[00:46]<mygmmzyvn>I had a disk that I'd set up with ZFS that went bad. Just got the replacement disk and put it in place; didn't have anything to save from before (I'd just set the disk up when it went bad), is a 'zpool destroy <pool>' followed by a 'zpool create <pool> <device>' the best/proper way to replace it?
[01:01]<ivrgr_>MindDrive: As long as there's zero data to save, sure.
[01:38]<ssmmt19>anyone know of a known working hardware list for solaris 10.. ive been looking for one and cant find it...
[01:39]<ruzrfys>www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl
[01:39]<ssmmt19>thanks
[01:43]<mygmmzyvn>IvanR_ - thanks, there was definitely nothing to save (the drive was completely dead anyhow), so I went ahead and did it a while ago... hopefully this drive will last more than a few days. :)

[02:43]<dfjg>Is it possible to repackage or redistribute solaris as it comes from Sun? For example, if I wanted to sell it to a customer already installed on a server with an installation cd with predefined configuration items in place so that they don't have to do that upon a reinstallation or such.
[02:43]<mygmmzyvn>Are you asking on a technical or legal basis?
[02:46]<dfjg>well, both
[02:46]<dfjg>:)
[02:46]<aj_z0>Legal answer may be found in the license
[02:46]<dfjg>I am more trying to figure out what sun allows
[02:48]<dfjg>anyone know much about Nexenta Gnu/Solaris?
[02:48]<mygmmzyvn>For Nexenta you might get more information in the #opensolaris channel.
[02:49]<dfjg>thanks
[03:58]<rrsnd>hey guys, does anybody know how to get an ILOM working on a Sun Fire x2100? I can ping it and see that it has port 23 open with nmap, however telnet fails (disconnects immediately), and ssh -p 23 doesn't work either. There are no other ports listening
[03:58]<rrmnsm>casey, sure read the manual you can find at sunsolve.sun.com or docs.sun.com
[03:59]<rrsnd>jamesd: I have it printed, to no avail.
[04:01]<rrsnd>the documentation states that ssh is what you should be able to use, and telnet isn't supported
[04:01]<rrsnd>which is fine, but it seems inaccurate
[04:08]<rrmnsm>Furthermore, the optional management card for the X2100 is not the same as the iLOM on the X4100 and X4200 systems. You need to boot a DOS formated DVD in order to setup the card, and then you have to use the N1 System Manager on a dedicated box to manage them. While the software is pretty nice, allocating one box as management sucks, plus you need to setup a dedicated management network to manage all the systems. In short, y
[04:08]<rrmnsm>ou can't just plop the X2100 with Service Processor on your LAN and SSH to it, you need to plan things out before you deploy.
