[10:36]<z0fw>Hi! When i try to mount (or access) a win98 share i get this: session request to 10.0.1.10 failed (Called name not present) \ session request to 10 failed (Called name not present) \session request to *SMBSERVER failed (Called name not present). How can i solve this?
[12:10]<laaga>hey guys
[12:10]<laaga>I'm trying to setup a samba PDC with LDAP backend...
[12:10]<laaga>everything seems to be working, but when I create a user, the user SID is different from the group SID
[12:10]<laaga>and its complaining...
[12:14]<jyrjxd>Just been looking at samba and have been wondering. Could Samba server be used as a bridge between two non trusting domians.
[12:17]<jyrjxd>Ok have I asking this kind of question in the wrong place or just too complex.
[13:30]<2rffw>hi
[13:30]<2rffw>is there any way to see the linux shared files from windows machine?
[14:01]<cnfnsvzz>but I think the problem is that bond0 is started first and eth[0123] late
[14:02]<cnfnsvzz>er wrong channel
[17:29]<nlydnvx>hi all... dunno if this is the right place, but I figure what the hell....
[17:30]<nlydnvx>I copied a user's NTUSER.DAT file to my computer and edited it by a "Load user hive" in regedit
[17:30]<nlydnvx>then I unloaded it and put it back on the server in his profiles folder
[17:31]<nlydnvx>when he logged back into windows, all the settings he had were gone and the ones I added did not appear...
[17:31]<nlydnvx>wtf?]
[17:31]<nlydnvx>anybody done this before that can help me?
[17:33]<pj0cd>erm, not a clue
[18:25]<emwyg_quyrrmr>Hi! I installed samba as PDC for WIndows
[18:26]<emwyg_quyrrmr>I can connect to domain but I cant see my directory logon
[18:26]<emwyg_quyrrmr>in linux machine. I mean I cant see my personal directory H:
[18:50]<zyxvez>how do i fix this!!!! Error: SID not set for unix group 515
[18:50]<zyxvez>arg!
[19:19]<nnnnnn>I am getting many of these messages, both on my samba server, but mostly the samba client: smb_iod_recvall: drop resp:
[19:20]<nnnnnn>access to the samba server has slowed to a halt
[19:20]<nnnnnn>I have replaced the network cables between the server and the switch, and the cables between the client and the switch
[19:20]<nnnnnn>I have also switched out switches... haha.... but yeah
[19:21]<nnnnnn>so, I'm sure it's not a layer-1/2 issue.... plus, other network resources are just fine over the same infrastructure (the one switch)
[19:21]<|d0u|>Hi everybody! Who know how to add pirmission for some domain group to share? (valid users = "SOMEDOMAIN\some_cool_group" doesn't work in 3.0.23a ? in 3.0.21works correct )
[19:34]<|d0u|>i forgot @, thanks
[19:34]<|d0u|>exit
[20:08]<zyxvez>hey guys... when i use smbldap-useradd -w -t0 sometest$ it doesn't add the samba attributes to the ldap entry...
[20:15]<vzdd|wjzc>Im experiencing something very strange.. Winbind is working perfectly for a few users.. but others do not work at all. The user setup should be identical. The winbind log just says that the user is unknown. wbinfo shows the users that does not work
[20:19]<erd2r2jj>hi guys, having a permission problem, (i think), here's my cnf http://pasteme.com/p.php?id=191
[20:19]<erd2r2jj>logging in as the user, the directory im trying to get into exists, but i cannot view it. logs say 'permission denied'
[20:20]<erd2r2jj>the dir belongs to the user (776)
[20:27]<zyxvez>zambaboo, how about acces to the dirs leading up to that one
[20:27]<erd2r2jj>RiXtEr, root owns those
[20:27]<zyxvez>you need 755 ( i think) on the ones leading up to it... /mnt/scsi/
[20:28]<erd2r2jj>i see
[20:28]<zyxvez>pub
[20:29]<erd2r2jj>oh, excellent. it worked!
[20:29]<erd2r2jj>thank you much :)
[20:30]<nnznm>Hi everybody
[20:33]<nnznm>I'm using smb4k on a kubuntu box. When I mount a distant directory I see few time icon of mount disk and it disappear. I have no mount drive. Where can I found error message ?
[20:34]<erd2r2jj>hm, i still cannot write here though: drwxrwxr-x 2 root users 4096 Aug 3 09:34 public
[20:43]<erd2r2jj>erm, one more thing, how can i run smbd/nmbd as the samba user?
[20:48]<rvjy>Hello. We're having a rather odd problem. We have a samba server that ran fine for a long time with a [homes] directory. However, the samba server has been upgraded (it resides on an FC4 server now) and the same configuration works... but.. when we mount with mount.cifs we can write to our home directories... list things in them.. but when we try to READ them it gives permission denied.
[20:48]<rvjy>I see a NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED error in the log when I turn up the debug level...
[20:49]<pzrgc->ls -al on a folder affected, please
[20:50]<rvjy>lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Aug 3 07:22 public -> ../public
[20:50]<rvjy>-rwxrw-r-- 1 dan dan 17 Aug 3 10:53 thing1.txt
[20:50]<rvjy>dan is the username I log in as. thing1.txt is the thing I want to read as a test.
[20:51]<rvjy>now...
[20:51]<rvjy>when we use mount.smb ... it works.
[20:51]<pzrgc->well the o+x is not necessary
[20:52]<rvjy>true, but it shouldn't break reads.
[20:52]<pzrgc->not really
[20:52]<pzrgc->let me think
[20:53]<rvjy>we've been cudgeling our brains for some time now :P
[20:54]<rvjy>when mounted with mount.cifs I can echo "x" > txt and then rm txt... no problems.
[20:54]<muvaxn->does anybody knows how to make a directory invisible in samba?? I have one master dir that have subdirs and one of those subdirs must not be visible
[20:56]<rvjy>it's very strange.
[21:03]<pzrgc->odd
[21:03]<rvjy>indeed
[21:09]<zyxvez>why won't the smbldap-useradd tool make the unix user... or at least what ever it needs to join a computer to the domain with!!!
[21:09]<zyxvez>ARG!
[21:09]<pj0cd>dunno
[21:10]<pj0cd>that's a kinda cryptic description of the problem
[21:10]<zyxvez>hold a min i will narrow it down for you :)
[21:12]<zyxvez>http://www.weaubleau.k12.mo.us/~rnance/sambaerror.txt
[21:12]<zyxvez>there you go ;)
[21:13]<zasu>hi RiXtEr
[21:13]<zyxvez>rcsu, HELLO!!! :)
[21:13]<zasu>RiXtEr: do you see the ldap users with getent passwd
[21:13]<zyxvez>yep
[21:14]<zasu>RiXtEr: all letters in lowercase ?
[21:15]<zyxvez>mail sambalogs # grep ldapuser /etc/passwd
[21:15]<zyxvez>mail sambalogs # getent passwd ldapuser
[21:15]<zyxvez>ldapuser:x:1005:531:MyLdap Test:/home/users/Accounting/puser:/bin/bash
[21:15]<zyxvez>yeah
[21:15]<zyxvez>all in lc
[21:16]<zasu>RiXtEr: yep, and your techer-test account ? is the username in lowercase
[21:16]<zyxvez>the machine name is all lc
[21:17]<pj0cd>you should use something like lam or phpldapadmin to create machine accounts, smbldap tools never did the job for me
[21:18]<zasu>RiXtEr: try a 'slapcat | grep -i teacher-test'
[21:19]<zasu>RiXtEr: may be that samba expects it as uid= and in the DIT it is cn=
[21:19]<zyxvez>mail sambalogs # slapcat | grep -i teacher-test1
[21:19]<zyxvez>dn: uid=teacher-test1$,ou=Computers,dc=weaubleau,dc=k12,dc=mo,dc=us
[21:19]<zyxvez>cn: teacher-test1$
[21:19]<zyxvez>sn: teacher-test1$
[21:19]<zyxvez>uid: teacher-test1$
