[23:24]<gjzvjg>yar
[23:24]<gjzvjg>So, I am attempting to get samba to share files for users authenticated via active directory
[23:25]<gjzvjg>i already have winbind settup and working with pam and the rest of the system
[23:25]<gjzvjg>i just cant seem to authenticate people trying to access smb shares
[23:27]<gjzvjg>ideas?
[23:34]<derrjjge>I have been working on it for a week or so and no luck yet.. trying something knew though
[23:36]<derrjjge>guess can go though the normal questions norton
[23:36]<derrjjge>wait .. never mind read te Q backwards... have you looked at ACLs?
[23:38]<gjzvjg>nope
[23:41]<derrjjge>i beleive that is the way you need to do it. I have not done it personally though
[23:41]<derrjjge>is your linux server is part of the AD domain i beleive that you can use the ACLs to get auth to work on samba shares
[23:48]<cusvjd6>I configured a samba 3.0.22 PDC and it worked just fine. However, we moved the samba pdc to another subnet and now the domain controller won't show up when we browse for it.
[23:49]<cusvjd6>we have 2 WINS servers here
[23:49]<cusvjd6>one on both subnets
[23:49]<cusvjd6>I configured samba to register with the wins servers
[23:50]<cusvjd6>a curious fact is that, when the SambaPDC did work, the WINs server was running on NT4 server
[23:50]<cusvjd6>but on the new subnet, the WINs server is running on Samba
[23:50]<cusvjd6>could that have anything to do with it?
[23:52]<||aw>Custom7: usualy you want the PDC to be the wins server
[23:53]<||aw>look for wins files in /var/lib/samba and /var/cache/samba, you should be able to delete them and have samba rebuild it for the new subnet
[23:55]<cusvjd6>ok, I'll try that. thanks
