illinois, USA.
[01:43]<yreey>hm
[01:43]<yreey>"proc".reverse
[01:43]<yreey>gives corp
[01:43]<yreey>eww
[01:44]<2rff>I used to know a chap whose surname was "Corps"
[01:44]<2rff>(pron. .core)
[01:45]<2rff>(with the dot and everything)
[01:46]<2rff>YazzY: is "corporate" a dirty word? ;-)
[02:07]<avxnus>how can I get /dev to mount over NFS early enough in the boot process so init does not create an mfs version? I have critical_filesystems_remote="/dev" in rc.conf, fstab is correct, exports is correct on the server...
[02:09]<myfns_pzjwnz>Hello.
[02:09]<myfns_pzjwnz>Upon booting netbsd cd, it goes through boot, but hangs just after detecting CD0.
[02:09]<myfns_pzjwnz>any known issues with that?
[02:12]<zzzgnjus>Miles_Prower: which version of netbsd
[02:12]<myfns_pzjwnz>3.0.1
[02:12]<zzzgnjus>what kind of hardware is it
[02:13]<myfns_pzjwnz>FIC, VIa chipset, AMD AthlonXP 3200+
[02:17]<rmxja>hi guys =)
[02:18]<rmxja>I'm installing 3.0.1 on my uvax and getting a "file system full" error when i try to run newfs or mount a file system formated by the installer
[02:19]<rmxja>any ideas?
[02:21]<zzzgnjus>how big is the fs?
[02:23]<rmxja>carneous: its a 200MB disk
[02:23]<rmxja>64M swap and the rest for /
[02:23]<zzzgnjus>try installing less sets
[02:23]<rmxja>with minimal install selected
[02:23]<zzzgnjus>just base etc and kernel?
[02:23]<rmxja>yup
[02:24]<rmxja>but it fails on "signal" while running newfs in the installer
[02:24]<rmxja>i can;t get it to actually format the file system on the root disk
[02:25]<rmxja>i have tried a couple of different disk in case its a bad sectors problem...
[02:25]<rmxja>got it to mount swap on a second disk before running the sysinst in case its running outa memery
[02:28]<rmxja>any ideas?
[02:28]<2rff>Out of interest, what kind of microvax is it?
[02:28]<2rff>hello laclasse
[02:28]<rmxja>i found a similar issue in a post in 1999 ... but nothing else =/
[02:28]<rmxja>ball: uvax-3100-20e, IIRR
[02:29]<rmxja>or 10e
