[00:23]<rrmnsm>well is syslogd running?
[00:24]<rrmnsm>sounds more like a symtom... its just bitch that a log message overflowed it buffer space for log messages
[00:25]<ggjmygmgz>it was a network adaptor....

[00:50]<ggjmygmgz>BYE!!! CRULE WORLD!
[00:53]<rrmnsm>NeoMinder, have fun playing the sand wit your san book
[00:53]<ygsjgmyr>heh.
[00:53]<ygsjgmyr>he works closer to home than I do.
[00:53]<ygsjgmyr>amazing.
[00:54]<rrmnsm>and he takes longer to get dressed to go work than you do... well at least on your work at home days ;-p
[00:54]<ygsjgmyr>hahaha. yea.
[00:54]<ygsjgmyr>even on regular days. I never really care much about how I look.
[00:55]<ygsjgmyr>without makeup I'm better looking than most dykes, so you know...haven't had to worry about it. lol
[00:56]<rrmnsm>okay whose stupid idea was it to put microscopic external scsi connectors on the damm thing.. must of been some cable reseller.. damm that small we can double the price.
[00:56]<ygsjgmyr>cscsi
[00:56]<rrmnsm>stm22801 338-0036
[00:56]<rrmnsm>sym
[00:57]<rrmnsm>i thought the regular 68 pin connectors were bad enough
[01:05]<vrs>Niacin
[01:07]<gyrayg>Vas
[01:08]<vrs>how was the interview ?
[01:08]<gyrayg>which one?
[01:08]<vrs>Neiman marcus
[01:08]<gyrayg>i canceled the second one with NM and i mcafee wants to do a second one
[01:08]<gyrayg>but i got a offer letter today from a place in Down Town Dallas
[01:09]<gyrayg>pays better then Mcafee / TI
[01:09]<vrs>wow you're busy
[01:09]<vycyrr666>huh? Niacin? Vitamin B6? (I think...?)
[01:09]<vrs>i thought NM paid top dollars
[01:09]<gyrayg>Vas: yea on thursday.. i had an interview with TI @ 9am / NM @ 1:30 / Mcafee @ 5:pm
[01:09]<gyrayg>they do
[01:09]<gyrayg>around $46 per hour
[01:10]<gyrayg>but your doing 2 peoples jobs.
[01:10]<vrs>err... all job description sounds serious
[01:10]<gyrayg>yea
[01:10]<gyrayg>the job i just accepted pays $41 per hour
[01:11]<vrs>and which one is this
[01:11]<vrs>TI ?
[01:11]<gyrayg>its not a technology company
[01:11]<gyrayg>its a financial company
[01:11]<gyrayg>trading / stockmarket etc
[01:12]<vrs>well make sure they're not outsourcing your job to india next year
[01:12]<gyrayg>hehe well the lady from Mcafee emailed me and said
[01:12]<gyrayg>its gonna be another week or two before they have an offer letter
[01:13]<gyrayg>she said take the job.. then if i like Mcafee's offer.. change
[01:14]<vrs>sweet
[01:15]<gyrayg>yea well depends on the contract tho ( i have to sign one ;\ _
[01:26]<vrs>anybody know how to add a filter host on a 3510 so that only certain systems can access it ?
[01:27]<rrmnsm>Vas, what makes you think that anyone with that level of information would be around at 3:30 or later on a friday evening....
[01:28]<vrs>heheh
[02:40]<rgmd_>is seeing "Enabled." on a service log in /var/svc/log that coindes with every reboot mean that svcadm clear/enable was typed after each reboot or that is what happens normally when the service is restarted?
[02:54]<nnvwjpp>so when is the zfs included solaris 10 due?
[02:54]<rrmnsm>06/06
[02:55]<nnvwjpp>hmm...
[02:55]<nnvwjpp>it's awfully close to 06/06
[02:55]<nnvwjpp>no rumblings...
[02:55]<rrmnsm>yeap
[02:55]<rrmnsm>no not really...
[02:56]<rrmnsm>might even be the 14th .. that would be a good day to release
[02:56]<nnvwjpp>so, I've been thinking of setting up a mail server. Something secure, fast and updatable (not too much work)...any recommendations?
[02:56]<rrmnsm>but i just thought of the reason why the 14th would be a good day
[02:56]<nnvwjpp>within linux, mail toasters are a snap...solaris is another thing though
[02:56]<nnvwjpp>jamesd: why?
[02:57]<rrmnsm>its the aniversary of the release of opensolaris
[02:57]<rrmnsm>if you can wait a month, i would go with solaris 10.. if not grab solaris express b39 seems pretty stable
[02:58]<nnvwjpp>jamesd: need to go into production
[02:58]<nnvwjpp>jamesd: I'll wait I guess
[02:58]<nnvwjpp>windows 2003 + exchange 2003 is pretty slick
[02:59]<rrmnsm>i've haven't heard anything to say its not production ready... ZFS is really rock stable
[02:59]<rgmd_>it is
[02:59]<rrmnsm>Netwolf, only if you don't have to back up and reconfigure it every 2 days
[02:59]<nnvwjpp>and for some reason, the smb implementation of windows native as faster than samba on linux or solaris
[02:59]<nnvwjpp>jamesd: I haven't touched the server (with the exception of php update = 30 minutes) since two months
[03:01]<nnvwjpp>jamesd: Once setup (Active Directory, Filestore, Messaging, URL Scan, MODX CMS and Brightmail w/Mysql) it's been running non-stop for two months...no downtime so far
[03:01]<rrmnsm>lucky.. you must be a damm good administrator... i 've heard lots of horror stories
[03:01]<nnvwjpp>the most painful experience I had was to install solaris with 12 zones (each for a separate use) and spend over 4 days smpatch update
[03:02]<rgmd_>haha mysql
[03:02]<rgmd_>whenever i hear mysql i know the person who is talking about it is a joke
[03:02]<nnvwjpp>andy_: comes with brightmail
[03:02]<rgmd_>brightmail is a joke
[03:03]<nnvwjpp>really? what makes you say that?
[03:03]<rgmd_>because mysql is a joke
[03:03]<rgmd_>hehe
[03:04]<nnvwjpp>do you know what brightmail is?
[03:04]<rrmnsm>andy i don't know.. it seems to do all the jobs i ask for it to do.. and is hella of a lot easier than most of the competition
[03:04]<rgmd_>well google/yahoo mysql gotchas... there's a site that lists a whole lot of mysql gotchas... stuff that's just horrible... but lots of that has been fixed in mysql version 5
[03:05]<rgmd_>but the thing is what people use myql for could very well be served just as well by if not better with a bdb or some other flat files
[03:05]<rrmnsm>andy so? it has a few bugs.. what doesn't... if you don't hit the code path with the bugs or you work around them... life goes on.
[03:06]<nnvwjpp>jamesd: http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph?site=www.mail.ac
[03:06]<nnvwjpp>jamesd: hasn't been rebooted in over two months
[03:06]<rgmd_>if you're going to take the defensive stance im not going to go on with the offensive stnace
[03:06]<nnvwjpp>let's see...bug huh?
[03:06]<nnvwjpp>wasn't there a postgres exploit recently
