[00:43]<lzvzyac_cyrr>hello, how would i set up samba to be a domain controller. or do i have to use something else
[00:44]<lzvzyac_cyrr>so other machiens look for the server for profiles and ect
[00:47]<||aw>patrick_king: check the samba.org howto's
[00:47]<||aw>it's not only possible, it's better than NT4 as a pdc
[00:47]<lzvzyac_cyrr>ok cheers i will have a look
[01:26]<nulxj2jv>I have used cupsaddsmb, but when I try to download printer drivers (after net use ... /user:root), I connect only to to be told from properties that it still needs drivers???
[01:53]<nulxj2jv>hello
[02:14]<ygpygzgj>Hola
[02:14]<ygpygzgj>alguien a configurado alguna impresora en windows compartida con la version de samba 3.0.22.x
[02:14]<ygpygzgj>¿?
[02:28]<2ryg>Hi guys, I'm having a very strange problem ... i've setup a PDC/LDAP server .. everything works fine .. I can create users .. log into domain etc etc .. however ... anything related to "grant" just does not work .. no error .. nothing ..
[02:29]<2ryg>If I try net groupmap modify ntgroup="Domain Users" unixgroup=users I get : ldapsam_update_group_mapping_entry: No group to modify!
[02:29]<2ryg>but net rpc group list gives me Domain Users as a group ..
[02:31]<ruyrjue>bain: group "users" is on ldap ?
[02:33]<2ryg>yeah .. it shows in getent
[02:33]<ruyrjue>getent isn't only ldap...
[02:33]<ruyrjue>users is probably in /etc/group
[02:34]<2ryg>then no .. it's not ..
[02:34]<ruyrjue>it must be...
[02:34]<ruyrjue>if you wish to use group mappings, i guess.
[02:34]<2ryg>ok .. how do I add it ?
[02:35]<ruyrjue>I don't know if you can replicate it on ldap
[02:35]<ruyrjue>just add a "posixGroup" entry
[02:35]<ruyrjue>on your ldap directory.
[02:35]<ruyrjue>use the same gid the users group has
[02:36]<2ryg>how do I do that ?
[02:36]<ruyrjue>you must have some ldap administrator there.
[02:37]<2ryg>ok .. I'll figure out how to do it ..
[02:37]<ruyrjue>or using the command line tools
[02:38]<ruyrjue>create an ldif file and use ldapadd
[02:39]<2ryg>silly that it's not created during the install ..
[02:40]<szzvzg>I'm wondering what the best channel for this question is - but basicaly how can I use active directory groupnames with spaces in them in /etc/security/access.conf? (using AD+Kerberos+Winbind to auth) -> @groupname doesn't quite translate to '@group name'
[02:42]<2ryg>guigouz: sorry .. were you refering to the Users entry in ldap ?
[02:42]<ruyrjue>Group
[02:42]<ruyrjue>ou=Groups, probably
[02:42]<2ryg>yeah .. I do have it .. sorry ..
[03:02]<2ryg>*Sigh*
[03:28]<nulxj2jv>hello
[03:29]<nulxj2jv>I am having really bad luck install print drviers on xp
[03:29]<nulxj2jv>cups works.
[03:29]<nulxj2jv>cupsaddsmb seems good
[03:30]<nulxj2jv>but connecting from xp doesnt
[03:31]<nulxj2jv>or rather clicking properties after still asks for drivers.
[03:32]<nulxj2jv>is chapter 21 missing something?
[03:42]<nulxj2jv>it seems that windows doesn't know it has the files in spool\drivers\w32x86\3
[04:34]<wcryrxv>hi
[04:34]<wcryrxv>I'm downloading files from a windows box to a linux box. I'm using either smbclient or smbmount and the transfers are painfully slow
[04:34]<wcryrxv>what should I be looking for?
[04:36]<nulxj2jv>a new compurter
[04:36]<wcryrxv>hah. clever
[04:36]<gmmugmj_v>the samba howto has a chapter about performance tunning
[04:37]<gmmugmj_v>but I dont know if it will helps
[04:37]<wcryrxv>hmm
[04:37]<wcryrxv>okay
[04:38]<wcryrxv>one question. do changes to smb.conf have any impact on pulling files using smbclient, or does the config file only affect shares on the local computer?
[04:38]<wcryrxv>I guess my question is, does smbclient and smbmount even look for/at smb.conf
[04:39]<nulxj2jv>did you try mount -t cifs
[04:39]<wcryrxv>no one seems to have a definate answer to that
[04:40]<wcryrxv>no
[04:41]<nulxj2jv>since you are connecting to another *nix box, how about mount -t nfs?
[04:42]<wcryrxv>when did I say I'm connection to another nix box? I'm on a linux box, connecting to a windows machine
[04:43]<wcryrxv>or were you talking to me?
[04:43]<gmmugmj_v>wknight, you can strace smbclient to discover :)
[04:45]<gmmugmj_v>hmm, yes it reads smb.conf but I dont know what it uses
[04:45]<nulxj2jv>wknight: then try mount -t cifs to a win box
[05:40]<wrdgnd>I keep getting this error and don't know what to do
[05:40]<wrdgnd>[2006/07/19 10:47:53, 0] smbd/negprot.c:reply_nt1(316)
[05:40]<wrdgnd> reply_nt1: smb signing is incompatible with share level security !
[05:58]<fg2_>change share level to user level
[05:59]<wrdgnd>in smb.conf ?
[06:02]<fucn[wc]>hey guys
[06:02]<fucn[wc]>can i have some help for a sec plz
[06:02]<fucn[wc]>making a netlogon script for my domain users and how can i make it so that only the @students group runs the logon script
[06:18]<fucn[wc]>thx guys great help
[06:18]<fucn[wc]>same as usual for this channel
[06:18]<fucn[wc]>just a bunch of idlers
[06:30]<mnnajn>worth every penny, luke[wk]
[06:50]<szzvzg>;art
[07:08]<nls>mmm I'm using samba and I thought i had it correctly setup for read/write from windows (in this case a mac) computers and they can see the shares but they can't access them
[07:08]<nls>I've tried using guest and nothing and my account when authenticating
[07:09]<nls> security = user
[07:09]<nls> obey pam restrictions = yes
[07:09]<nls> guest account = nobody
[07:09]<nls> invalid users = root
[07:09]<nls>[dump]
[07:09]<nls>path = /home/eps/dump
[07:09]<nls>comment = local on eps
[07:09]<nls>available = yes
[07:09]<nls>browseable = yes
[07:09]<nls>public = yes
[07:09]<nls>writable = yes
[07:09]<nls>guest ok = yes
[07:10]<nls>suggestions? (what I want is for people to be able to browse, and write to that dir without needing a pw or anything)
[07:27]<zyxvez>eps: you still around?
[07:27]<nls>RiXtEr yeah...but as I thought it was a stupid mistake on my part... smbpasswd -a eps fixed it :)
[07:28]<zyxvez>was going to ask about users :)
[07:29]<nls>mmm though while you're about, assuming you are knowledgeable :P, I want to be able to search through a ip range (say 192.168.0.x) looking for a shared folder "Documents" and then mount that to a dir per computer (eg /mnt/computername/documents)
