[01:07]<lzvzyc_dzw>anyone?
[01:09]<cfnnk>:colorscheme
[01:09]<cfnnk><tab>
[01:11]<zy2r>join #ubuntu
[01:11]<zy2r>ops
[01:11]<zy2r>rs
[01:11]<lzvzyc_dzw>problem is that i do not know what the colorscheme is called
[01:12]<lzvzyc_dzw>can't find it either
[01:13]<cfnnk>you have a list of colorscheme with <tab>
[01:13]<rurn>:clorscheme
[01:13]<rurn>erm
[01:14]<rurn>wrong window heh (how did i think this was a vim window..uhh)
[01:14]<lzvzyc_dzw>what parameter should i give it
[01:16]<lzvzyc_dzw>i want a white background with black text. things should be bold and stuff instead of in color
[01:17]<_9q>nuge: :-P
[01:20]<lzvzyc_dzw>i have no installed black and white syntax highlighting schema anyways...
[01:20]<lzvzyc_dzw>vim should have a colorblind mode...
[01:28]<lzvzyc_dzw>set t_Co=0
[01:28]<lzvzyc_dzw>should do it
[01:29]<lzvzyc_dzw>yepp, that did it
[01:32]<lzvzyc_dzw>thx guys for trying
[01:32]<nnmrs>oh holy crap! when i run svn in gvim and it prompts for a ssh password gvim gives me a nice dialog!
[01:32]<nnmrs>wow, that's awesome.
[01:33]<lzvzyc_dzw>now i can go to sleep...
[01:33]<lzvzyc_dzw>nighty night
[02:02]<auga2fjaanz>Has anyone done a multiple patch version of :diffpatch and something that does not require original file(s) open?
[02:17]<fuff_>somebody know a god tag generating program ? ex_tags is a shit
[02:17]<fuff_>god=good
[02:17]<lxzzcvuzn>ctags
[02:18]<fuff_>u know a website ? it is hard to search in google for it
[02:18]<lxzzcvuzn>vimgor: google exuberant ctags
[02:18]<vydzjz>phrakture: I have no idea
[02:18]<lxzzcvuzn>damnit
[02:18]<lxzzcvuzn>ctags.sf.net
[02:18]<fuff_>not ex_tags -> is shi
[02:19]<fuff_>something else
[02:19]<lxzzcvuzn>that's the defacto standard. if it sucks, you're using it wrong
[02:20]<lxzzcvuzn>what are you trying to do that makes it suck? and for the record, it's called ctags or exuberant ctags, not ex_tags
[02:20]<puvfy2>hi, is it possible that vim7 and latex-suite 1.5 don't work together nicely?
[02:20]<fuff_>i want to make a tags file with xlib functions
[02:20]<fuff_>one moment...
[02:21]<lxzzcvuzn>ummm ctags -R /usr/include/X11/*.h ?
[02:21]<lxzzcvuzn>done
[02:21]<saxyed__>pulp: I prefer cscope
[02:21]<puvfy2>the tutorial says that upon creating a newfile with the tex suffix would add the "Tex-Suite" menu to gvim, but it doesn't appear
[02:21]<lxzzcvuzn>futlib: what does ":filetype" output?
[02:22]<puvfy2>detection:ON plugin:ON indent:OFF
[02:22]<fuff_>ctags -f testtag /usr/include/X11/Xlib.h --> XCreatimpleWindow is NOT tagged !
[02:23]<puvfy2>phrakture, the help file does also look strange, huge parts are red
[02:23]<fuff_>schizm__: thanks i will take a look
[02:23]<lxzzcvuzn>pulp_: XCreateSimpleWindow, you mean?
[02:23]<fuff_>yes
[02:24]<fuff_>phrakture: fore example many other dito
[02:25]<fuff_>exu_tags tag a lot of shit, it should concentrate on functions not on variables structs an something like that
[02:25]<saxyed__>a good tag program tags EVERYTHING
[02:25]<saxyed__>cause it can't know what you may or may not want
[02:26]<fuff_>ok, but 90% only need functions
[02:26]<saxyed__>not true
[02:26]<saxyed__>my team (about 40 developers) use all sorts of things from it all the time
[02:26]<cvyrr>eheh
[02:26]<saxyed__>well, using cscope
[02:26]<cvyrr>you need all you can get
[02:26]<saxyed__>but things other than functions...class declarations, etc etc
[02:26]<fuff_>ctag the linux kernel and half of the jumps are wrong
[02:27]<mgzdgy>ctags -f testtag --c-kinds=+p /usr/include/X11/Xlib.h
[02:27]<lxzzcvuzn>pulp_: again. the name of the application is ctags or exuberant ctags - ex_tags and exu_tags are incorrect
[02:27]<lxzzcvuzn>and deryni is right. ctags does not record prototypes by default
[02:27]<lxzzcvuzn>i've said it hundreds of times
[02:27]<lxzzcvuzn>RT
[02:27]<lxzzcvuzn>FM
[02:28]<saxyed__>real time frequency modulation!
[02:28]<fuff_>deryni: thanks a lot !
[02:28]<mgzdgy>I'm not really sure why I helped you, actually.
[02:29]<lxzzcvuzn>yeah thanks deryni! I didn't have to read _any_ help files! I can stumble around blindly and call applications "shit" because of MY ERRORS! Awesome!
[02:29]<lxzzcvuzn>;)
[02:29]<lxzzcvuzn>pulp_: try reading next time
[02:30]<fuff_>phrakture: the manual to ex..whatever is hard to read.
[02:30]<lxzzcvuzn>and saying "90% only need functions" is dumb. Where can I reference your statistics? Was there a study done?
[02:30]<lxzzcvuzn>pulp_: that's no excuse
[02:30]<lxzzcvuzn>pulp_: ctags --help
[02:30]<fuff_>phrakture: for what else ur using tags ?
[02:31]<saxyed__>my my the cynicism
[02:31]<lxzzcvuzn>I use it for structs and defines all the time
[02:31]<saxyed__>as do I
[02:31]<lxzzcvuzn>more so than functions
[02:31]<auga2fjaanz>schizm__: http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=858 uses locate to do the kind of file selection you were looking for too
[02:31]<saxyed__>when your project is 3million+ lines and has 40 other developers, you need to see other people's code in all forms all the time
[02:31]<saxyed__>junk: Thanks I'll check it out
[02:32]<saxyed__>Hmm_|, would need some tuning to allow for multiple filenames/etc but looks like it might be the ticket, thanks Junk
[02:32]<auga2fjaanz>sure
[02:32]<lxzzcvuzn>what does this do? /me clicks
[02:32]<auga2fjaanz>*boom*
[02:33]<auga2fjaanz>hehe
[02:33]<lxzzcvuzn>kinda interesting - ciaranm, do you use that alot? LocateOpen, I mean
[02:34]<saxyed__>phrakture: I'll use it a TON
[02:34]<saxyed__>if you have a project that spans hundreds of sometimes very deep directories it makes switching to a particular file very quick
[02:35]<lxzzcvuzn>i could see it being useful, but I don't know if I'd use it too much - I typically know where the file is I want to edit... and I use the wildmenu to help
[02:35]<lxzzcvuzn>ah, I see
[02:35]<lxzzcvuzn>personally, I would use something like the worspace plugin for that
[02:35]<saxyed__>aye, most of the time i know as well, but if it's up 6 directories, and then down 6 more in a different sub tree, just typing the filename is FAR faster
