[05:18]<lglzcjzg>Is there a way to have Tomcat 4.1 use a users ftp home as a webdoc base? and that the user can just drop a WAR file there and then tomcat update and reload when he changes the file??
[05:20]<drssygn>create a group tomcatusers
[05:20]<drssygn>where the tomcat belong to
[05:20]<drssygn>and the user in question
[05:21]<drssygn>give the group write access to the ftp home
[05:21]<drssygn>means the groups should be made of the user and tomcat
[05:23]<lglzcjzg>ok, then he just puts a WAR in that directory and presto, it auto loads??
[05:24]<lglzcjzg>or would it be easier just to make the directory as part of the webdoc base?
[05:24]<lglzcjzg>that way tomcat can reference it for WAR files, and since the directory is owned by the ftp user he is free to change and mod at will
[05:24]<lglzcjzg>??
[05:25]<lglzcjzg>just a though.
[05:25]<lglzcjzg>I am working in a VDS (Virutal Domain Space), and they have pretty strict rules on user permissions and groups.
[05:25]<lglzcjzg>thank you for the help.
[05:25]<lglzcjzg>in advance
[11:22]<drssygn>morning *
[12:05]<yvgcrgy>Hello! I have a problem configuring NTLM authentication using jCIFS. When I add the NtlmHttpFilter in the web.xml of a little test webapp, it seems to work fine, but not if I put it in the "global" web-xml. Then tomcat crashes with a BindException. What can be wrong?
[12:09]<yvgcrgy>When I search for this error I only get a lot of stuff where people have accidentially tried to start tomcat while it was already running, and stuff like that.
[12:23]<yvgcrgy>Forget it... I get disconnected all the time. :( Il
[12:23]<yvgcrgy>I'll try the mailing list...
[12:37]<rggjaymg>hello
[12:37]<drssygn>hi
[12:38]<drssygn>please dont do it :)
[12:38]<rggjaymg>lol
[12:38]<rggjaymg>DID YOU WHOIS ME ?!
[12:38]<rggjaymg>:P
[12:38]<rggjaymg>or what shouldnt i do ?
[12:39]<cnsv>live up to your nick, I'd imagine :)
[12:39]<drssygn>:)
[12:39]<rggjaymg>ah
[12:40]<rggjaymg>it's because i mastubate that often
[12:40]<rggjaymg>:(
[12:40]<drssygn>yeah thats a must for a real genocider :)
[12:41]<rggjaymg>true :P
[12:41]<rggjaymg>anyways, i wanted to ask if tomcat vhosts still are done within this maner: http://ex-parrot.com/~pete/tomcat-vhost.html
[12:43]<drssygn>genocide, which version of tomcat you plan to use or you're using ?
[12:45]<rggjaymg>urm, let me see.. :?
[12:45]<rggjaymg>5.0.27 ?
[12:46]<rggjaymg>wow, latest stable is 5.5.17 says the topic..
[12:46]<drssygn>yes
[12:46]<rggjaymg>but its still 5.0.27 within gentoo
[12:46]<rggjaymg>:/
[12:46]<drssygn>gentoo :)
[12:46]<rggjaymg>gen-t00l
[12:46]<rggjaymg>:p
[12:49]<drssygn>genocide, afaik you can configure your host like that (in the url you posted) except the logger directive its no more working in the 5.5.* series but if you use the 5.5.17 i think it wil be easier to user the host-manager application which create vhost on the urn :)
[12:52]<rggjaymg>user the urn
[12:52]<rggjaymg>:P
[12:52]<rggjaymg>sounds nice!
[12:53]<rggjaymg>is there any info on that ?
[12:53]<drssygn>btw
[12:53]<drssygn>the admin application is no more bundeled with the 5.5.* series
[12:54]<drssygn>but you need to create the admin role and assigne it to the user who should set /create vhosts
[12:54]<rggjaymg>i just need one user to do so....
[12:54]<drssygn>okay so give hime the manager and admin roles
[12:54]<rggjaymg>but most likely i will include the vhost creating within a script because its a more complex vhost than just tomcat (speaking of Open-Xchange .. )
[12:55]<drssygn>ahh i see
[12:55]<rggjaymg>ya
[12:55]<fdcgg>the more i hear about open-Xchange, the less i like it
[12:55]<drssygn>if i were you i would create one vhost with the host-manager
[12:55]<rggjaymg>but some fancy admin interface be nice too ;]
[12:55]<drssygn>and see what have been changed
[12:55]<drssygn>and than process with the automation
[12:55]<fdcgg>ive never used the admin app
[12:55]<fdcgg>only manager..
[12:55]<rggjaymg>lyken, why ? just because the users that seek help come here and are not that smart as the ones that don't need help ?
[12:55]<drssygn>i think that would be secure
[12:56]<rggjaymg>ok
[12:56]<drssygn>genocide, lyken should be sleeping now its too late there where he comes from :)
[12:56]<rggjaymg>brr
[12:56]<rggjaymg>5 AM !
[12:56]<fdcgg>no way
[12:56]<fdcgg>its 8pm
[12:56]<drssygn>aha
[12:57]<fdcgg>my server is in the USA
[12:57]<fdcgg>_this_ box
[12:57]<rggjaymg>ah ok
[12:57]<fdcgg>i ssh to it
[12:57]<rggjaymg>gotcha
[12:57]<drssygn>lyken, ever had this one : log4j:ERROR Error occured while converting date. java.lang.NullPointerException
[12:58]<fdcgg>ooh, err you are playing with array?
[12:59]<drssygn>no i only set this : <param name="ConversionPattern" value="%d %-5p [%c] %m%n"/> in my log4j conf file
[13:00]<drssygn>but the problem is that this runs on my test env and not on the production
[13:00]<fdcgg>yassine: lots of google responses :)
[13:02]<drssygn>if you add the magic word pentaho to that error message nothing will be found
[13:02]<fdcgg>lol
[13:14]<drssygn>i solved it (someway somehow)
[13:14]<drssygn>moving the log4j from my WEB-INF/lib to the common/lib
[13:29]<-- dvxn|syzzzyus xzs>http://www.bagdadsoftware.de")
[15:15]<_mzcjw_>can someone please help me out: how can i use a servlet with jsp?
[15:29]<dzssygnwjzc>_MrCox_, explain what you want exactly so we can try to help you
[15:30]<_mzcjw_>i just need help to get a helloworld servlet to work, what i want to do is to call a Test.java from a jsp and get the Test.java to print out hello
[15:30]<fdcgg>_MrCox_: if you've done hava before
[15:31]<_mzcjw_>i have been programming in java a while
[15:31]<_mzcjw_>for a while
[15:31]<_mzcjw_>:)
[15:32]<_mzcjw_>But one problem is when i try to compile the Test.java, it cant find the javax.servlet packages, so i set the CLASSPATH to ....../tomcat5/common/lib
[15:32]<_mzcjw_>but that didn't work either
[15:33]<fdcgg>you should setup ANT to do your builds
