[18:03]<wg2_cgjws>hi :)
[18:07]<f0a9fx0sv>http://pastebin.com/718491
[18:07]<f0a9fx0sv>I can access that share, I can browse through that share
[18:07]<f0a9fx0sv>But I can't edit files, I can't rename files, I can't delete / make / rename directories...
[18:08]<f0a9fx0sv>How can I solve this?
[18:08]<f0a9fx0sv>I followed this guide: http://www.brennan.id.au/18-Samba.html#shareddirs (CTRL+F "WEB-Server")
[19:28]<urggcr>hi all
[19:28]<urggcr>can i start an external script from samba, when i recieved file?
[19:32]<vjzvrgyac>quick question, how do you share CD drives?
[19:42]<2vsds>Hi all
[19:42]<2vsds>I have a small problem with nmbd and smbd.
[19:43]<2vsds>early this am PST... nmbd locked up my server and sent the load avg to 2044.22
[19:43]<2vsds>here is some of the output
[19:43]<2vsds>nmbd[2718]: [2006/06/18 04:02:10, 0] nmbd/nmbd.c:process(542)
[19:44]<2vsds>nmbd[2718]: Got SIGHUP dumping debug info.
[19:44]<2vsds>nmbd[2718]: [2006/06/18 04:02:10, 0] nmbd/nmbd_workgroupdb.c:dump_workgroups(284)
[19:44]<2vsds>mbd[13665]: request_oplock_break: no response received to oplock break
[19:44]<2vsds>that's an s on the lastline at the begining
[19:45]<2vsds>I'm not seeing anything that would warn me of the issue before this error in my messages file...
[19:45]<2vsds>any idea's?
[19:45]<2vsds>need the full output?
[19:45]<2vsds>anyone?
[19:47]<2vsds>all of this is on Fedora Core 4 X86_64 samba RPM's 3.0.14a-2 on a 2.6.14-1.1636 kernel
[20:08]<rfyggg>Hi. I have strange problem with my printers under samba 3.0.22 (debian testing)
[20:09]<rfyggg>I try to get point'n'print working with my win2k clients. I did this several times before without problems (but with samba 3.0.14 and cups 1.1.21).
[20:10]<rfyggg>Now I have samba 3.0.22 and cups 1.2.1. The problem is that I can add printer drivers using cupsaddsmb without problems. And I can connect to the printer from the win2k clients.
[20:11]<sfrcjr>greetings, i wish to move a legacy application whose data store currently resides on a Netware 4.01 server to Samba (data store based on BTree filer) - according to the manual: the only basic requirement is that the network correctly implement DOS file sharing when a file is opened (DOS INT 21 function 3D) and DOS file locking (DOS 21 function 5C) ... would Samba accomodate?
[20:11]<rfyggg>But I cannot modify the settings of the printer. I always get the error message that there is no printer driver installed, asking if I want to install a new printer driver.
[20:14]<rfyggg>I tried several printer drivers (cups 5, and cups 6). I know that at least cups 5 was working fine with samba 3.0.14 and cups 1.1.21
[20:14]<rfyggg>Now I'm out of ideas what could be the cause of my problem.
[20:15]<rfyggg>Has nobody an idea?
[20:19]<gjvrvr_fgfgjgr>hi...
[21:49]<vxzgsvnz>Has anyone got notes on AD membership with idmap_backend using the 2003R2 unix interopability stuff (apparently now dooable with the 3.23rc1+2
[21:54]<-- dvxn|syzzzyus xzs>http://www.bagdadsoftware.de")
[22:23]<zrmgg>how does a person restart samba from consoel ?
[22:24]<f0a9fx0sv>/etc/init.d/samba restart
[22:25]<zrmgg>must be running as a super service
[22:26]<zrmgg>anyone know why i would have 2 shares for same linux config i have Linux_rocks(jon) Linux_rocks(samba)
[22:29]<vxzgsvnz>raden: it depends on what distribution you are running
[22:31]<vxzgsvnz>raden: but the command is probably (as root) /etc/init.d/samba restart or /etc/init.d/smb restart
[22:31]<vxzgsvnz>raden: I'm not clear what you are asking in your second question
[22:35]<bdprss>Im trying to figure out if there is a way to restrict the view of all shares avail once i'm auth the the samba box. ideally id like to see only the share have axs and not the whole list of shares. browsable = no aint really an option as i cant auto-mount as multiple computers are being used to axs the files. is there any way to do that É
[22:36]<bdprss>like user test see share x y z while user test2 only sees share w
[22:41]<zrmgg>thanster, SUSE 10.0
[22:41]<zrmgg>thanster, treid both
[22:42]<zrmgg>thanster, it was smbd on mine
[22:46]<zrmgg>thanster, would you have any idea why i would have 2 shares in workgroup pointing at same thing ?
[22:47]<vxzgsvnz>Bypass: you could try shares based on variable names derived from the client name, then the client would be presented with a special view
[22:47]<vxzgsvnz>raden: you have 2 shares pointing at the same files?
[23:00]<fygjfyud>+I mount a windows dir onto a linux box, and then restart the windows box. the directory on the linux box will now have some sort of input/output error until I unmount/remount the share. is there anyway I can get samba to d othis automatically?
[23:01]<vxzgsvnz>-linolium I'm not sure, but maybe look at automount, this isnt much different to losing a remote nfs server not a direct samba problem....
[23:11]<redj`>-hello
[23:11]<redj`>-im trying to use SWAT directly from my browser but i can't but i can use SWAT from my webmin application ... any idea?
[23:53]<fygjfyud>+how can I mount a samba share read-write? even if I use rw it says Permission denied if I try to write on it
