[18:00]<dyaxnf>following problem: if i mount my win shares with cifs it needs about 5 minutes to be mounted but is pretty fast on file transfer. if i mount my winshare with smb its mounted in 10sec. but is 2 times slower then cifs. can any1 help pls?

[22:35]<bdprss>Im trying to figure out if there is a way to restrict the view of all shares avail once i'm auth the the samba box. ideally id like to see only the share have axs and not the whole list of shares. browsable = no aint really an option as i cant auto-mount as multiple computers are being used to axs the files. is there any way to do that É

[22:47]<vxzgsvnz>Bypass: you could try shares based on variable names derived from the client name, then the client would be presented with a special view

[23:00]<fygjfyud>+I mount a windows dir onto a linux box, and then restart the windows box. the directory on the linux box will now have some sort of input/output error until I unmount/remount the share. is there anyway I can get samba to d othis automatically?
[23:01]<vxzgsvnz>-linolium I'm not sure, but maybe look at automount, this isnt much different to losing a remote nfs server not a direct samba problem....
