[17:01]<rsrqjq>okay there is samba-3.0.22-1 rpm and a samba-3.023-1.pre1 rpm
[17:01]<knynnz>csabo2: Which route are you going to take to upgrade? Does RH9 support yum?
[17:01]<rsrqjq>It does not
[17:02]<rsrqjq>i found rpms on samba's site
[17:02]<knynnz>Ah
[17:02]<knynnz>That's nice lol
[17:02]<rsrqjq>yeah lol
[17:02]<knynnz>I would use the stable of course
[17:02]<rsrqjq>okay
[17:02]<rsrqjq>it's downloading
[17:02]<knynnz>did you configure your krb5 file?
[17:02]<rsrqjq>i have no idea what that is :-\
[17:03]<rsrqjq>i changed the smb.conf and thats it
[17:03]<knynnz>Ok, part of your problem will be Kerberos then lol
[17:03]<rsrqjq>ahh
[17:04]<rsrqjq>krb5.conf i would assume?
[17:04]<knynnz>Yes
[17:09]<rsrqjq>okay i edited it, samba isnt even showing me shares anymore
[17:09]<rsrqjq>i'm gonna reboot
[17:09]<rsrqjq>brb
[17:10]<knynnz>He rebooting linux?
[17:10]<knynnz>Did he change the Kernel lol
[17:17]<rsrqjq>Keizer: okay i set it up, however we do not have a kerbose server here
[17:17]<rsrqjq>and it still does not work :(
[17:18]<knynnz>Kerberos is the Password encryption that AD uses
[17:18]<knynnz>You're trying to use a MS Windows 2003 Active Directory server as your Domain Controller, correct?
[17:19]<rsrqjq>not trying, i am
[17:19]<rsrqjq>its allready setup
[17:19]<knynnz>w00t
[17:19]<rsrqjq>and the netadmin told me we dont use kerberos
[17:19]<knynnz>Then I have no idea what you are using lol
[17:20]<knynnz>Check your samba logs for errors
[17:20]<knynnz>Make sure: security = ADS
[17:21]<knynnz>AND: password server = DOMAINCONTROLLER.DOMAIN.COM
[17:21]<rsrqjq>we use LDAP
[17:21]<knynnz>Yes, Active Directory is an implementation of x500
[17:23]<knynnz>realm = DOMAIN.COM
[17:23]<rsrqjq>which config file do thoes two settings go into?
[17:23]<knynnz>smb.conf
[17:23]<rsrqjq>okay
[17:25]<rsrqjq>okay im not seeting a realm or security setting or value in the smb.conf, where do i add them?
[17:26]<rsrqjq>seeting = seeing
[17:28]<knynnz>Add realm under workgroup
[17:29]<knynnz>Make sure security = ADS
[17:29]<rsrqjq>where do i put that?
[17:29]<knynnz> password server = PASSWORDSERVER.DOMAIN.COM
[17:29]<knynnz> idmap uid = 10000-20000
[17:29]<knynnz> idmap gid = 10000-20000
[17:30]<rsrqjq>I have password server allready set
[17:30]<rsrqjq>what isnt in my config is a security = settings
[17:30]<rsrqjq>setting*
[17:30]<knynnz>Add those three lines under the security = ADS
[17:30]<knynnz>security = settings?
[17:31]<knynnz>>_<
[17:31]<rsrqjq>I do NOT have a security OPTION in my config dude
[17:31]<rsrqjq>the word security shows up THREE Times, none of which are settings
[17:31]<rsrqjq>they are descriptions for various settings
[17:31]<rsrqjq>therefore i need to know where i should put security = ADS
[17:31]<rsrqjq>as its not in my config file at all
[17:32]<rsrqjq>so just tell me what section "security =" is at in your config
[17:32]<knynnz>csabo2: It doesn't matter where
[17:32]<knynnz>csabo2: anywhere in the top
[17:32]<rsrqjq>okay
[17:33]<rsrqjq>"security = ADS" is in my config
[17:33]<knynnz>Rawk out
[17:33]<rsrqjq>with my cawk out?
[17:33]<knynnz>lol
[17:34]<rsrqjq>hehe
[17:34]<rsrqjq>okay so my config is edited
[17:34]<rsrqjq>andi cant see any shares
[17:34]<rsrqjq>so i have to reboot again appraently
[17:34]<knynnz>Nah
[17:34]<rsrqjq>its crazy i reboot linux more than i do windows
[17:35]<knynnz>service smbd restart
[17:35]<knynnz>omg
[17:35]<rsrqjq>unrecognized service
[17:35]<knynnz>Only reboot Linux if you change the Kernel
[17:35]<knynnz>Hold on
[17:35]<rsrqjq>cant fix shit so ihave to reboot
[17:35]<rsrqjq>lol
[17:35]<rsrqjq>if somthing breaks i dont know how to fix i just reboot
[17:35]<rsrqjq>okay it was smb as the servic
[17:35]<rsrqjq>its restarted
[17:35]<knynnz>ok
[17:36]<rsrqjq>its not seeing the domain or shares
[17:36]<rsrqjq>lol i'm gonna have to reboot
[17:36]<rsrqjq>rebewt!
[17:36]<rsrqjq>brb
[17:36]<knynnz>lol
[17:36]<knynnz>dude
[17:36]<knynnz>That's insane lol
[18:19]<mrrpr>i want samba to allow guest account, but i want it to use a different user for each share. how can i achieve that?
[18:20]<mrrpr>i tried using guest account = user1 in a share, but doesn't work. guest account = user only seems to work in the global section of smb.conf
[18:21]<rsrqjq>okay samba is updated Keizer
[18:25]<mrrpr>ok problem solved, nvm
[18:27]<jzpnjus>:)
[18:27]<knynnz>Orfeous: Howdy
